I cannot even explain the joy I feel when there's a new jrose11 video. Especially when it's one of my favourite pokemon. Tentacruel one of my favourite
Meh, don't think it would be very interesting. He already did the first and final form of those Pokémon. That gives us a solid view of how the middle form would perform.
Jrose uploads are always coming in clutch, just got laid off and backing up my things, really needed something to listen to to get through this, thank you for the upload 🙏
Jrose: "That luck [missing two consecutive Wraps, 2.2% chance] is not acceptable" Game: "You're right, it shouldn't be that good. Have this 0.4% luck instead"
@@doyourmath826 I'll indulge on this normally very nitpicky and petty reply because your name is suitable, but no since the gen 1 miss also affects the Wraps it would be 2.23%.
I might be wrong here but taking into account gen 1 misses increases the odds of missing twice in a row. It's 0,156^2=2,4336%. So it should round to 2,4%
Gen 1 miss only affects moves with 100% accuracy. With less than 100% the result that causes a gen 1 miss would result in a regular miss, even without the bug. So you should not count it as an extra possibility.
@@vnenno you definitely should still count it. Just bc you can't tell if it's a gen 1 miss or not doesn't exclude the fact it still happens. But a gen 1 miss can happen with any move.
I really appreciate you putting yourself through all these runs just to see how good/bad each and every Pokémon is in this challenge. Every time you upload, I know I’m in for some great entertainment
People really sleep on the Tentacool line. Despite it being the known as the Zubat of the sea, it did pretty well. Makes me remember a time when Tentacruel was used in Ubers for competitive play
Its one of the coolest lines of all i always liked tentacrool it was one of the big bad ones. The 3d designs are too rounded and fked up thats why splash arts looked so much better.
Since this is a heavy Wrap run, a quick primer on Wrap in Gen 1 competitive for those who don't know: First, AgiliWrap, the cheese strategy that Dragonite is infamous for: You para everything, make sure Rhydon is dead for PP reasons, get Dragonite in safely (probably via Explosion), then start rolling 85% Wraps and 50% full paralysis checks. Incredibly frustrating when you lose to it, but it's not as good as you think, which is why Dragonite is not OU. 67% of a Gen 1 OU team probably has an ice move, and the rest of the team probably has Thunder Wave, so finding a free turn to safely click Agility can be quite rare. Dragonite is the only mon with Agility + Wrap; Fire Spin + Agility also exists on a few mons, but Fire is an awful defensive type in Gen 1 competitive so it doesn't see use. Tentacruel in UU also uses Wrap, however it uses it much differently. Wrap mechanics are such that if you're in the middle of Wrap, and you switch, the opponent does not get to move that turn (they can still switch), so against anything Tent outspeeds, it's effectively modern U-turn spread over two moves. Very useful for getting a frail offensive mon like a Kadabra or a Persian into battle safely.
Victreebel can do something similar with Stun Spore and Wrap, but it's much less reliable than the standard Wrap usage and the poison typing makes it very vulnerable to all the Alakazams and Kadabras running around. It does get guaranteed Razor Leaf crits, though.
Solid information, though I did notice a minor error; In fact, a few months ago I also used to believe full paralysis had a 50% chance, but a friend recently looked it up and pointed out it is actually only 25%.
Admittedly this is a silly nitpick but I feel like since tentacool didn’t hit level 63 until after the final battle ended, she should get 62 on the tier list. The same thing has almost certainly happened to other Pokémon in these challenges, but I was so focused on exp and levels bc of the commentary so now I feel like our beautiful jellyfish has been slighted and I will revolt against this channel if justice isn’t served /j As usual awesome stuff from the channel, loved the color palette and the editing!
Hey man! Wanted to say I love the series and thank you! It's very funny to imagine this tiny Tentacool just plopping on top of all of the Elite Four's giant Pokemon with Wrap and slowly wearing them down into oblivion while they just sit there.
You know it put a smile on my face when I saw you reseting and battle Erika again just because you didn't like being lucky.. it's been awhile we have seen that maybe an year or so and idk kinda felt like the old jrose. Don't get me wrong you are amazing even rn but because I have been watching you for so long sometimes i miss the old stubborn and persistent jrose in the old videos.
Welcome back Jrose! We're all so happy to see you kicking butt and gracing us with yet another awesome video. Hope you're doing well, and if you're not, then you best stop not doing well and start doing well again. You've single-handedly rekindled my interest in the original Pokemon games.
No matter how good or bad the stats/move pool or even factors like when they learn certain moves, i am always so fascinated when i see the notification that a new video dropped. Definitely was expecting a much worst run too so it was a pleasant surprise that it did better then i initially gave it credit. Way to go tentacool. Still looking forward to some mid stage runs but always happy to see a base stage run too. Keep up the amazing content. 👏
Tentacool was one of my first Pokemon, when I didn't understand the game and had a team completely of water types. Good times getting destroyed by electric and grass types. This brought me back.
These videos are amazing, the way you analyze the stats and how you handle this different situations. Sometimes it’s impossible but most of them you end up winning, has really impressed me.
If tentacool started with bubble it would of helped it’s time out quite a bit. Also swords dance is such a strange move for it to get. Wonderful video as always!
Tentacool gets poison sting because poisonous jellyfish use their tendrils to sting prey and inject venom. Cool pokemon! Look forward to the rest of the run.
I love Tentacool! I'm so glad you got it one of the best times, it deserves it. Tentacool was my first Pokémon back in the day and its amazing to see it thrive.
that Gen 1 miss was so fucking funny, I'm still laughing. and then Sky Attack crit to add insult to injury. Sometimes you play Pokemon, and sometimes it plays you.
A new video from my favorite UA-camr. I hope you don't get burnt out and move these challenges to other guns or even a similar format to something you like.
Ooooh boy. I know it's going to take a loooong time but I'm looking forward to seeing Jrose do all of these pokemon again in FireRed and LeafGreen to see how the ranking changed between generations.
The fact that jrose11 didn't end the champion battle or the video with the phrase 'that's a wrap' was kind of disappointing but otherwise a great video
@@l4unchp4dgaming38 I would argue that the worst type is fighting, but yeah poison is the second no doubt, Tentacruel has the same problem as gengar in Gen 1, awesome mon held back for being half-poison, if it was mono water it would be in OU with starmie and slowbro.
Yep. And the next fastest Pokemon that can have Spore is Smeargle who doesn't learn it by level-up and the next one is Breloom who also has to delay evolution to be able to get it. Though Scarlet and Violet fixed that somewhat with a wild Tera Breloom who has Spore.
Dude it's the same video every time. Just different Pokemon. Nothing flashy. I've watched every single one at least once. And I still get excited when a new one comes out. Why? Idk but I love it
Well given how Tentacruel is actually meta for Gen 4 speedruns, I'm not that surprised. If it wasn't the gen of Gyarados, Starmie and all the lovely broken psi mon going around, he wouldn't be that underated.
