Thanks for checking out War of Rights! What a great video you've created from the eyes of a brand new player. It's been shared with the rest of the development team. :) We're glad that you enjoyed your experience with the game and its community.
War of Rights has a REALLY accurate ballistics system. Evey rifle is zeroed in at 100 yards, but since it's a subsonic projectile, you're going to overshoot anytime the enemy is closer than that, so you have to aim at the belt buckle of the enemy to have a high chance of hitting.
Not every rifle is zeroed at 100 yards though...some are zeroed at 1000 yards, 500 yards and even 300...and technically buck and ball is less than 100 yards

Yeah, this game has quite a bit of attention to detail. For example, attaching your bayonet makes it harder to aim properly due to the weight imbalance.
The devs really listen too. I asked them to alter players heights because having all players the same height is unrealistic and reduces immersion. Next patch, they added variable character height. Someone told me that the flag poles were too light coloured and should have some darker lacquer colouring at least sometimes - I mentioned that and they added it.. it's a very slow burn development process so some people get bored with the lack of new things over a long time.. but the attention to detail is amazing and rare in game development. War Of Rights is one of the most immersive games i have ever played and sets the gold standard for how a game can tackle a first person shooter set during the American Civil War.
We just need a Napoleonic Era version of this game. As much as I enjoy playing War Of Rights I think there’s loads of potential for some more interesting battles and stuff.
I've been playing War of Rights for just under 2 years and I've never had a dull moment. The community is small granted, but I think that allows players to form a tighter gaming bond with each other, I see the same names often and just like in normal life, you get talking to each other and start to find other things you have in common. This point is made stronger if you join a regiment, with the same players turning up for big matches over the weekend. I thoroughly enjoy playing this game and although I assumed I would enjoy it for the subject initially, I now enjoy it for the community. 15th Wisconsin "For The Cheese!".

lmao i love the concept that if you are in battle at any point or place in time there is always a slight chance your leader will be a random russian child
Those lines on the ground would deffinitely help a lot, even if in a game such as Squad they were not that accurate, or like if it was lines or something that would project orders and each soldier's understanding of what each order means, like almost see through smoke with different colours or just pictograms - it really does make sense as since it is on the ground, it does not obscure your vision. Also, even from watching this game, it felt like that it communicates to the player: "communication, tactical planning, skills and thoughts is what will make you win the game" and it reminds me of how I have read that even in WW1 the engagement distances were pretty close, so I think that this game would work even in WW1 settings - also some player animations were awesome, some were weird, but still, the atmosphere with the gun sounds: that is some dope ass stuff that does NOT SHIT ON THE LINE.
There's a lot of milsim elements, like communication and teamwork and semi-serious RP, but it balances that well with people just playing a game and having fun in a more casual way. Not that there is anything wrong with serious well organized milsim stuff, that stuff is impressive and really entertaining, but it can be very hard to organize, plan and execute. This is a good middle ground. Not a lot of people goofing off and doing their own thing, they are naturally encouraged to just cooperate. I'm sure someone else could put it to words better than I can.
First Union officer is a squeaker, first Confederate officer is a consummate professional with a Southern accent and a European NCO repeating his orders. That's the War of Rights experience I know.
Can’t believe Slorgs has put out a video on one of, if not my favorite game. War of Rights holds a very special place in my heart, as I would have never met some of my favorite people if I had never picked it up. War of Rights is the reason I decided to go to Chickamauga National Battlefield (a 3 and a half hour drive, more for others), just to meet up with some of my friends and explore the area. This dumb Civil War game has made me laugh the hardest in my life, and has had some of the most intense and memorable moments of any game I’ve ever played (Winning Cooke’s Countercharge as the Union for those who know how Confederate biased that map is). Once again Slorgs, thank you for covering this game TLDR: I love War of Rights

This is not a game I will binge and play all night long, but I always go back to it. I can't say that for other games, I usually play and then lose interest and move on. But War of Rights has a unique feel and play to it that brings me back again and again. When I just want to have a more relaxed/chill gaming session I hop on WoR, it never disappoints. Lots of laughs, the players and proximity chat really make this game worthwhile.
This game is such a blast! I highly recommend checking into joining a regiment if you want the full experience, the organized events can be sooo much fun!
Slorgs became one of us. The community is the best. Usually when you join a unit in War of Rights it usually has people from that area. Like When 1st Texas active almost everyone was from Texas.
