I never noticed this my first time playing but I've been watching a Let's Play of it and the stapler is foreshadowed at the very beginning :P In Peach's Castle you see its shadow stapling some of the kidnapped toads and stuff
I love how dramatic parts of this theme sound. The composers strike a great balance between "you're fighting a dog" and "you're fighting the penultimate boss who was unleashed as one last resort to kill you by the big bad before facing him yourself"
Not so fun fact: I accidentally Stapled my right ring finger when I was 12. When we got to the urgent Care, we found out that the staple was brushing right up against the bone. I was somehow very lucky. And that was a REGULAR silver staple. I don't even want to think what Red or Golden one could've done to me.😬
Ribbon listen closely to 0:42 to 0:47 it sounds like a dog barking. Obviously it doesn’t sound exactly like a dog but it seems like thats what it’s trying to convey.

Let's just say, in the rematch, if it uses its ultimate attack on you with Gold Staplers good luck staying alive. You'll be cutting it close. Yes I know cutting is Scissors's thing but I can't think of an appropriate term to use in the Stapler's case.

This comes right after Disco Devil and Shifty Sticker as my third favorite boss theme..What I love about it the most is that it capures Staplers personality perfectly. He's an uncontrollable and wild animal, and yet an incredible big threat, best demonstarted through the main part of the song at 0:58..Oh man that part's so good.
*First thought:* "C'mon, I literally fought something that could (and did) kill me in a single hit! How's this gonna be threatening in comparison?" *Second thought:* "OW OW OW OW OW OW OW OW OW OW OW OW!" Though it's kinda hilarious how it biting you with no staplers loaded literally does one damage per bite. You'd think something clamping down on you, staples or no staples, would hurt more than a Goomba Headbonk.
Look, man, have YOU ever tried using a stapler with no staples? It's hard! He's trying his best... (this is a joke obviously, would like to clarify that)

This was probably my favourite boss fight in the game. And favourite boss theme. If you fail your block ONCE, then you're in for undodgeable pain. And if you screw up your block even once when it does Bite Barrage... Say goodbye to half your health, if not more! Felt like it really picked up the slack after how anticlimactic Scissors was to fight.
This boss was actually pretty hard for me. You will not believe how awesome I felt when I perfect guarded an ultimate attack with the gold staples just as 0:59 kicked in.
yeah same here, still the hardest boss in the game in my opinion without any challenges, but scissors when you break the seal is the hardest of them all, tho it's really easy when you do the boss the proper way.
Makes sense since like Roy this is the penultimate fight of the game. Despite not having as much intelligence as the other Legions of Stationary and mostly being a feral animal the Stapler can be debated as the secondary antagonist of the game as due to his actions of stapling people under Olly's command resulting in the creation of his troops the Folded Soldiers and it is implied that with Stapler's defeat that the surviving Folded Soldiers lost their folded appearance like Bowser and returned to normal. When you think about it the main villain of this game is like Dimentio in abilities and goals mixed with Bleck's tragic undertones. The only real difference is the Origami King as the main villain is established early on where as with Super while there are hints Dimentio is the main antagonist they don't outright say he is until the very end.
I had 205 max hp for this boss, its ultra move with the gold thingy delt over 167 damage even tho I perfectly protected myself (with the silver protect boost accessory)

The part where Mario legit snapped the stapler's jaw in half felt like someone grabbed a sharp stake and stabbed my heart like a vampire. The fact the Stapler is basically a doggo makes it ten times worse
There have been many awesome & memorable soundtracks over time, but what makes this special (in addition to it's originality, excellent and organic mix of physical and synthetic instrumental, ...) is how it masterfully conveys the feelings of the presented situation (with a level of rigor and detail such that you can even deduce context without having played it). In this one we can appreciate details such as the intermittent variation in volume after the intro transition, that represents the wild creature trying to bite; or the pre-dramatic transition, where the criature seems to bite heavily & violently (all of this figured out just from music). ✨️

that's gonna be so brutal and one of the most and worst team of boss ever. mario's gonna die in that. but yeah, that will be lit. dodging both of their mouths at the same time fighting for your life and saving the world from being turned into an origami.
Hearing all these again, all the boss themes in this game are so raw compared to other games - especially this one, since you're fighting a dog in this one. They really make Origami King stand out.
By far the hardest boss in the game, I managed to beat him first try only cus I had a 1 up mushroom. Also I had no idea u could use the hands move on him first fight, cus it's gotta be at a very specific time. Though honestly I only really had trouble with elastic band grabbing him on the on final phase ugh, and tape cus of his second phase oh and the water Vellumental and the ice one but only when Olly transformed into him in the final fight.

I was at half health, saw the gold, and decided to heal. I survived by 6 HP.

Hearing all these again, all the boss themes in this game are so raw compared to other games - especially this one, since you're fighting a dog in this one. They really make Origami King stand out.

By far the hardest boss in the game, I managed to beat him first try only cus I had a 1 up mushroom. Also I had no idea u could use the hands move on him first fight, cus it's gotta be at a very specific time. Though honestly I only really had trouble with elastic band grabbing him on the on final phase ugh, and tape cus of his second phase oh and the water Vellumental and the ice one but only when Olly transformed into him in the final fight.
