Hey when you do videos like these you should include a tiny bit of riding at the end or "testing" during the video even if it's just rolling down the street and jumping over curbs or something idk i just think it'll add a bit of relief to see how it rides. Same with the videos of upgrading the bikes! Thanks!
i remember catching hell from a girlfriend for rebuilding a vdub engine for a sand rail on the kitchen table. it was the middle of winter, a foot of snow on the ground and i had no garage. you gotta do what you gotta do.
Hey Matt, your definitely one of the most charismatic and pleasant mountainbikers to watch on UA-cam! Great work! Is there a reason why you're running your stem / cockpit that high with all these spacers below? Cheers Mate!
Do you have your cranks that stiff for park riding as well? I’ve tried it in the past and it just makes everything pedal pressure based such as fakies and tyre taps so much harder!
Great video.Surely having an oval ring on there will make it harder to pedal unless you had a derelluier? , take the rubber ring off you don't need it and save a few grams ;)
ordering the 2019 in buzzing cant wait for it to come in the next couple of weeks when I have the money ready your a massive inspiration want to be just as good as you one day
First i need to say: Great Work! A driver that know how his own Bike is Working is very Important. Than the Other one: Never use Copper Paste on Aluminium! is is causing Corrosion. Instead of this i use Ceramic Paste. Then at last: what Type of Colorful Bolts are u using, that you like to replace?
Dang knee issues are real I'm on my 3rd month of recovery from a partial knee replacement looking into a hardtail so I can get it moving again. And back on my trail and Dh bikes
chris Brandt I had a fuckered knee aswell so I know the pain but I think a hardtail or offroading is a bad idea I stayed of downhill for siz months but I rode my road bike a lot cause it strenghtens it!!
"plumber tool" aka A Pipe Cutter, can be used for cutting down the handlebars, steer tube, and seat post. use a medium grit sandpaper (not the driveway asphalt) around the cut you make to knock down any burs or rough spots and things will turn out perfect. Good luck getting that kind of finished cut using a hacksaw and asphalt *cough cough* sam pilgram *cough*
You should try a gel called ``Dolobene`` on your knee. I had my knee the same size as you and it really helped to get the swelling off. But that`s just my advice and expirience so you do you.
That,s a nice build. I ride bmx on the skatepark. but now i.m looking for a dirtjumper cuz then i can do both. Do you recomend to build it yourself or just buy complete. I do not have alot of money i.m working as hard as i can for a new bike. Thanks
its a definite MATT thing ! i have one and the layout on the kitchen floor is a definite tell tale sign . we also have a TREK bike room but the hygienic kitchen has always taken 1st choice . Matt what do you think about chicksands ? 1-10 ?
I need to cut my steer tube down on my bmx forks, was wondering if I could use that plumbers tool u used on ur bars to do my forks, I don’t wanna do it with a saw and fuck it up and make it all rough. Thinking a pipe cutter or that thing u used on ur bars. Any thoughts?
Love that frame I ... didnt know Marin do jump bikes. why do BMX/jump bikes always come with horizontal dropouts though its a pain in the ass to get chain tension correct
I want those forks. Are those forks made for 27.5 inch wheels ? There's a huge gab when he mounted the 26" wheel on it. Also, that's a sick scale he used. Anybody know who makes those....Thanks.
Dont want to use sealant in the kitchen after you just cut the steer tube, set post, and bars. I'd rather step in sealant than get a metal splinter in my foot
“We’ve got the tools I’m going to use to build it”
Sam Pilgrim: “Sorry I don’t speak Italian”
Yet pilgrim has the pipe cutter

Sooooo much time for this! This pleases my OCD massively. Love the level of detail and interest into the bikes you ride! Respect!
Use the plumber tool to cut the top of the forks that’s what Sam pilgrim does
Josh Lansbury I think he would know that
Murray Davey well he didn’t did he
Maybe he doesn't have the right size one for the forks, the one he used on the bars is too small for steerer tube
Adamn Allamner exactly what I was gonna say the one he has is too small he needs to get a bigger one for the steerer and the seatpost!!
he forgot to sand it...
That’s awesome. I actually really enjoy the color scheme. Normal blue/orange schemes look generic. This is fire.
so stoked to race Crankworx!! this year see you there Matt.
Thank you so much for this video, been looking for a good DJ build vid to help me build my own. Learning a lot about bike parts. Keep up the vids!
4:08 Anyone thinking of Sam Pilgrim? 😄
General nah Sam’s hammer is much bigger lmao
No... Yes haha
At least Matt is using a hammer instead of a oversized sledge head :P
General yup
Yup
Can you do a pov run at crankworks?
We used to use our missus' hairspray on grips. Rock solid when it dries. Nice video and lush bike. Have fun in Whistler.
Nice one, love to see a bike build... And NO Matt YOU are an absolute legend!
Dude! I weirdly did this to put a new frame on my bike just for fun and a photo. Your OCD impresses me. Cheers for the great posts. Peace.
metal shavings on the kitchen floor...in socks...made me wince a little but you do you Matty.
I was pretty surprised, because during the video you said something about 1hr 3 min. And in the end it took 1 hr and 4 min. Pretty damn accurate
Hey Matt, your definitely one of the most charismatic and pleasant mountainbikers to watch on UA-cam! Great work! Is there a reason why you're running your stem / cockpit that high with all these spacers below?

