Exactly- and that was her responsibility. I still can’t believe someone lost their life on a movie set in the 21st century because of such incredible irresponsibility.
I've been so mad about this and glad shes guilty. what a irresponsible person who was doing drug and bringing live ammos on set and killed hard working innocent crew!! Just because he daddy has been doing armer for couple of decades she got this gig and ended someone's precious one time life !!!! she should be in jail for life.
There are rumors that the crew were shooting the guns for fun after filming would wrap up for the day, and also there was talk of the union reps showing up to the set while the crew being used were strike breakers. These are rumors, though.
It's a terrible breakdown in safe practices. Tragedies like this simply cannot happen unless several safeguards are disabled which come together in a perfect storm. There should have been no live ammo anywhere on or around the set. There should have been nobody handling these guns at any time who didn't have a proper reason to do so directly related to the production. They should never have left locked storage at any time but for use in a scene and any necessary maintenance. Prior to use in any scene, the weapon should have been checked at several points beginning with the armorer and ending with the actor using it. Anyone downrange of the gun, including the woman who died, should have been wearing armor.
@kenofken9458 she loaded the gun and declared it safe. It was handed to AB and told it had been made safe. AB as an actor on set is not qualified, trained or insured to make determinations about the firearms. That is why they have redundancies in place. She had argued with him earlier in tye day. She loaded it with live rounds and told them it was safe. That's why she was convicted.
A year and a half in prison and a five thousand dollar fine seems like a small price to pay considering she was responsible for the death of someone, even if it was only through reckless endangerment
@@Alsayid He has money so he'll probably buy off the jury or judge. Anyways, it was his production company and what actually happened? Did he point and fire or did it ricochet off something?
@joejoewilson5130 just from what I remember, I believe the person who died was sitting behind a machine that films special shots, Alec was supposed to get a "cool" shot by firing directly at the camera. So he directly shot her through this machine, and I believe a ricochet hit another man working right next to her. I didnt see much of the trial though, so anyone feel free to correct me.
@canwetradenownetwork1241 Weakest so she shouldn't have been in that position Ever so look at the power structure and decision tree. so many more hands in this BS IMO
@canwetradenownetwork1241I cannot justly follow this logic. Replace this situation with an accessory to murder where a 25 year old lets his friend borrow his car, his friend catches a case, and now that 25 year old is a victim as well. But he still goes to prison. So id say youre right, the world works like that. But a just world would not.
@canwetradenownetwork1241 then I'll use a better analogy if that one doesnt strike you close to home. Youre treating this like shes a bus driver and nobody else has their hands on the wheel. If she taught them basic gun safety, she taught them to *never* point a mechanically real gun at another person. Ever. Because you cannot know what's in it. Accidents happen, and some accidents are too dire to risk. That is the *only* way to ensure nobody gets shot. If she is responsible for all guns on set, nobody on set should have a gun in their hand but her. Ever. At a certain point it becomes the responsibility of the adult to be responsible for others. Hence the car analogies lol I believe it fits very well to guns in general. If you crash your car outside the DMV right after I give you a license, I'm not saying you cant call my credibility into question. I'm just saying, you can't point at me for this specific scenario. Maybe if you discredit me you have grounds to have started drawing the conclusion of pointing at me. But in this case they must discredit themselves to discredit her, accusing her of being under the influence of marijuana cigarettes and coca. They basically saying "this b out here getting *SCHMACKED* and *SCHWASTED* and making us point guns at each other, did I mention her dads name is Pablo??" Like dog, you pointed a gun. And pulled the trigger. Double whammy. Triple and quadruple if you didnt check and double check the chamber
As she should but you telling me the actor didn’t know he was holding a real gun he didn’t see the bullets in the gun he didn’t feel how heavy it was he just shot it ?
I know they say you're not supposed to assume things, but if I'm on a MOVE SET, and someone hands me a gun on a MOVIE SET, I should be able to assume this thing does not have real bullets in it.
Eighteen months and 5k for a death. Mother is crying. Her daughter was loaded on cocaine and her behavior resulted in the death of a 40 yr old woman with a family and her whole life ahead of her. Why wasn't she drug tested immediately after the accident?
