Thanks Matt! I was able to use your video as a guide to replace the screen on my IC-7300. I got the dreaded horizontal lines about 2 months after the warranty expired. 73 de AC2KV.
Greatest tutorial video I've ever seen on UA-cam. I wish I had more thumbs to give you up. My IC-7300 is still ok, but I might have to replace the screen sooner or later. Thanks again for your SUPER informative video. 73
Nice video. I was able to use it to see if replacement of the multi-knob encoder seems doable (it does). By the way, I appreciate your audio commentary which is missing in some instructional videos. Vocalizing what you are seeing, thinking and doing adds a lot in my opinion, especially when working with delicate (and expensive) gear.
is your knob skipping all over? i also watched this video to see if it was doable, as icom charges $125/hr + parts + shipping for out of warranty repairs, i didn't think nearly $200 was worth it for a knob.
The version of 9700 service manual I saw online lists part number 5030004051. The 7300 service manual listed 5030004050, and Icom parts dept advised it changed to 5030004052. My guess is that they all three are form/fit/function equivalent and just revisions. Makes sense they would be the same. Check with whoever you buy from to be sure...
I don''t think you will have the same problem in the 705 as it is only a 10w radio therefore the amount of heat generated is a lot less than the chassis of the 7300 has to deal with. Having seen this video i am nearly convinced that the screens give this trouble because its simply stuck onto the metal frame. The fan on the 7300 comes on with every transmission unlike other radios which makes me feel that there is so much heat that that's why they have set the fan to do this ? Maybe i am barking up the wrong tree...
Hard to see in the video, but there are metal tabs sticking up to help align it on the top and sides. Basically just push it toward the top as you are placing it in the metal frame.

Sir..can u help me where to get the screen. My touch screen not working.
Nice video, but I find it a bit disconcerting that there are so many views.
i watched it to see how to replace the multi knob, as they're in the same general place
I think this is the same screen as in the IC 705. Thats a worry.
