It then breaks the chains binding the trio and lays the unconscious Aqua and Ventus safely on the ground. Terra-Xehanort is surprised by Terra's heart taking control of the vessel and insists that it had been consumed by the darkness, but the Dark Figure removes its bandages and declares the promise to set things right it had made as Terra. While the Dark Figure is keeping Terra-Xehanort restrained, Sora quickly uses his Keyblade to expel Xehanort's heart from Terra's body, allowing Terra's heart to reclaim his rightful body and finally terminating the existence of the Dark Figure.

Roxas explains to future Sora that he needs his help to reclaim "the last key" as that is what is binding him to the world and that it helped connect his heart to Lea and Xion's. Future Sora promises to fulfill Roxas's desire and releases his heart with the Keyblade which combines with the replica. Now fully recompleted, Roxas halts the attack against Sora and Xion and explains to the shocked Xemnas that Xehanort had replicas ready and waiting for each of the hearts of Organization XIII, and that he owed his return to many, including Ansem the Wise and Ienzo. He also states that Sora helped him return.

The right half of Vanitas's mask breaks off, revealing his face to Sora; Vanitas explains to the shocked boy that they look alike because Sora's heart replaced him as the missing piece of Ventus's heart, thus making the three of them "brothers". Sora and Ventus implore their "brother" to join their side and reject the darkness; however, Vanitas states that he is darkness, and in that sense, is already by their side as the shadow they cast. He then fades away, content with the role he has chosen for himself.

Lea is disgusted at that Saïx let the Organization reduce him to this state and says he thought everything was for their missing friend. Saïx confirms that he did sacrifice everything to find her, but seeing Axel make friends with Roxas and Xion and abandon him and their missing friend infuriated Saïx beyond all reason, causing him to lose all sense of purpose. Lea, feeling guilty for this, notes he did not forget them, and Saïx sadly agreed that Lea wouldn't be that type of person, admitting that he was jealous of Lea's new friendship with Roxas and Xion. After making amends with his friendship with Lea, Saïx fades away, becoming the ninth member of the real Organization to fall.
