- Finally, a movie theatre popcorn recipe at home is revealed. After decades in the entertainment industry I will show you how to make authentic tasting movie theatre popcorn using the exact same ingredients the big movie theatre companies use. In the 1950's, 60's and early 70's movie theatres used clarified butter topping (butter with the milk solids & water removed). This type of butter, not only super delicious but it kept the popcorn crisp and not soggy like traditional butter. Since the 70's theatres switched to a soybean oil based butter flavoring product that is used today. I prefer the taste of the real butter, the clarified butter aka Ghee which you will see in this episode. If you would like to purchase any of the ingredients, I've listed them below with amazon links.

I’ve been making the exact same popcorn for years. Finally someone who knows what he’s talking about
Thank you, that’s nice to know, always nice to see a fellow popcorn enthusiast
Your popcorn looks amazing. Love the crunchy sound in the end
Thank you appreciate the feedback
One of my Local Supermarkets sells huge bags of movie theater popcorn for $5. It I got that amount at the theater, it would cost around $40. Movie theater popcorn was one of the things I missed during the pandemic.
Maaaan I could go for this popcorn right now! I love popcorn so much, especially the movie theatre one!
Thx, yes I agree it’s the best and only way to go 👍🏼
Yes! I LOVE movie theatre popcorn. I’ve actually seen people on TikTok go to the theatres just to get a big bag of popcorn.

Thank you 😊
The popcorn looks awesome, it is a must try tomorrow I have some good movie to be watch call "a dream field" it is going to be perfect movie night with some popcorn
Give it try 😊 if you use the exact ingredients I suggest it will be just like movie theatre popcorn 🍿 thanks 😊
As someone who works at a theater, you got everything right except our butter is flavored soybean oil
As someone who has managed theatres across multiple states, theatres also use butterfat aka Ghee as well. In fact butterfat is what was originally used in theatres until the cheaper alternative of oil based butter flavoring was introduced. Thx for your time and reply
@@FoodMadeSimpleReal not where I live we don’t use ghee as it contains milk lol butter is not served in movie theaters anymore it’s artificially flavored now
@@tygeworldwide348 butterfat aka Ghee IS used in some theatre across the country, maybe not where you live, that’s totally possible but it’s still used along with oil based butter flavoring like Superkist, which is probably what your used too
I’ve been using flavacol and I’m not kidding it works amazingly.
That’s the good stuff! Nice 👍🏼
I love it!
Thanks so much!!
Can I have an extra large size please. Your popcorn looks so good Mark.
One XL coming right up, haha thanks Pik
also in the movie theaters where I live at the butter station, you can but regular salt as well (but I think thats to salty)
Ah yes that’s true
So yummy and tasty 👌 great sharing my friend 🤝 stay connected and full watch your video

Thank you 😊

Thank you
Hey man popcorn came out great! How big is the popcorn bucket you used at the end?
Thanks so much. The tub is about equivalent to a medium popcorn at most movie theaters (around 105oz. The mesuremts are about 7.25” x7.25”. Here’s a link. I got it from Amazon and it’s washable/plastic. It’s been great. Are "Orville Redenbacher's Gourmet Popcorn Kernels, Original Yellow, 8 Lb" the best kernels or would you recommend another one? Got everything you mentioned in the video other than the kernels, can't wait to try it!
Yes that brand will be fine. One error in the text of the video is the Flavacol salt measurement. Use 1 teaspoon per 1/2 cup of seed rather than 1 tablespoon. Enjoy and let me know how you like it.
Made it last night and it turned out amazing!! A couple questions though, do the movie theaters use actual clarified butter or a more processed butter type product? Because although it turned out amazing, I could taste the clarified butter (which was great) but I do not recall tasting this when I go to the movie theaters, so was just wondering if they use something different. The kernels I got as well popped into those ball type popcorn, which was great but do the movie theaters use more of the butterfly type? Thanks again for your video and help in this! =) @@FoodMadeSimpleReal
@@xx-ix7hg so glad you enjoyed. At one time all movie theaters used real butter, specifically clarified butter aka Ghee. Ghee has milk solids and water removed so it would not make the popcorn soggy like regular butter people typically use at home. Unfortunately clarified butter is very expensive. This spurred theatre chains to look for a less expensive option. This gave birth to what is used today which is just a soybean oil based product with other added ingredients. So basically what you get at theatres today is butter “flavoring” aka butter topping. Odell’s Supurkist is a popular brand theatres use which is also sold on Amazon. With that said, although it is 2-3 times more expensive there are still some independent theatres still using real butter such as the Ghee/clarified butter. I hope this helps
can we use canola oil instead of coconut oil?
also what’s the best amount of flavacol if i want medium saltiness
Hello, yes you can use canola oil. Some theatres use canola rather than coconut oil. For med saltiness use 1 tsp of flavacol
nice
Thank you 😊
I always use this popcorn machine twice in a Saabkyle04 month
Awesome!
Thanks
Hi! New friend and new subscriber here. I hope we stay connected. Full watch and full support always. Thank you once again and see you soon
Thank you very much and welcome to ,y channels family. I hope to see you again
what size pot was used?
We are going to try this!
Great to to hear. Anything 3qt - 6qt pot should work fine. Just use 1tsp of the flavacol salt not 1 tblsp from perfect amt of salt. You can always add more if you like it super salty. Let me know how it comes out!
@@FoodMadeSimpleReal Thank you again! We've been making this recipe now for a while, found out the best way is to mix the popcorn seeds with all the ingredients thoroughly in the bottom of the 8 Quart Stainless Steel Stockpot we only use for popcorn; then we also mixed some of the Flavacol Seasoning Salt in the Ghee and poured that over the top of the popped corn, then tossed until all the popcorn was coated evenly. We occasionally still get a few burned kernels.
Nice
Thank you
I want some please.. two buckets
Haha I will send them your way, thx for stopping by

정말 고마워요
Ive been making this in my popcorn machine for years, its delicious but doesnt have the exact movie theater taste any idea why?
What type of popping oil & salt flavor are you using?
@@FoodMadeSimpleReali use flavacol and buttery flavoured coconut oil with beta carotene. It is delicious but doenst mimic the exact movie taste im looking for. Ive also tried the premade packets no luck either
@@TheDankner15 for 25+yrs I’ve managed movie theatres for 3 of the top 5 largest theatre chains in the US. Movie theatre make popcorn using the same ingredients I show in the video. We do not use buttery flavor coconut oil so try the coconut oil in the video (avail on Amazon). Also make sure your placing the flavacol in with the seed when you add the seed to the oil as this helps the salt flavor infuse with the kernels as they pop. If your using reg household butter that also will not give you the right flavor. Theatres use an oil based butter flavor and or Ghee although Ghee is used rarely these days because it’s much more expensive www.popntop.com/pdf/OdellsSuperKistNT_123014.pdf
I hope this helps
Perfect 👌🏻👌🏻👍👍👍😋😋😋
amazing popcorn recipe
Thank you 😊
Very nice 🙂 sharing
Thank you 😊
I like my popcorn soggy 💀
We still love popcorn 😁
Cap. Movie theater popcorn is popped using butter flavored oil. Oil with propylene glycol added.
While that is found in some “microwave popcorn” it is not used in movie theatre popping oil