I like the look of the bike dude!
Super rad bro! good luck for crankworx
This is the most brutal bike build I've ever witnessed!
this is the first time i saw someone cut their seatpost. it feels so weird
The Alcatraz is my dream frame! Such a sick build
sick new DJ!!!!!!
Great vid! Keep it up, I love this stuff you do.
What a Gorgeous bike!
4:22 the Netflix sound
Nice build Matt. I'm building up a Nukeproof now. Getting some inspiration. Cheers from USA
That plumbers tool Is also good for cutting down forks
big beechy Not that particular tool, but a regular pipe cutter will fit.
Really Nice kitchen too.
“i’m super lucky to have all these sponsors” more like rly good
Do you have your cranks that stiff for park riding as well? I’ve tried it in the past and it just makes everything pedal pressure based such as fakies and tyre taps so much harder!
New bike day for Matt is like new undie day for me...or at least it comes around nearly as frequently lol.
Absolutely awesome 😎
Great video.Surely having an oval ring on there will make it harder to pedal unless you had a derelluier? , take the rubber ring off you don't need it and save a few grams ;)
Super nice bike you deserve a sub
best thumbnail i have ever seen in my entire life GG Mr Jones GG brethren

I like how he builds his bike and I’m just over here with my complete
Nice trip!
Check out cti knee braces for your knee Matt. Shit hot always comfy too. Get a pipe cutter for the fork steerer!
Looks like you have been having bike building lessons from Sam Pilgrim ;)
Where do you get all your bolts from

Riding With The Reid's That's a different type of pipe cutter. It won't fit on steered tubes. Just sayin
Love the Alcatraz!
Lucky I’ve got one myself from my dad from Paligap. Rides amazingly, good bike to have fun on. Keep up the good work!
kitchen = garage❤️
Always seat post on first, then clamp seat tube instead on clamping top tube.
This video is the best!
Matt, it actually took you 2 hours due to 1 hour with your Setting up work of art. Thanks for the video
Loving the vids only just found you on UA-cam, proper want to get into jump bikes now
I love this sorta thing
what is the use of an oval chainring on a dj especially if you are wanting more friction in the cranks with a tube inserted.
You should try a gel called ``Dolobene`` on your knee. I had my knee the same size as you and it really helped to get the swelling off. But that`s just my advice and expirience so you do you.
What happens if you cross threaded your bb? Do you need to replace the whole bike frame or do something to the bb to fix it?
Sick bike !
The bike is cool, But the grips Are Looking terribel took Black one in it.🤘🏻🚲
Love these videos!
That,s a nice build. I ride bmx on the skatepark. but now i.m looking for a dirtjumper cuz then i can do both. Do you recomend to build it yourself or just buy complete. I do not have alot of money i.m working as hard as i can for a new bike. Thanks
Corne Vis buy complete then upgrade, although most dirt jumpers are sold as frames
Honestly I would hate knowing that little things have been rushed on my brand new bike.
Sam Matchett Yeah... right?
Sick video keep it up
You would have made if you didn’t explain all of the parts. Great video as always. Keep it up!
Matt you need a park tool saw guide for the fork.
Park Tool aren't the only company to manufacture those
Hey man what chain do run to be able to run your rear wheel slammed hard up and not have any slack with out a chain tensioner?
its a definite MATT thing ! i have one and the layout on the kitchen floor is a definite tell tale sign . we also have a TREK bike room but the hygienic kitchen has always taken 1st choice . Matt what do you think about chicksands ? 1-10 ?
Nice build i d love to know how much it would cost in parts?🤔
Matt are you running the maxxis dth kevlar tires with tubeless? Or they are with wire
What is it that youre putting on your parts, is it like blue??
Very nice bike and components. BTW, which ratchet wrench are u using?? thks
Matt long shot but have you got a djd sprocket I could buy I'm really wanting to get out on the bike but nowhere has any in stock until end of April
What would u recommend for a beginner to get for a dirt jumper
GT labomba or Marin Alcatraz
Sick frame
I need to cut my steer tube down on my bmx forks, was wondering if I could use that plumbers tool u used on ur bars to do my forks, I don’t wanna do it with a saw and fuck it up and make it all rough. Thinking a pipe cutter or that thing u used on ur bars. Any thoughts?
How many spacers did you use underneath your stem?
Sic vid 👍, thanks Rebecca
use iso for the grips works amazingly :)
odi all day
Love that frame I ... didnt know Marin do jump bikes. why do BMX/jump bikes always come with horizontal dropouts though its a pain in the ass to get chain tension correct
Can you try a front flip of of the drop starting the big jumps
Need video about oval chainring setup performance review. Please soon
Search up absoluteblack on the internet
Any reason you run your rear on the right? Or just how you've always done it :P
I want those forks. Are those forks made for 27.5 inch wheels ? There's a huge gab when he mounted the 26" wheel on it. Also, that's a sick scale he used. Anybody know who makes those....Thanks.
Spin doctor makes those stands
What front and rear wheel do you use on this bike??
I like this style building the buke
What would you say would be a good jump bike to start on, I wanna buy one but not sure what is the best to go for.
If you live in the UK, calibre Astronaut, mafia blackjack d
Any idea when the Marin Alcatraz frame will be back in stock to buy? :)
Any recommendations for a beginner budget jump bike?
cut the seat post and the fork with the pipe cuter because it is a lot quicker
Where did you get the ti bolts from ? Please help me 😣
Nico.Dirtbike a website called Ti Springs
I DO want to watch the whole build lol
What stand are you using?
Dont want to use sealant in the kitchen after you just cut the steer tube, set post, and bars. I'd rather step in sealant than get a metal splinter in my foot
Love it, I’m jealous
What will you do with your old bike
How do you put your brake wires?
