The Most Epic Battle In BATB History
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 лис 2020
- The premise of 2014's “Pros vs. Joes,” our seventh season of BATB, was simple: unknowns go up against the best in the biz. It was also the first Battle At The Berrics Finals to be broadcast live. So, when Michigan’s Cody Cepeda pulled off an upset against odds-on favorite Luan Oliveira the whole world could experience the resulting mayhem in The Berrics. The crowd of fans jumped off the bleachers; the stampede knocked all the barriers over. The 1,000 or so fans in the arena joined hundreds of thousands more who were glued to their screens, witnessing history in the making. Well, that’s definitely one way to get known.
Cepeda and Oliveira both returned in 2018 for BATB 11. This time, Oliveira rolled away with the vic-he's still our reigning champ.

Should be a new rule for Luan:
"No taking your tricks to the moon and back if your opponent merely popped his trick".
Like he could help himself avoiding it haha.
It's not just how high he can flip, is the whole motion, like if the board is glued to his feet, not to mention the speed...
His choice
@@carlomure ooohhhhhhh I didn't realise
It would probably be harder for him not to pop high. His timing and muscle memory is too strong going high. I love watching him skate.
i can't like this. it's at 666
Luan's tricks are prototypical. They are the most perfect versions of the trick possible.
ahh, apparently not?
@@cwr8618 he misses exactly because he only knows how to do them perfectly haha
@@lucasmontenegro8938 haha. dude is unreal for sure
As i read your comment @3:00 just so happened to play haha
@@smoothcoastin2484 lmfao
Berra: unfortunately all tricks must be done at under 40 mph.
Luan: [frowns in Portuguese]
Underrated comment
everytime I see luan he's always stoked and clapping for the other guys, the dude comes off humble n kool af.
Yeah buts kinda akward that he didnt clap his hands to the last trick!? I mean .. u know
@@kjdacod Probably about the point started feeling weird about getting away with two toe drags in the last few tricks
@Erratic Formula thats how the kool kidz spell it
See I got the total opposite, came off arrogant and smug to me
Luan is allowed 4 toe drags each battle because he skates 4x as fast as everyone else.@@BogusNoise
Ah yes the one with the classic comment: "weed vs cocaine"
Lol
Ishod Wair vs Luan Olivera 2 is a perfect example
Yo I laughed out loud reading this I remember
This comment should have 1B likes 😂😂😂🤣
thank you
So crazy that Cody didn’t miss a trick considering this was the final! Amazing battle!
He didn’t miss a trick the whole final. Landed everything in the semi too!
Fuckin Insane..
That’s my homeboy he’s always been a beast on the board
@@adamruiz8981 fr ? Bro he’s one of the best to do it
Doesnt matter if its final or first round if you start and land every trick
Better than any other sports show: No commentators, no stadion speakers. Just a pure battle and a hooting crowd!
i think you're 100% onto something. i want to see sports with zero fucking interruptions. no commenters, no music, just pure sport
There's some street ball basketball stuff that gets hype like this. I'm a skater but you might like those channels. Its more adversarial
This shows you how different skaters are, they cheer both sides and clap each other.
No rivalry or favourites shows just great sports men and appreciation of skills
Fact 💯💯
batb12 championship vibes are a bit different i feel like...
The Most Epic Reaction to a Pressure Flip in BATB History
True
Noo when prod landed that 540 flip vs pj Ladd guy took off his clothes
I think it was a nod to Koston because if I remember right Koston did that same pressure flip in that same batb before he was eliminated
@@pop3754 that wasnt some guy that was jimmy fuckin carlin
It was a back foot heel flip.
I totally agree on this comment “ Man bring back Johnny Giger
Yes, I'd love to see Giger back. He's learned so much more and is even more consistent than he was in his first appearance at the berricks.
not sure if it makes sense to bring a flatground-only skater to this competition. Wouldn't really be fair imo
He is so boring...
@@ozneztarg he does tre’s to primo wym boring ? 😂
@@2Swift4u hard work is not unfair.
Cody Cepeda was unstoppable during BATB7. He didnt miss a single trick during the whole final. Cody had to win against Trent McClung, Shane O' Neill, Tom Asta and Sewa Kroetkov to reach this final.
oh wow those are battles against beast after beast after beast
Luan seems like a super humble dude
Yeah man, as a brazilian i can see honestly his humbleness, hes such a good guy
Man I still remember sitting in history class hiding my phone under my hoodie watching this when it went down. Still blows my mind
Trying to hold back reactions to the tricks lol
You know it
Well at least you were still studying history.
I was lucky enough to have interesting history lessons, I didn't have to use my phone there, miss those times
What year did this game of sk8 happen?
Dylan Jaeb let's get a BATB with him..he is insanely good
Right 🙌
He’s not unknown
@@lukechambery3135 I didnt say he was. Just wanna see him in a BATB episode
Yes
only way to make it fair is if they make Dylan redo if he flails his arms 😂