I recently got into this game. I saw it a few years ago and thought it would be interesting but then I totally forgot about it. I’m very glad I went into it. Hitting enemies at range or in melee is always satisfying
I've been a backer of this game since 2015. The progress of this game has at times brought me to tears, because I am passionate for this game. I am a Civil War Reenactor (2nd Maryland Infantry [CSA], Co. A) and wish there were more games like this. Sadly, yes because it's the internet, people are toxic as all hell in this game. But you can tell when you play this game, it's developed with care and heart. It's not the game's fault for being "toxic," the community can be toxic as hell. The best way to truly enjoy this game and avoid a lot of the toxicity is joining a regiment, where they (should) curb that behavior. Plus, regiments take part in organized battles and events, which really makes the game so much fun.
Love the video! The game doesn't get nearly enough attention. If you want to see what this game is really capable of please check out the organized play with Regiments. I play with the 10th US and would love to show you the ropes, but there are tons of other great Regiments you'd be welcome to play with. It's a whole different level of crazy fun.
As a long time player and supporter of this game, your video was extremely entertaining and fair towards WoR, especially in comparison to so many clickbait videos that barely scratch the surface. I would note that there is a huge clan organization part of this game that many people never hear about, that caters to people who love games centered on team co-op. The biggest servers are the frequent locked events between these clans. Anyways, very refreshing to actually laugh at a war of rights video :)
One of the things I love about this game is that it works regardless of the size of players. If you only have about a dozen or so on each side, you can play it as a skirmish. If you're mazed out, it's a huge battle.
War of Rights and Squad are the two games I find myself coming back to over and over again. It's just so satisfying playing a game where it's a little slower, but when it gets down to business, it still brings intensity and excitement.
Once you start playing, even on the Confederate side, it's remarkably uncontroversial. A lot of the officers and players are from the South and through this game try to RP as their ancestors and want to portray them in their best light. The game itself, the mechanics lend themselves to very organised play. An incredibly enjoyable experience!
What a great video! You actually take the time to learn the game dynamics and understand the community behind it, not like most youtubers that just take random kids saying slurs in the public servers and use that as a clickbait to frame the game and the whole community as "r*cist" or "controversial". War of Rights only exists because of the community, regiments are literally what gives life to the game. Regiments recruit new players giving them the possibility to play in major community events, participate in drills, meet new people and make friends, which at the end of the day is what makes players spend more time in the game and being active members of the community. Which makes me proud to see my 4th Georgia fellows in this video. I hope you revisit the game soon, maybe in a part two for this video, it would be nice to see you attending a community event with a regiment to show more of that side of the game, is an experience that's worth it.
They've been developing this game for over 10 years, and it's still not close to being finished.. I'm not sure we can expect them to make more than one game at this rate lol.
Been playing WOR for around three years now, it’s an incredibly immersive experience that allows us civil war lovers to experience the closest thing possible to experience civil war battles. Gotta say this game has something for everybody I wish more people knew about it.
Havent played this since it came out, but i have unforgettable memories of a guy blasting scotland the brave on mic while we charged rebels in a glorious hail of gunfire.
Wow I haven’t played WOR since it came out, the graphics and mechanics seem like they’ve really improved. Definitely a favorite of mine, will be jumping back in soon!!
The game mechanic of punishing you for being out of formation i such a great idea that forces a group of completely random people to work together. Most players follow officer commands, perform volleys, and charge all together without hesitation, even on the public 350 player server. The day I saw around 50 men all collectively decide to work together in one company to defeat their enemy is the day I had my faith in humanity restored, if only just a bit. The sound of 50 muskets firing at the exact same time is a sound you will not forget. 100000000000% recommend this game. Don't listen to the recruiters saying the only way to have fun is in a clan, the pub server is almost always being led by competent officers and folks will teach you basic stuff happily.
absolutely FUN game to play! How often you find the online game where players actually obey orders, keep the formation and etc. War of Rights has it all. You really feel you are part of the unit. And people sing for encouragement!
Useful notes: T=see your teamates name tags (good for charges), seeing your officer (star icon), and other relevant info. C=change between walking and double time(a jog) B=bayonet V=melee mode R=reload, but you can hit it again to interrupt your reload. N=default voice chat
I remember playing this game when peak hours reached less that 100 players. since going back ive been in mutliple matches with nearly 300 people in consecutive days. idk what happened but its nice to enjoy the game participating in big matches
This game is great, I've played it for years, yet it is when organised well-drilled regiments meet in events that the game really shines. The amount of immersion possible when everybody knows his place and role in the force is unmatched by anything I've played ever since.
