Thank you both. Lowndes, you and I crossed paths a few years ago, in Birmingham speaking on the same stage. Recently, several international colleagues and I published ‘An Unbiased, Sustainable, Evidence-informed Universal Food Guide: A Timely Template for National Food Guides’ that will be of interest to you both. It is openly accessible.
Thank you both again. Lowndes you are truly an inspiration. Your persisting commitment to plant-based nutrition even in your patients with late stage cancers and with your resistant colleagues is commendable. You have somehow resisted becoming too discouraged. You have truly seen the light. So glad we had a chance to meet. Carry on dancing!

79 years old. Plants based diet for three years. History of walking every day. Take hours on bikes. Now winter take 122 stares as fast as the electricity once. No medicine need. Failing in passing the massage of inflammation/veganism/health. People ignore the science. I injoing this video.
Really enjoyed this with the explanations and detail.

Glad to hear that you are putting "out there" that the core/hub of wellness is LOVE. I realized that today before I found this video. ❤ LOVE the confirmation ❤
💚🌱💚
What a great guest, couldn't stop listening to him. Thank you, very much enjoyed it ❤
This is a wonderful and interesting interview.
Thank you Dr. Lowndes. Lots of interesting scientific knowledge to pass on to us. 🙋
Excellent interview! Thanks to both of you.
I watch videos to keep my inspiration high and fighting against lazy snack life. This is a lala palooza of inspiration. Thank you Dr Lowndes
Excellent guest. One clarification: gluconeogenesis is triggered by the brain via the liver in EVERYONE with insufficient dietary glucose after stored glycogen is depleted. Doesn’t matter what they are or are not eating, eg fat, protein, low carb, starvation (“fasting”) etc or in a genuine ketone metabolism. If there’s no dietary protein to break down, muscle is cannabalized to provide the brain with glucose thru the process of gluconeogenesis, which is metabolically “expensive” and produces toxic metabolites like ammonia and acid. When ketone bodies are also being produced for fuel, you can play make believe and take the acid out of the word ketoacidosis, forming the cutesy euphemism “ketosis,” but you can’t alter the fact of metabolic acidosis resulting from both gluconeogenesis and ketone body production. Nor can you avoid gluconeogenesis during “fasting” (starvation) by remaining inactive, as some gaslighting, profiteering promoters of fasting insist. Sorry folks, that rant has been stewing awhile. In short, when the brain senses inadequate glucose supply, cortisol (yes, evil cortisol) is released to trigger glycogen mobilization followed by gluconeogenesis. Please prove me wrong.
Thanks! Very wonderful and life changing interview.
People nowadays eat tons of cheese in all kinds of presentations. With cheese in the morning at noon in the afternoon They sell products and advertise them as gluten free but filled with cheese in the center . Is Oakville Kayla There is a widespread belief among people that cheese is a wonder . People honestly believe that cheese is a good substitute for when you are not going to eat meat. They happily tell you that they don't eat meat, that they only eat chicken and fish from time to time. Or else they tell you that they are in very good health because they don't eat meat and only eat cheese. And very happy parents are giving cheese to their children every day. Or else when they take them out to dinner somewhere they ask for a dish made with cheese and chicken. And these parents think that everything is fine because on the right side of the plate they put two broccoli trees. And that their children eat very well and very healthy because they say that it was made from cows that only eat grass in open territory. And the chicken is wonderful because they only ask for organic chicken, the kind that eat worms that normally roam the earth eat.
And all those parents are very sure that they are doing the best they can with their children's nutrition.
And I may be totally wrong in saying all that with irony That's all you should really eat. But here in this very serious problem it is about a radical cultural change. I remember that famous Chinese dictator said that China needed a cultural revolution.
And the most profound cultural revolution that has been made is voting for people who would never understand what we are talking about here.
Great interview thank you for putting all the links below
Thank you
I can attest that saturated fat makes your blood sugar rise; not just sat fat from animal sources but from coconut as well because coconut is 95% sat fat I know because I am whole foods plant based and get a metabolic panel and CBC every 6 months to tinker with things I eat to document my results. I have a very high quality frozen steamed kale, wild blueberry, unsweetened cocao power and choice spices every morning. back in 2019 I added a cup of coconut cream to my daily smoothie and on my next metabolic panel my glucose rose to a 103 I omitted the cream and on my next labs my glucose was back to a satisfactory level. carnivore diets are foolish to me they persuade folks into thinking that a cholesterol level of 5 or 6oo is perfectly fine. SMH.
that's what's up! Thank you for sharing, indeed carnivore diets are foolish in every way imaginable!
Have you checked out a vegan powerlifter named baron Dixon he is 58 and can lift way more than Shawn baker can
I searched the name but all I found was a musician/artist? Sorry ❤
@ look up baron dixon vegan powerlifter you’ll find his links , YT won’t let me put his platform here
Yeah. So? Shawn has an important full time job besides that. Can't say that about the other one. Is that all you got😂 pff