I used to work on film sets in the US and Ireland. The Armourer/Weapons Master was always fully responsible for firearms. Period. I know a lot of gun and military people are saying Baldwin should have checked the weapon. I don't doubt that it's standard practice amongst gun owners... But we never do. That's the Armorer's job. As Actor's we aren't trusted with weapons! The Armorer gives you a talk on weapon safety. He/she then explains the shot (scene) along with the Director. And only hands you the weapon just before the take. The Armorer watches you like a hawk during the take. And takes the weapon back into charge once the shot is finished. The same when being squibbed (electric charges with fake blood pouches) when your character is shot. The special effects people were in charge of that and briefed us in detail before the shot. Everyone on the set has a specific role. At least that's how it should be! I have to say even on low budget productions the Armorer's always knew their stuff. And weren't laid back Kids! I never saw one under thirty. Most were middle aged. They made you very aware that firearms weren't like regular props. It looks like they hired this daughter of an Armorer on the cheap. I'm hoping her Dad is/was more professional. She doesn't even seem sure who had guns at a given time. Anyway I'm speculating. But as much as people want to blame Baldwin (some because they don't like the Guy) he did nothing wrong on the day. I know if I opened the gun to check it I would expect to be reprimanded by the Armorer and/or Director. It just isn't our job. They might be able to use the Producer angle to hold Baldwin responsible in some way. I don't know I'm not a Lawyer. But that depends if he was really involved in producing. Sometimes Stars get a Producer credit. But it's just an honorary title. I kind feel a little sorry for the Armorer she doesn't come across as someone who should have been given so much responsibility. Running errands would have been a better start for her.
I agree that it was 100 percent the armourers responsibility to make sure the guns were not loaded with love rounds as well as any other issues with Gun safety. Baldwin was the producer but he hired an armorer for his set, my gosh the least she could do is make sure a gun given to an actor doesn't have real bullets in it. Now if Alwc hasn't even hired an armorer it would bear more responsibility for Alex but he did. And I'm sure he expected them to actually do their job correctly for the safety of all on set. This was such a tragic situation and could've been COMPLETELY avoided if only she had done her job correctly.
Actually, George Clooney has said that he always checks the guns before every shot just to be sure and that Baldwin should've done the same. I can see both sides and obviously when you get mega star status like Clooney you're given much more leeway. I've never acted in a Movie production before so I wouldn't know from personal experience.
There are multiple sources that indicate the armorer is not solely responsible for gun safety on the set, including Baldwin’s own union procedures. Hannah bears much, but this was a multiparty fiasco.
That's the thing tho, while partial blame lays on her shoulders, it is obvious that the tragedy occurred due to the larger systemic issue. This armorer has no experience, clearly does not understand or has ever operated on large sets. The fact they hired her for a westerner out of all things, where she has to oversee massive orchestration of weaponry amongst multiple actors every single day is crazy. I don't doubt they did it to save money. Just like they did with every other thing on this set, prioritizing money over basic safety protocols. No wonder all union crew members left this mess. Regarding Baldwin, there is a video where he hurries her in one of the scenes to do another shot without doing a proper check-up. The fact the armorer pulled ammo out of a purse belt is insane. But what's also insane is the way Baldwin behaved in that video. He is a decades-old professional who seems to lack any care for gun safety despite his experience. And you can see that everyone around him didn't say anything, it seems he was this dominant figure that no one could say "no" to. Technically, it was the armorer's job to say "No" and maintain protocol of checking the gun. But because of Hannah's lack of experience and because of her very young age, I can't imagine her opposing this Big Figure in front of her even if she wanted to. Such a young person should never have been on that set. I truly empathize with the blame she carries for this horrendous case
@@insenkiv4619 I saw that clip. Grade A A-hole. But she took the job and is to blame. Having said that the 1st AD or Director should have taken on Baldwin when she didn't. But the responsibility is hers. She was 'supposed' to be in charge of firearms and firearm safety.
How could she have been found not guilty for the charge of tampering with evidence? She clearly thought the bag content was cocaine. Also, there were accounts she showed up for work hung over! There should be mandatory drug testing for anyone responsible for handling firearms!

I love how many in the comments are saying they feel bad for Hannah when she was the one in charge of the weapons on set, unprofessional enough allowed LIVE ammo on the set and get it mixed up with the dummy rounds. The environment doesn't matter because one of the most important duty's an armorer has to do to worry about the safety of the cast and crew around their weapons. She clearly failed that. The fact she was found to have cocaine in her system at the time also shows she didn't take that responsibility seriously. That manslaughter conviction rightfully should stand for all that alone
I feel bad for her because there is no proof that she loaded the gun with the live rounds. It's just assumed because for any other possibility to be true means that someone acted nefarious. Which is exactly what I believe happened. I have seen all the evidence of this trail. While I leave open the door for Occam's razor of Hanna's negligence. I still find the evidence already known about Alec's motive to be far more convincing.
