I have the AWD version (38 mpg city & hwy). I get around 35-36 mpg combined in the summer and closer to 31 mpg combined in the winter.

I have Kia Sportage Hybrid ex AWD trim. Yesterday I had 200 miles full of freeway driving. First 100 miles I got 35.6 and return I got 38.5

I have the 23 hybrid. The trick is to get up to the desired speed and gently take your foot off the gas till the rpm goes to 0 then gently press the gas to keep it at zero. It's a pain to do cuz of traffic, hills, etc. On freeway I was able to get almost 52 mpg but it's rare. I still haven't been able to get it to 500 miles on a full tank cuz driving conditions very

epa test was done at 49 mph to get the combined 38mpg. now sure who drives 49 on the free way lol. after 4000 miles i’m averaging 35-37 mpg with a pretty heavy foot lots of city and highway, found that smart mode improves fuel economy a a bit

so seems like this is 3-5mpg less than other hybrid SUV, but this is also the cheapest SUV.

All companies over estimate the gas mileage.

I have the LX and run it in smart mode. average 35 to 41 mpg

I thought Hybrid worked less at higher speeds? If you are 45mph and below it works better?

Technically yes, hybrid systems are more effective in stop and go driving. But I only do my fuel economy tests on the highway because it is much easier to control variables that way, and I compare hybrids to their EPA highway MPG.

@CarDietrich I liked the video.....I was asking...because I am far from expert....hell I didn't know it worked going faster than 45.