Great interview Jeff! These keto folks have really lost the plot.
Yeah, I actually shot this over a year ago. I wanted to do this about 3 years ago. And I wanted to do a video far more elaborate than this. But, getting people to do things, including myself at times, is a whole nother can of beans...
I had an A1C of 5.8 and a persistent fasting blood glucose of 102-105 for about a year. 4 weeks ago I started on a low carb diet, about 20% carbs. My fasting blood glucose is now in the low 90s for the last 5 days. I do eat a lot of low carbs vegetables.
Do not forget the oxolate amount. Watch sally norton
Good for you. Now transition to full carnivore for optimal health.
@@jayhoggard92 evidence please that Carnivore produces optimal long term health.
59:00 I can’t stand it when I tell people about how I lost 75lbs and feel amazing on WFPB (also my husband lost 40lbs and feels better than ever) and they ask me what my blood type is and say that must be why it works for me - never mind that we have different blood types - or say that I have the right body type for a plant-based diet. In what world does it make sense that each human should eat a different diet? Maybe some horses should be eating carnivore and some horses should be eating keto or paleo while other horses just eat hay. To me it’s the same thing. There IS an ideal diet for humans and the scientific literature makes that very clear. My anecdotal evidence agrees with the scientific literature, even though I’m aware it’s anecdotal.
I always love showing people this whenever they mention the blood type diet. ua-cam.com/video/vORapFoQgX4/v-deo.htmlsi=XUKaltxBzT0L_bve
EXACTLY! Same here. Sadly, some of the people I cherish most are in that camp. After rapid, initial success with WFPB, they abandoned it, citing all the reasons you just outlined so perfectly. Doubled down on the SAD. Now they’re obese and beset by the whole spectrum of associated chronic diseases. In their thirties 😢
@@BunyonandBabe2 that’s really sad (no pun intended haha), especially if they tried it and it was working for them. I so badly wish I could get some of my loved ones to eat this way because I know how much it could change their lives. They watched me regain my health and asked me about it, then went back to their steak and eggs.
@ oh that’s a good one, I’m saving it!
Thanks for reply. Another SAD bit of irony is that they’re well-informed, adept horse people! Your analogy is perfect, but would never get past their defenses, despite seeing our nutritionally sound vegan diet restore our health 😖
Most interesting! I think we should get rid of the term "Vegan" as it can include an abominable diet. WFPB really describes this lifestyle best and the one I use for myself.
I hear you. There are so many unhealthy vegans out there doing such a disservice to the idea. But veganism isn't a diet. It is the rejection of unnecessary and and violent abuse and exploitation of others. We need to embrace both of these things. Good health and good ethics go together.
vegan is perfect. It is the best way of eating. There is no better term. I like wfpb, I even have WFPBV.com and wfpb in my email address. But, wfpb is merely an insufficient string of words. Vegan by default is absolutely healthiest. I explain why here: veganlinked.com/forums/topic/vegan-can-be-unhealthy-so-i-dont-use-the-word/
Hopefully you'll start using the word vegan instead.
@@VeganLinked I red your blogg post and I agree. To be vegan means caring about all life, ourselves included.
@@carinaekstrom1 neato, I haven't started using my forum on my website yet. So it's fun to hear somebody actually went there LOL. I probably should proof it!
Most elderly people have problems getting up off the floor. As a child you spend a lot of time on the floor, adults do not.
Doing yoga / stretching exercises on the floor can improve balance, mobility, flexibility and the ability to get up and down..
Just getting up and down to the floor in a controlled manner is difficult for many older adults.
Play with your children on the floor. Bend over, get down and pull weeds in your garden. Play with a pet on the floor.
The more effort you make to work on balance and flexibility will pay dividends as you age.
❤
I wonder if a baby could get cancer? Great video ❤
Yes babies get cancer all the time.
@@kcism3239 it's interesting you should ask since neuroblastoma is a cancer children often get and Dr Seyfried, who we refer to, often discusses the potential benefits of ketosis for this. That's kind of why I sort of said in this video I think children getting cancer haven't been around long enough for cumulative effects of toxins or diet.
Sadly babies get cancer all the time, St. Jude is a hospital specifically for childhood cancer. Dr. Greger has done videos on food affecting prenatal cancers.
i didn't quite get what you both were talking about at 1:02:25 about mustard powder to get (what morosonay? and sulfur?) and the dr chalenged your idea. not clear what both of your positionare .. and not quite sure what you guys were talking about there.