@@adamappell1212 Are you implying that Alec deliberately loaded live rounds in the middle of a crowded room while no one was paying attention? That seems very unlikely.

This seems like people taking the easy route, picking off the easy target rather than pursuing what actually happened. It doesn’t speak well of the DA that they were only able to convict the person w/ the least amount of money. Seems there’s at least two other people w/ equal or greater culpability.

She is the sole person responsible for what happened. Yes Alec could have checked each bullet and shake it to see if it had BBs in it but that isn't his job, it's hers. There were a lot of safety issues on that set and someone decided to put live ammo in the gun, likely to prove a point and it resulted in death.
She is the only one responsible for the death of that woman. On set firearm safety starts and stops with her. She set him up. It is no coincidence that she aregued with him just a few hours before she handed him a loaded gun claiming it was safe.
@jamescaldwell2357 not on set. That's why people are hired to do certain things. An actor is not trained, insured or qualified to make such inspections, thus not allowed to determine if a weapon is safe. It's an insurance thing. It passed through 2 sets of hands before it was given to him. She loaded it. That makes her responsible. The person she handed it to allegedly inspected it and said it was safe. It was then handed to him to use. He holds ZERO liability. This wasn't a bunch of drunks in the woods. It was a controlled set with redundancies that were supposed to be in place.
as someone who has training with, regularly carries and owns firearms, I hope you stay far away from them with your logic, because it breaks every basic rule.
@codybolton9387 the rules on a movie set are different than in normal use. There are layers of safety. As ive said before. An actor is literally, and i fucking mean LITERALLY are not allowed to check a weapon. You obviously don't know that.

Soft punishment for accidentally taking a person's life. I also agree with the defense attorney that there should be more charges brought up on other people that are responsible for this Woman's death. It doesn't seem like serious punishments are being given anyways sadly. A year and a half to the other people responsible is still a slap in the face but I guess any punishment for an accident that took a person's life is some type of Justice. Obviously it won't bring her back but some type of punishment has to be given otherwise this will continue to happen. Human beings are so careless. Now did Alec Baldwin point and fire this firearm at her or did it ricochet off something? I find it strange if he pointed and fired at someone.
Hannah Gutierrez looks like a strong woman. She made some bad decisions and as a result a life was taken. I'm sure she was prepared for that verdict. Lucky she gets under a year for the charge, maybe less on good behavior. I think her stepdad or whomever is more responsible for giving her the job. She will be out before she knows it. It's the family of Halyna Hutchins that wont get that same privilege. They will have to miss a mom/daughter/sister/aunt/cousin etc. for the rest of their lives.
@@endor8witchDid he have a choice of holding a real gun or a fake gun? As an actor he is told what to do. At that point the Director should be charged too since he is suppose to be in charge of the whole set.
The Director took a bullet to the body. They likely weren't going to charge the only alive victim. All three people involved in the loading and use of the revolver that afternoon were charged. Two have been found guilty. One to go in July. Sarah Zachary got lucky that her mistakes shot into the floor. If she was the one that loaded that revolver, she would have been charged too. They scared her into testimony because they could have charged her with negligent use of a firearm, but only a fine as nobody was hurt when she screwed up. So the DA used that possible misdemeanor to offer immunity if she squealed. She took that deal.
@Souls-Vet owned guns for decades have my FFL and still work with them. It's not the gun who kills people it's the person behind the gun. You leave any loaded gun on a table and watch it every never once does it get up and shoot anyone. You can kill someone with a pencil for christ sake. You afraid of firearms? No he cursed Cain and his whole bloodline, not the rock.
Idk, Alec isn’t an Armourer how tf would he know there were live rounds? He should be punished because people are punished for mistakes all the time, but not like this woman. This was literally her job.
Because she was reckless and irresponsible and was shooting live rounds out of the prop guns during free time during production. She even asked the prop house “can I shoot live rounds out of these?” And the prop guys said “F no” well she did anyways
Would you trust the doctor that smoked weed all through medical school, never trust anyone with critical work that does marijuana or cocaine, they think their memory is OK but it isn't, they forget details, important details.
I wouldn't be surprised, but is he actually responsible. The actor didn't load it, is the actor suppose to check the bullets after the armorer? Answer that question first before it being a rich vs poor. BTW IDGAF how young she is, that was her responsibility so wtf are you talking about.