If this is controversial then every single ww2 game should be cancelled, I can’t believe people are hating this game for just being in the civil war people nowadays are just braindead
Like many things, it's primarily the community. The game is fantastic but a lot of the more veteran players of the community tend to lean Confederate, thanks to the greater level of experience that tends to be on this team as compared to Union teams. That's not to say the Union doesn't have it's own experienced units and leaders, but they are far and few between nowadays.
17:38 that guy was using buck and ball (basically a shotgun blast), and since he TK’d FOUR of his teammates, he was probably instantly kicked from the server 😂
i love this damn game, so realistic, i remember a charge of men when the flag went down, it was a rush to pick it up. then we ran the final man down. as he was panting and out of breath getting shot down like a dog. then we all patched our wounds and reloaded. getting back into formation before receiving orders from our commanders. made me happy
As a living historian I think this game is very good. Not to mention it teaches history by explaining the battle and having every mission play out the same way as it did before, at the expense of the players determining who wins through the very same tactics. It blends it so well in fact that it’s one of the first games where you have to listen to leadership and keep in line to win. Sounds boring till you play it and really get into the LARP aspect of it. Wish we had more games like this which could keep history on the radar whilst being fun to play.
Love this game, I've wanted it for a long time and it definitely lived up to what I thought it would be. Also, despite the racism memes, most matches are pretty tame and the big server is well moderated. I hope this game has a surge, I'd love to see more active servers.
i played with a guy that would play margaritaville while moving around the map as are Sargent probably the coolest guy iv ever met and when shit hit the fan he would bayonet 10 guys before going down the man was a god i never got his name but now and again ill imagine him sitting on a sun lounger in some sunny part of the world drinking a small drink with a tiny umbrella in it and ill think and hope that he did find his margaritaville and hes soaking in every moment of it, that man carried us through some of the worst battles war of rights has ever seen and if he ask me to join him again when the time is needed id load up that game and do it all over again just for him.
I played in these matches with you - I remember the humour of the Russian child leading the sharpshooters regiment lol. I play as 'Billy Bowlegs'. One thing.. you weren't spamming the 'T' button all the time... next time you play you need to do this xD
Damn, this game graphics are absolutely beautiful and the roleplay is amazing - so immersive. Wish my pc could handle that. Also im European so i guess theres barely any players here and the ping for US servers is enormous for me. Edit: i found out that the requirements are suprisingly low and also there are european units :) also, ive seen this game in early access, i had no clue it came out in 2018! i swear i saw some early access showcase like a year ago
If you are recording this game outside of American peak time (around 1am - 2am London time) then I do not believe you capture the full spirit of the game. Nothing more than seeing a battlefield with 250 - 350 players on it. The more players there are the more immersive it becomes in my opinion.
@@drdoomsday007 By "people who are offended by [racism]" do you mean almost everybody who isn't a racist? Maybe things like this should be moderated and people who go around saying explicitly racist things should be banned. Otherwise you just have a toxic cesspit of a community because there's a lack of player accountability.
@@Jomchen Problem with that is people abuse report systems and you end up with a dead game because no one wants to play a game where easily offended people spam reports and kill the (voice)chat, battlebit being a prime example. I'd rather a lively chat with low pop than low pop and dead chat. Even as someone that does not talk in chat I'd like for people to rediscover the mute button rather than beg for everyone to be policed over words.
As a civil war buff and reenactor, I just couldn’t get into it. There’s not enough maps and there’s not enough variety in types of soldiers you can play as. So it gets really dry as you play through it. Most of the clans and events aren’t much different than the pub matches and I’d dare say the people in the game who end up on videos that display the game as a shelter for racists don’t know a damn thing about the civil war. And I don’t care who that ticks off lol.
The game has a wonderful feature for players who keep saying naughty things you don't want to hear. Mute. Take responsibility for your gameplay enjoyment and mute those demons.
It’s only controversial because of those people who only want to buy the game to talk about racism and what not… This game is very fun, has a great community with probably the most funniest people (when their racism switch isn’t on), and a game I can always come back to.
07:01 Very american of you to use the guy in front of you as a meathshield, kind of analogous to NATO, no? LOL 38:06 Yes, a drummer or fife so the men can keep time while marching, to give orders also. Obviously in Europe in the 18th Century, you needed all your men to fight in the line, so you gave children that role. The additional idea was that if the child got killed or maimed it would enrage the men and motivate them, or shame them into fighting harder.

Just a thought, but let’s try not to echo the “lost cause” BS.
I wish this game had more server that just let people play, and the community was bigger. Its a super fun game.
175 vs 175 isnt big enough battle for you?
@@JVRottweil Is that just the maximum number the server can handle? Or are there actually that many players in a server consistently?