Man I love Luans skateboarding as much as the next dude, but I still have gained mad respect for Cody here. Comes into this tournament as a Joe and just takes it all. Drops double flips left and right and has such a deep bag of tricks and doesnt choke at all in this final. I know he does not pop it as high as Luan (who does really lol), but its consistent and clean.
Crazy; not only did he blank Luan, he didnt even give him a turn, in the Finals. Crazy! Guess Cepeda knew that if Luan had a turn it was probably over. Cepeda GOATed for this.
And people says Michael Jackson is KING of POP 😈
stolen
Lmao
Luan or Tiago, best pop is definitely from Brasil
Luan, Zion, and Nyjah are almost unparalleled in the new gen when it comes to pop.
This comment is on every Luan BATB video
Luan’s style is SO much more fun to watch. That pop is insane and he is blazing fast
Luan has such a sick style, i love how hard he pops
Holy 💩, remember when we’d all squeeze into an event like this?
No
@@jordandesmet6593 L
That was just life.
Okay zoomer
Don’t be a puss, you still can. The “experts” are jack asses
Luan’s Moon gravity 🔥
Watched this a few times over the years. The fact that Cody held court the whole match speaks volumes. But lets get real.. Cody wasn't no avg joe even back then. Dude has mad skills.
The crowds response to everything : OOOHHHH
this was awesome btw
Man bring back jonny giger
Jonny giger is luans older brother
@@Hrod24 that cap
@@Yourmom-re6il yeah hahaha he looks like he could be his older brother 🤣
@@Hrod24 ya he kinda does
cody is mad underrated he’s such a good skater
I love how Juan like clicks his feet out then in when he’s setting up his feet. Not to mention how beautiful his tricks are but even the setup is nice 💯
Every trick Luan does is so amazing to look at. Just his pop and his style. Always will be my fav skater of all time!!
We gone need versace plug, Jonny Giger, Dylan Jaeb, and Jaime Griffin
Versace plug was in BATB. He landed like 2 tricks and the match was a minute long
Jonny giger has also already participated I think
@@Alex-lq1uf To be fair I think versace plug has gotten alot better, he was 17 at the time. Also yeah Johnny giger was super young too he has basically every trick in every stance on lock right now so I would love to see them both.
@@duncanstewart2439 Versace got smashed because he's really good at making tricks look good but he isn't the most consistent in his caliber of skaters
@@ReaperPLUR he used to skate competition back in Germany so I think he has to be pretty consistent but who knows maybe he got smoked bc it was a bad day or he was high lol
I don't care who won this, luan absolutely stole my heart here with tge hight, style and speed of his tricks
It was the atmosphere that made this game what is was, I come back every now and again to watch it. Always blows my mind.
1:01 "vai errar em, errou" só os br no fundo
KKKKKKKKKKK vdd
Das ist wahr
What I love about this isn't just that the Joe won, or that luan demonstrates the pro level with his pop and steez, or that the sportsmanship and love is evident without ego/aggression, also that even tho Cody won without a letter you can't say he beat luan easy and the battle was boring. Luan threw down answers to hard tricks and showed he's a beast, but Cody just had the will of a legend in him that day.
Like I'm a huge Luan fan, but it was just so right to see Cody win for the Joe's in spectacular fashion
May 23rd, 2021 and this is still the most amazing game of rock, paper, scissors that I have ever seen
I never get bored of watching Luan pop those tricks that high at that speed. Blows my mind every time.
Ya'll already know, bring back the Swiss flatground magician/technician
He stands no chance against a consistent skater... his tricks are hard so the probability of missing is bigger than P Rod or Luan landing like 10 basic tricks in a row... I'm talking straight science here...
Luan finishes his tricks on the way up. It looks so good
He always lands everything. So good! I was just skateboarding with him and tcmt
I made the rookie move of reading the description before watching. I was so ready to pull on my crank to some flippy poppys. They get my dorsal veins in my shaft all GORGED! God bless y’all!
Johnny Giger for sure
He likes to crack under pressure tho
Jonny giger again please
I love going through these and trying to name every trick
That dude pops with so much vigor and tenacity
This is, in my opinion, the single greatest moment in all of sports history. To have a Pros vs Joes theme in itself was truly amazing, bringing all of these lesser known names to the surface, but Cody’s journey through this tournament on its own is the stuff of legends. Round 1 against Trent McClung, he finds himself at T before he even gets a chance to set the trick, but still finds a way to battle all the way back for the win. He goes on to take out Shane O’Neil and Tom Asta, two of the worlds most elite flat-ground skaters, and earns a spot in finals night.
First game against Sewa; doesn’t miss a trick. Flawless win.
Second game against Luan motherfucking Oliveira; Doesn’t. Miss. A. Trick. Absolutely flawless. This is a fairy tale. This isn’t supposed to happen in real life. Thank you Berrics for making this a reality
Cody definitely one of the best flatground skaters, Luan definitely the king of pop and a super humble dude
I get those goosebumps every time.
It feels good to see so many people packed together again. I know that sounds bad but social distancing is depressing. Nice to see this for a change
I love to see some classics on my birthday 🍻🔥

