    This man is 100% Pro, it's rare that you ever see anyone put on a ESD or Antistatic wrist strap before started working on cb's. I used to wear two of those while at work, working with raw explosive powder. I wish I understood this man's language Thanks for sharing with us, Thumbs up!

      Hi Rogers, actually is nothing important. It is about how modifying a radio can loose warranty. ESD precautions are a must, the radio is brand new, we sold those radios and we also gave the same warranty as ICOM did.

    A lot of people ask "why" and then arguing endless. The answer is somehow not so simple. We sell radios for hams and also for proffesionals. Sometime, a customer ask us to perform the "extended Tx Mod". We can say "No, Vade Retro Satana" or do it in the proper way with proper tools and also offering warranty. The customer has then a new radio working well as he wants to. On some radios we do not perform this kind of modification and the decision is ours, based on hundreds of hours of repairment in our laboratories. This clip is not a propaganda film to extend the Tx ouside the ham bands but a learning one to show how this can be made in the safer way. We saw this mod performed with scissors, screws, even knifes... That is the wrong way. Also people tend to ask why a lab is asking for money for a mod that can be done in 2 minutes... There is no need for hate to those who make QSOs in CB. Maybe sometime they will became hams after a taste of long distance QSO. 73 de Adrian YO3HJV

    This radio had a pretty interesting hystory! It was bought from us by a guy in UK (actually a friend of mine). The radio arrived from Japan in Bucharest/Romania, was modded then I took it with me at Friderichschafen Ham Fair and handled it to him. The radio was taken to UK. Then, the guy came back in Bucharest, with the radio. After a 6m contest, the radio felt from his table and was hit right in the main Dial. The metal chassis behind bent pretty bad. It came back in the service, open it completely and fix the metal sheet behind the front panel. The radio is still in business :-) Unfortunately, I didn't make photos or a video :-)

    Thomas, because some owners requst that! I don't know why! CB, using as a RF Generator... I don't ask questions like that only to myself but I also keep the answers for me.. We do it as a service & repair... ?Because we can? Anyway, the radio is already on it's way to Ham Fair @ Fridericshaffen :-)

      Beacause the buyer asked for and as we are dealers, I think it is better to do it clean and with proper tools than to let some butcher to cut the diodes with scissors like I saw somewhere.

    • @rogergrimsby5805
      @rogergrimsby5805 7 років тому +1

      I think "WHY ????????????????" referred to the purchaser's motivations, more than the technician's.
      > to get off of the boring ass ham bands and have some real fun.. that is why.
      Otherwise known as cursing like a drunken sailor and indulging in psychotic behavior or else it's too boring if you can't do that. Alternately known as the Ham bands are still a possibility for Family Fun, and CB not so much.
      Regardless of "Wideband transmit," the vast majority of people will see this modification as "CB transmit," and will simply be uninterested [in the cursing and psychoses]. Without the modification, it already transmits where most of us want.