You obviously have never been taugh basic gun safety. First and foremost, clear the gun. You personally are obligated to verify if any gun that you hold in your hand is or is not loaded, period. Second lesson, don't point a gun at anything that you do not intend to destroy. Third, it's your finger on the trigger, it's you that are in control.
@@effenbob3297 the second lesson doesn't even make sense in this context. They aim the gun at people all the time when doing a film. this is a movie production. The actors are not told to shake every bullet once its given to them to check if its a dummy or live round. so what are you talking about.
i would imagine the number 1 thing an armor is supposed to do is make sure no one gets shot and hua that didn't happen here. it's like the lookouts on the Tianic survived and I doubt they worked in shipping after that.
Baldwin will and should face liability because he's the producer, but last I knew, they were specifically charging him as the actor, which seems to be politically motivated more than anything. especially since they previously dropped the charge and kept waffling back and forth between charging and not charging him. So I don't think that will go anywhere. @@chuckhunter77
The actors were handed a prop and it turned out to be loaded with real bullets. The gun was in the custody of a trained professional that was hired with safety expressly in mind. I don't hold the actors... the non-gun professionals... accountable for the sad events that happened on that set. The production company and those in charge are responsible in terms of civilly. But I believe that they are not criminally responsible. Whoever brought live rounds to the set and put them in the gun. Whoever was responsible for insuring that the weapon wasn't "live" and safe to use as a prop is criminally responsible. As much as some people dislike Baldwin, he had no intention of firing a live round and was handed what should have been a functional prop.
I do think, depending on his involvement as producer (there are many levels and types), he may be culpable in some way (not as the actor who fired the shot). If not criminally, then definitely in civil court. He ran a shoddy ship and this is what happens.
Hopefully people in Hollywood. , whose responsibility is to insiure no one is hurt or killed at their hands , is vetted more carefully. This person clearly had no real idea how serious her job was.
Don't know why live ammo is on set. People upset Baldwin not on trial yet (coming soon) but not really his responsibility. He's an actor - not armorer, not special effects, etc. Those teams are responsible for their work. If yall think Baldwin culpable you might as well charge the extras and catering service.
Baldwin was the on set producer, in charge of her. He is just as responsible here and he was the one that pulled the trigger. I know youre fond of him for his anti trump rhetoric and will defend him because of that.
Why would anyone trust or hire a 26 yr old weapons supervisor? She could have been busy with her phone while on set that's why someone died and another injured. When it comes to safety, hire older ones who had at least a decade of experience. Producers should not be scrimping when it comes to safety.

You know which other industries employ armourers? The military, police, personal protection, any employer that issues firearms. He was not killed by a live round. It was an accident caused by the shell of blank being stuck from a previous shot (squib load). When the next blank went off it shot out the stuck shell and it hit Brandon. No live bullet killed him. Still someone should have checked for a clear gun. But a true accident as opposed to live round negligence. The industry changed after his death.
Alec Baldwin should also be on trial he's the one who pulled the trigger, he's the one who had the last reasonable opportunity to prevent the accident and he also had a degree of culpability since he also failed to check his own props and exert diligence. No one says it, so I have to do it. The last instance, fortress of reason, me. The most guilty in this case is Halyna Hutchins, DOP. She directed Alec's gun to herself, and she didn't use the other techniques, giving her the same visual effect in the safe way. Because she is dead, no one accuses her.
They basically saying "this b out here getting *SCHMACKED* and *SCHWASTED* and making us point guns at each other, did I mention her dads name is Pablo??"
Like dog, you pointed a gun.

Firearm safety does not stop and start with any one person. It is everyone's responsibility that comes into contact with the weapon.
@jamescaldwell2357 not on set. That's why people are hired to do certain things. An actor is not trained, insured or qualified to make such inspections, thus not allowed to determine if a weapon is safe. It's an insurance thing.
He ran a shoddy ship and this is what happens.

meanwhile Alec baldwin plays victim after pulling the trigger & killing a human being.
Who had access from the makers of the product all the way to the fatality? This case is bungled.
The armorer is a DEI clown?
Sorta, but it was more nepotism than DEI.
Is the judge using her mouth to speak..? Her face doesn't move!
THERE WAS live ammo on her Lape pictures don't lie .
She got off easy.
She got railroaded
She bad.
good she should be in prison
Yet the idiot who fired the weapon seems to have got away with it anyone with common sense should know not to fire blanks they can still be deadly
1:44 See? I KNEW IT! She had NO BUSINESS being an armorer!
She did not aim or pull a trigger, he was not supposed to either. Rule #1 of guns is always assume it is loaded, and never aim at someone you don't want to kill.