@@party4lifedudeBoth. That is the max people there can be in a server, and there are usually at least one or two that are at almost max capacity
@@CharlieBaker4470 That's pretty good.
@@party4lifedudethe fullest they are are usually late afternoon evening NA time
What a great video!
From what I see the attention to detail is amazing and would love to see more war games from this company. Them doing a ww1 game would be amazing
They've been developing this game for over 10 years, and it's still not close to being finished.. I'm not sure we can expect them to make more than one game at this rate lol.
this is a comment for the algorithm
the dude screaming his heart out at the final brawl made it so much more fun and cinematic, hope he’s doing well
Plz make more of this coni actually laughed hard, my fave game that as ever existed I love this game
Been playing WOR for around three years now, it’s an incredibly immersive experience that allows us civil war lovers to experience the closest thing possible to experience civil war battles. Gotta say this game has something for everybody I wish more people knew about it.
Havent played this since it came out, but i have unforgettable memories of a guy blasting scotland the brave on mic while we charged rebels in a glorious hail of gunfire.
its growing boys and we gonna have a real good fight
People on this game are so funny, especially playing for the confederacy lmao. I love the proximity chat feature.
Love you lil slorgi❤
It's really funny to me hearing Europeans role playing American Civil War soldiers.
This was almost as educational as "The Civil War" by Ken Burns. Well, almost
Actually loved the coordination and teamplay, might give this a try.
Useful notes: T=see your teamates name tags (good for charges), seeing your officer (star icon), and other relevant info.
C=change between walking and double time(a jog)
B=bayonet
V=melee mode
R=reload, but you can hit it again to interrupt your reload.
N=default voice chat
The amount of immersion possible when everybody knows his place and role in the force is unmatched by anything I've played ever since.
good video good game wish you and this game got more attention
If this is controversial then every single ww2 game should be cancelled, I can’t believe people are hating this game for just being in the civil war people nowadays are just braindead
idk compared to "SEX with HITLER" I think this games not so controversial.
Ok Norm MacDonald
Loving the longer vids!!!
“Im blown away, and not in a jackfrags way” 😂
I got it yesterday and I’ve been having a blast
As a living historian I think this game is very good. Not to mention it teaches history by explaining the battle and having every mission play out the same way as it did before, at the expense of the players determining who wins through the very same tactics. It blends it so well in fact that it’s one of the first games where you have to listen to leadership and keep in line to win.
Sounds boring till you play it and really get into the LARP aspect of it.
Wish we had more games like this which could keep history on the radar whilst being fun to play.
So under rated.
Feels like a game u have fun only at certain hours of the day when player that got more than 1000 hours are connected
Those two officers degenerating into petty name calling was pure comedy. This is what makes games like this special.
thats not controvelsial thats historicly accurate!
You deserve way more subscribers,
Damn, this game graphics are absolutely beautiful and the roleplay is amazing - so immersive.
Most of this video is extreme low pop for this hame😭 if he shows up during prime time you get 300 players at least
The game is not controversial, it's just dead
Ya sadly
The game isn't controversial but the community is. Just too many racists to enjoy the game properly.
@@Jomchen yeah then people who are offended by that can just mute the racists ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If you area a french speaker, join the LFL! Lee's French Legion 10th Louisiana needs you to stop the blue tide! Louisiana!! YeeYee!!
This game is a trip i love it.
Great review!
Liked and subbed. Love your content.
it's a game about history, it's not controversial.
TALL GRASS?!?! Brother you are in a corn field
31:33 This feels like the final fights in the Anchorman movies
"Never play officer again... Never, never." 🤣
I really need this on playstation and xbox
The game has a wonderful feature for players who keep saying naughty things you don't want to hear. Mute. Take responsibility for your gameplay enjoyment and mute those demons.
It’s only controversial because of those people who only want to buy the game to talk about racism and what not…
This game is very fun, has a great community with probably the most funniest people (when their racism switch isn’t on), and a game I can always come back to.
The organized regiment play is a lot of fun, we have a ckmpetitive league that plays wednesday nights and tabletop game on weekends
17:30 It was at this moment; we all knew death was about to be witnessed.
This game is better than warzone
Great video.Great story of soldier. Great game.
07:01 Very american of you to use the guy in front of you as a meathshield, kind of analogous to NATO, no? LOL
38:06 Yes, a drummer or fife so the men can keep time while marching, to give orders also. Obviously in Europe in the 18th Century, you needed all your men to fight in the line, so you gave children that role. The additional idea was that if the child got killed or maimed it would enrage the men and motivate them, or shame them into fighting harder.
Couldn't agree more with your conclusion.
war of rights.... to own people. what a name for a game.