Happy birthday! 👊

Nollie backside double heel flip was clean the first time jeez
Still don’t get why it was a redo
@@nicklas500 just wanted to try to give luan a chance to do some of his tricks I guess... Berra was definitely leaning his way as he got further and further behind. Half his foot was dragging on the pressure heel but they counted it. You can even see him joking about it in the background before the next trick.
Everything has to be super steezy If not it don’t count
Que vibe top! Sou raiz do sk8 desde 1993 , e na minha opinião um dos esportes com maior união e positividade entre atletas .
The crowd had full reason to be so hyped, what a show of skill
os caras gritando "errou hein, errooou" kkkkkkkkkk

po mano falou mt a real agora
It is unreal how clean these guys are
What an awesome moment for Cody. So cool.
Great battle, but in my opinion the greatest battle was Prod vs PJ ladd where prod lands that fakie 540 flip in his last try!
pj ladd vs shane oniell
@Beyond3r z fr PJ vs Moose has to be my favorite one ever just looking at the match itself. But PJ vs Prod had that finals crowd reaction. If PJ vs Moose would've been the final everyone would remember it as the best battle ever
@@fernandoreyes680 pj might be the goat
luan vs Sewa
@Beyond3r z but pj won only with inward heel combinations
BATB 6: Moose Vs Ladd will always be the most epic battle
exactly what i thought of when I saw the title
@@Jake-dc8yx actually I think that the Pj vs P-rod was the best or Luan vs Sewa :)
Word!
definitely Moose
Fax 💯 best finals for me was batb6 prod vs pj 🔥
Cody Cepeda so calm and smooth the whole time. Luan applauded every trick.
We need a boys vs mens BATB - the under 20 super talented kids vs over 30 pro heavy weights.
thats basically the pro vs joes hahaha
Bring
Back
Jonny
Giger
Ahhh yes jonny giger
Damn can’t believe this was 6 years ago! Good ass times
It's all about self confidence and focus.amazing battle
6:20 “I don’t know what they were talking about that was perfect” in the background 😂
damn, please bring jonny giger back!
they won't because no one would have a chance
@@BrothersofOG I don't know a lot about skateboarding, but I've been watching Giger's videos that were recommended to me cause I think it's interesting. Obviously he's good and a Professional, but is he like the best current skater or something?
@@dirtywindshield5034 Not necessarily but he probably has the widest range of flat ground tricks out of any professional skater worldwide, he could land tricks that not a single other person in the tournament could land
@@dirtywindshield5034 he aint the best at all. Just has a crazy bag of circus kinda tricks. Him and cody should play skate.
@@newmason5572 i mean if you see kickflip underflip as a circus trick
2 completely different styles is so cool to see like this
Skateboard brotherhood runs deep. Im almost certain each and everyone of us is still in touch with someone we grew up skating with ✌
When you get skunked but it doesn't feel bad.
Luans pop! So high and sounds so good too.
I love that they allowed some hardcore toe drag on luans pressure flip. Keep the game alive and the hype up and people loved it.
I was there and the crowd was wild! Great night.
5:15 Koston actually put money on Luan
The Berrics had to call Air traffic control to make sure the skies are clear before the game.
It’s so weird that I’ve completely forgotten everything about this battle considering how iconic this was.
I want to cry seeing battles from nowadays
kkkk
the quality looks so much better here, not choppy like the original
For once, the title is not clickbait. Cody is a consistent beast!
Arrepia só de ver e ouvir até hoje 💥💥💥💥
They are both so steezy in their own ways
And people says Michael Jackson is KING of POP 😈
I was thinking the same thing throughout, they both landed nearly all the tricks, what some would say "perfectly" but completely different from each other. I love skateboarding :)
This game of skate so beautiful makes me tear up 😥
I remember watching this as I was cookin lunch, god damn good times
5:33 shoulda been a redo. Common ref.

Bruh Luan was giving me anxiety with that speed and pop
I remember tuning in to the livestream from Australia for this. It was one of the greatest sporting moments, let a lone skating (if you want to include skating in sport), of all time. And then you also had the chris chan v chris cole match in the same BATB too. Unbelievable.
Luan’s style is always so good to watch
Everybody cool till Chris Chan pulls up w dragon flip
Pls invite Christoph Radtke from Germany, he's an absolute beast!
That first double back heel was clean
Yep I would also agree this battle was the most epic. Wow.
Steve, that nollie back double heel was perfect. No touch at all and he rolled away. I don't get it
Absolutely no toe drag. When you slow the video down it's super clear. I don't get it either.
And Luan had his back foot touch the ground on the pressure flip
When you re upload older content, could you please add the names of the tricks like in newer BATB-videos? Would make life much easier for newbies like my self lol.
cmon man just keep skating
I grew up near port Huron Michigan where cepeda is from. Such a great battle.
This was like throwing a perfect game
No the most epic was Luan against Sewa AND Joslin, coming back both games and finally wins one after missing out for 2-3 years
Ya ya ya
I wanna see jonny giger clap everyone
You would think it would be hard for the same exact tricks to look different but Luan is so good and makes them look so much better!!! He makes it seem like hes doing different tricks.
Dang both are insane , crazy bag of tricks !!
It said is the best so I wanna see the best 😎😎
Moose v PJ was the best BATB ever IMHO