She can't babysit Alec and make him use it properly if he specifically hired the sets armorer and he was the producer as well. If she is guilty he is double guilty.
Oh grow up, women can do anything a man can until they fk it up, then they're a victim,🙄
Hannah is guilty. And it's a serious travesty that Alec Baldwin was ever charged. What many people do not understand is that the delegation of responsibility is under attack. If you jump into a cab and the cab driver gets into an accident and kills somebody, then is it your fault as the passenger? The way things are going someday it will be. Start saving for your lawyer fees now!
Hannah got railroaded. Baldwin was rushing her on the set. And he pulled the trigger. He's lying about it to cover his ass. He doesn't care about anyone else but himself. He threw her under the bus. I hope that his career is finished as well. He's an idiot who claims to be an expert firearms handler. BS
The law and the judge here didn't do anything to correct this problem again whether I have a drinking problem whether I'm 18 whether I'm 70 whether I'm a vegetarian what do you prosecute me because I eat meat whether I come in drunk one day it doesn't matter with the fact that I gave instruction you are not to touch any guns unless I am present how old is dude is is if I were an armored tomorrow and people are not listening I would have to resign because I ain't going to jail and that and that becomes a responsibility of the producer if people are not respecting on the movie Set an officer of the law or an advocate of the law when it comes to guns the actors broke the law so are we going to start putting cops in jail if they give somebody a warning or something else I don't get it was Hannah supposed to be there to jump in front of a bullet what what do you what are you doing here
Bye Felicia
And she should NEVER do that job again !!!
I knew it and I said she was the one responsible, not Alec. Now everyone needs to leave Alec alone! Not his fault it's the armorer's fault! Her job was to make sure there's no live ammo on the set, she failed her job and now she'll pay the price in prison! Now, LEAVE ALEC ALONE! Not his fault! I don't want to hear stupid excuses that 'oh he had the gun he pulled the trigger his fault.' No it's not his fault! He's an actor he's not an expert in the armory, that's HER department!
Alec cocked the firearm, pulled the trigger, and pointed the firearm at Halyana..duh
LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!! 😭
I agree. I see the buck stopping at the person in charge of the firearms.
@@elizabethlacky6068 he pointed it at the _camera_ to practice for the scene. The Armorer and Assistant Director declared it a "cold gun" when Baldwin took it.
@@WifeBTR123 from what I've learned since the shooting happened, it's actually SAG policy that actors may not check the weapons themselves and must trust the Armorer. So yeah, her fault.
Tho, I still could see Baldwin facing civil liability for hiring the under qualified person in the first place.
Verdict? I didn't even know the trial was going on.
I just still understand why the F they had a real bullet on a movie set.
Now charge alec Baldwin he pulled the trigger
💐🥹💬she feels at fault! And she’s sorry.
For example, if she used a mirror, and Alec would direct the gun toward the mirror, not to the camera, and the camera would be directed to the image of the gun in the mirror, not to the gun directly, all crew members would be happy now, drinking champagne. Her lack of knowledge about useful techniques, giving full protection to the crew, made situation danger, especially to her. I would say that she risked her life, crew members life, and she forget about safety on the first place, because she decided what the crew should do technically. She created danger situation, and was victim of it.
Weren’t they doing target shooting the weekend before with real bullets?
Halls gets off lightly and Baldwin will probably get probation and made to pay massive compensation.
Not looking good for Mr Baldwin.
Good she is a mess. Did not handle her responsibility on the set.
Blaming hispanic😢
Thats a bit ridiculous. I feel like she is taking the fall because of baldwins fame and money. He pulled the trigger, he killed the poor woman.
You clearly don’t know shi* ! The bullets in the gun ? Alec didn’t do that she did ! She was incompetent! Do your research genius 🤦🏼♀️😂
What about Alec Baldwin?
Two tier justice system
@@BubblegumCrash332
How is it a two tier justice system? Alec Baldwin has been indicted in this case. Get a clue.
@@BubblegumCrash332the only thing two tier is the rich and not rich
@@Helmuesi911He wants anyone that hurt trumps feelings to be tried and convicted. If you keep saying they cheated with every scenario it’s like the little boy that cried wolf people are going to stop believing them. Just poor sportsmanship and a lack of honour and integrity. His opinion is forfeit anyway since he is politically biased what he says does not hold any weight he is just being a crybaby. I don’t have those biases.
@@amyahlquist3436You absolutely have bias clouding your judgment if you think that Alec has been been treated differently this whole time.