It's an anti-inflammatory compound in cruciferous vegetables. The closed caption probably needs to be proofed...
I recommend youtube channel Peter Rogers M D for a more detailed explanation of the chemical pathways and processes.
@@JackR772 yeah Peter's fun. The cool thing about Campbell is he doesn't get as derailed by mechanistic theories. The more nuanced some people get the more theoretical it is. At the end of the day a lot of people just want an executive summary. That's where human outcomes shine and ultimately matter the most.
Heart disease is the number one killer of people today and cancer is number two.
Being over weight is the number one factor leading to an early death.
People who are over weight have higher risks for high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
Even children today have signs of artery disease. Fast foods and sugary drinks have long term consequences.
There is an obesity epidemic today where over 60% of the population is overweight or obese.
What is common today and "NORMAL" is not healthy. The average person today is not healthy and is taking medications.
Heart attacks were once only common in people over 65. Today people in their 40 are having heart attacks.
Add more plants and vegetables to your diet and less junk and overly processed foods
Are wild sardines bad for you?
If you're merely concerned about biomagnification of environmental toxins then eating lowest on the food chain is likely your best bet. Sure, sardines are lower than other fish, but plants are the lowest. Plants are autotrophs, meaning they're producers of energy. Animals are consumers of energy. 90% of energy is lost every step up the food chain as bioaccumulation of toxins builds, esp. in fat. You likely would be consuming them for fat and some vitamins they would be considerable source for. But, there are better plant sources. Afterall, that's where the fish likely acquired those nutrients. If you don't trust your ability to get what you need from plants then supplement, like an algal supplement which is far more sustainable, the same fatty acids, etc... or trust the RDA for 1.6 grams of ALA via plants.

Get off the couch. Get off the iphone or ipad. Get up and go for a walk, run, bike ride , garden, work outside. Move more, sit less.
Really great interview ❤❤❤ i eat vegan, but i do use raw honey thats maybe bad?
Well, from an ethical standpoint all animal exploitation is because it invariably ends up with the animals being abused.
I wish you would have asked his opinion on chef aj and her lung cancer -just so shocking and horrible
I shot this over a year ago. I only held onto it this long because he wanted to reshoot it or add something to it. But, we never made that happen. So, I gave it one more edit over quick and published it so I can move on to what I'm working on next. I don't think Dr Lowndes would add anything to what Chef AJ already has covered with her oncologist and large variety of doctors she's talking to. She's basically covered her situation as thoroughly as can be. Dr Lowndes would have to speculate without knowing her situation intimately enough, making assumptions might be inappropriate. Thanks for watching and commenting!
