i love how we have a generic boss battle theme but it only plays twice and in like the same exact streamer
I get the feeling they wanted to do more mini-bosses, but they didn't have the time to implement them into the other streamers. I was half expecting a Big Scuttlebug mini-boss in the Yellow Streamer area, especially because of the big web.
Thankfully though, the ones that do use this theme are really fun (Handaconda especially), so they make the most of it.

I like how, based on the situation, this theme takes on a completely different meaning.
During the Sumo Bros. fight, you hear the drums at the start, and it sounds like you're fighting a couple of bikers.
During the Handaconda fight, you hear the electric guitar, and it sounds terrifying.
It's the exact same theme, with the exact same instruments, but because of the situation it sounds completely different, and I like that.
It’s like Space Storm and Battle Belt from Super Mario Galaxy 2. They use the same music but have different feelings in terms of the music
It's because of all these little details such as this one that I think this game has one of the best soundtracks of all time

I learned it after I beat them. In my second playthrough I got the Fire Vellumental circle, used it, and missed because the big Bro was still on the cloud.
It’s a shame that this only plays for 2 bosses that are about an hour apart from each other
Aye. Would've been nice to have minibosses outside of Paper Macho fights in other chapters. Ah well.

You are correct. Chapter 3 has Macho Gooper Blooper and Pokey. Chapter 5 has the Sumo Bro and Handaconda as minibosses and Macho Buzzy Beetle

@@couldbeaname6340 yes first you use the hammer until Olivia is freed, then you use the rock paper scissors panels. Scissors shows which symbol it will do, but when it's hand grows it'll do the OPPOSITE of what it shows.

I absolutely love how at 1:14 you can hear a bit of the Event Battle Theme. This soundtrack continues to impress me!
Aside from the Vellumentals, the Sumo Bros. were the only Origami bosses.
That's a pretty big feat.
Before demolishing them with the Fire Vellumental I wondered if they were going to be considered the 'pseudo-lightning vellumental' but they ended up being a mini-boss at best

@@CarMedicine the Handaconda isn't origami, it and all the cut-out soldiers were all made by Scissors by cutting paper. Anything Origami was folded and fastened together by Stapler.

I find it funny how this music comes from this game. To me, this literally sounds like all of Wario Land boss music stuffed into a single theme. It has the quirky chiptune of the GB games (and VBWL), the funky synth of Wario Land 4 and Wario Land: Shake It!, and the driving metal of Wario: Master of Disguise. This is the ultimate Wario boss music to my ears.

Sticker Star and Color Splash had a thing for jazz, and The Origami King has a thing for hard rock.
Personally, I'm not complaining about either.

Sticker Star was basically on a perpetual jazz high, Color Splash pulled it back and went quirky alongside the jazz, and Origami King spread out to every genre imaginable: jazz, metal, disco, movie score, anime, pop, traditional from many cultures, and more.

This could've been used more, rather than just Chapter 5. It's too good to be this underused. More terrifying minibosses, like a giant scuttlebug-spider in the web room in the Shroom Temple.
I love how it says “boss fight” but it only plays in two “boss fights”, yet there are so many other boss fights within the game
It’s the one song that’s too good to play for as little time as it does for a single boss, so they gave it to two.

Everytime I replay this game again, I always ask myself about why Nintendo made this INCREDIBLE generic boss theme, gave it to two bosses in the entire game, and then put those two bosses 15 minutes away from each other in the storyline.
Interesting that a “generic” boss battle theme is only used exactly two times in this game.
And the second instance occurs shortly after the first one.

This song, for a MINI BOSS, not even a full boss, sounds like a final boss theme, you can hear parts of the main game's leitmotif, it, for lack of a better word, sounds epic as hell, and it feels like it's now or never

This game isn’t perfect, but I feel like it’s brightening up the future of paper Mario if they keep going on this track of original and fun bosses, and, at least in my opinion (and people are gonna be mad), pretty good characters and a decent story.

We need a Mario game and/or a Paper Mario game where all of the enemies and bosses return from previous games as your allies throughout the game, like in Kirby Star Allies. I want to wield the power of all my former enemies as my friends and allies, it doesn't happen enough!

Listening to the ost makes me want to play this game again... I always thought the music was great but the BOSS THEMES... too bad I've already played the game 3 times, one playthrough was last year
Such intensity yet it's only a miniboss theme, which is probably why it also sounds somewhat silly and it reminds me of something from SPM with how quirky it sounds at some points. Still, it's a really good theme and my only issue is that I wish it played more, especially since 1:04-1:22 is too good to only hear twice...

A lot of people like it actually (even many fans of the classic games). Generally, TOK is considered a good game, even if it continues to have some of the same pitfalls Sticker Star and Color Splash have.

There were originally more sumo bros, but one of them got within 5 feet of a match and had a seizure.

So why is sumo bro so weak to fire instead of ground?
Well, the main Sumo Bro isn’t weak to ground because it’s (in a way) flying. As for fire, I’d argue because it’s paper, but that doesn’t hold true for all enemies. I also can’t remember if the fire flower affected the Sumo Bros back in Super Mario World.
In the M&L games thunder is weak to fire and vise versa

We should've thrown Pokemon logic out the window the minute we use the Earth Vellumental to defeat the Water Vellumental. But we didn't, and we (sort of) paid for it.

Sounds a little like an enhanced event battle, which kind of also makes sense in a way, since event battles are kind of mini miniboss battles

The most epic msuic for rock paper scissors
I remember playing through the Handaconda fight, landing on the Rock Paper Scissors panel, and randomly guessing because I hadn't even noticed that he shows you what he's gonna choose. I got it right by pure luck, decided it was either random or it was programmed to let you win, and proceeded to land on the panel again the following turn, after STILL not paying attention, getting it right again by pure chance. Thanks to those lucky wins, I beat it really easily, and I felt genuinely bad for Handaconda after I later found out about his telegraph.

Specifically Origami King. The ‘medley’ theme assigned as the PM stage’s primary theme is better than its predecessors.
I think the fact that the blooper on peaches ship isn't a boss like this, is a missed opportunity.

If I heard this in any other context other than it playing for the first time in-game, I genuinely would have never guessed that this is the boss theme in a Mario game. TOK's OST as a whole doesn't sound like Mario music. And I am not complaining about that at all, I would rather this soundtrack not feel bound by the expectations of a Mario soundtrack than try to "Mario" it up, given how non-standard it is not just as a Paper Mario game, but as a Mario game in general.
Now for Nintendo's favourite boss enemy:

Random trick I literally just learned yesterday. In the event that you take just enough time that Handaconda successfully baits you and changes his move just before you can react, you can intentionally mistime the actually QTE to get the upper hand again.😅

Did anyone else break Scissors free immediately just to have an extra challenge? It surprised me that his moves were 1HKOs when I did that but I beat it on the first try with some luck and quick reflexes
