I actually did a test on what popcorn popped the most in elementary as an at home science project for school, I don’t remember the results or all the popcorn my dad and I tested; but I do remember that Orville Redenbacher gave you the most pop for your buck and their classic butter flavor was really good. My personal favorite was Jolly Time’s Blast o Butter flavor

I used to work at Cinemark. I have to say after eating their popcorn for an entire year every single shift, and even bringing home large quantities of the leftover popcorn at night, I freakin love their popcorn

As someone who worked at a theater, it DEFINITELY depends on who makes the popcorn. (I can make some pretty good popcorn, or so, guests have said)
Don't you just make one big serving and scoop it throughout the day though? How would they know who made it?
@@rolo0o where I worked we went through popcorn pretty quickly, so fresh popcorn was always being made. Plus, there were always people who requested it fresh. They didn't know I was the one who made it, though I usually chose the cashier by the popcorn maker. They would compliment the popcorn when they returned to get a refill - it was pretty easy to know who among us workers made which batch.

Having worked for AMC for 4 years and having made quite a lot of popcorn, I can say that it's not fresh popcorn. it's made in huge batches and kept stored in bags until needed & warmed up. It's made with just powder, just your regular orville popcorn kernels and coconut oil. There is no butter on it when it's made. The butter is just "butter flavoring" that comes in a plastic bag in a cardboard box, like ketchup/mustard/soda.

I always did wish they would put some popcorn, then salt and butter, another layer of popcorn, another layer of condiments, until it was full. As opposed to getting a full bag of dried popcorn and then squirting the top a few times and then saying, "enjoy your movie". Inside I'm like.. "I'm gonna try but I'm already sad". XD

That's essentially what happened here. They're all made using the same process and ingredients. Often the exact same ingredients from the same companies. It's usually only independent theaters that use real butter or offer other seasonings that have any real difference.

At the cinema I work part time at, we charge $5 for 50cl soda and medium container popcorn, seems reasonable to me

I'm with Link on this one. If that Pacific popcorn has any burnt taste at all, it's gotta 5th. Burned popcorn has such an awful flavor that even a hint of it is terrible imo.

My uncle worked at a local movie theater for 2 years back in the mid 80's and I can confirm that more people came in just for the popcorn alone then to actually watch a movie.

Good Mythical morning! I'm a movie theatre worker of 3 years and may be able to shed some more light on our popcorn (keep in mind that I work at a local theatre that was recently bought out by a regional chain, so I can't account for large chains like AMC and Regal).
- Our popcorn is made with a seasoning called Flavacol (employees just call it Flav). It's an orange seasoning that has salt in but says it isn't a good source of iodine. It helps make the popcorn salty, but if we put too much in the popcorn will taste overly salty. We have a certain amount we put in. The carton of Flav also claims it helps make the popcorn smell good, which I don't have a hard time believing!
- If I remember correctly, we pop with canola oil as well.
- I'm always baffled when people say larger theatres use some sort of oil or butter substitute for their popcorn, because ours is real butter! Seriously, if we don't turn the heating element on, it would be a block of butter. One time an employee turned off the butter machine overnight and so the next day we had to wait like, 4 hours before we could use the butter because it wasn't melted.

i used to work at Cobb/CMX and we use an off brand of flavacol and sunflower oil, with a do it yourself butter dispenser
Is salty popcorn the prefered taste in the us in general? In my country salted popcorn is a thing but most prefer and order sweetened popcorn. When I worked in cinema here we had a tiny section for making salty popcorn (we used seasalt) and 3 big sections for sweetened popcorn (2 for plain sugared popcorn because the demand was so high and 1 for special popcorn f.e. sugar and cinnemon in winter or caramel -vanilla and so on) We often only made half a machine full of salted popcorn because nobody wanted it. The customers who didn't like sweet popcorn mostly ordered nachos or a bag of chips.

With regal crown club popcorn is super cheap. $2 for a large popcorn
Box popcorn is the best because you have pick several of options and your get several packages and it's cheaper than buying a box from the movies if you say it's always overspiced than you can also get that one and make your own and spice it yourself

Amc seems to have varying popcorn tastes depending on the location. My local one has popcorn that is comparable to packing peanuts, but the location an hour away has great popcorn. Its weird.

But i dont know about you but i dont jump back and forth from currencies...... so at the end of the day what you empty from your pocket is less than mine. if you buy a video game its 59.99 (i believe) and i buy one its 79.99 which is 90$ after tax.
