4 years late, thanks for explaining kinda scientific things when you were building the bike. It's so interesting and brings additional value to your build videos in comparison to others
Quick tip Since you have an air compressor now. But the blow gun attachment on and you can use it to blast air under the grip and they slide right on. You can use the same method to remove grips as well.
Hey Matt just wanted to tell you that ive got infected with some serious bacteria and been on bed for a while, your videos and your positive energy helped me a lot ! You are the best Sick Alcatraz btw!
Hey Matt, Great Build on the New Bike !! Was gonna tell ya, in my shop i put down the interlocking rubber floor tiles, on the concrete, Dude, it is so nice now !! I think you would love them , ya ought to check into them , they don't cost very much per pack, well that's how mine came when i bought them , think it was like 10 per pk. ? i forget...lolol ...But, I know you will be spending a lot more time in there now that you have the new place so, just a nice idea i thought i'd throw atcha !! Have a Good one !!!
Marin has such beautiful bikes. I've got an oval chainring on my Marin hardtail, funny how the oval feels "rounder" than the round ring now. It just feels more natural almost.
I’m going to have to get a San Quentin or Alcatraz to build up. I’m gimped up after a knee surgery and I think since I can’t ride I might as well build. Thanks for the inspiration Matt. Legendary build as always
You should keep the handlebar or steerer tube cut offs of an important bike and send it to a ring maker to make it an engagement ring. If you haven’t already gotten engaged.
Info for future weenie builds. Bmx race brand carbon pivotal posts. Saves a decent bit of weight. Also pre cut to 150mm long and comes in common mtb sizes for dj bikes.
LPx007 I’ve never run them All I know is I spent an hour changing a nearly new (as in done @@@@ all) one because it split like the 2 before it had.. and I don’t think he would buy the cheap tyres for his tracer
@@teamstarlingadventures3904 who's he? I don't know what you're talking about...anyway...great story. Keep buying Maxxis then, I don't really care it's a free world and I'm not sponsored by anyone I just like Contis that's it.😉
Ive had tubeless blowouts that were scary. Two on the front wheel, one on the back. It really depends on your setup, super wide tubeless 2.4s, like booze lights will explide off yiur rim at 60 psi. Even with orange seal, stans, slime. All sealants really do at that point is lubricate the bead seat and help it blowoff like an HKS SSQV4😅
“The most important thing about having tools on the wall is that you put them back on the wall and before you know it they will not be on the wall anymore!” -Matt Jones
Wrap double sided tape round the handlebar ends, dip it in white spirit, slid the grips on, let it dry for 24 hours. You'll never get em off, guaranteed!
Don't think you cut the bar down enough. The 30mm marker means that if you cut that marker at each end, you have cut the total length of the bar by 30mm. You took 15mm off each end, so you have 770mm bars not 740mm :-)

There's something else you desperately need. And that's good lighting in The Unit.
Yep worst lighting
It would help painting the inside a brighter colour
Old video I know but just watching jump bike builds as building one up again and excited, this is the best I've found 😁
I love the in depth bike builds, even though I've spent years working as a bike tech in bike shops.
Quick tip
Since you have an air compressor now. But the blow gun attachment on and you can use it to blast air under the grip and they slide right on. You can use the same method to remove grips as well.
In depth makes it feel like we're there hanging out with you. This honestly felt like doing bike builds with my buddies when we were in high school.
Hey Matt just wanted to tell you that ive got infected with some serious bacteria and been on bed for a while, your videos and your positive energy helped me a lot ! You are the best

Charl Bekker true true but it would be nice not to have all the excess brake cable

So much on point with the weight!
Love the in depth vids Matt. Very informative keep them up.
I saw a guy at the pump track this week riding an Alcatraz. I was very jealous (since I don’t even have a dirt jump bike).
Definitely maybe might probably get done before midnight. Sounds like me building a bike. haha
Love this build. The best yet.
That new bike is so sick how it is so
light i have a san quentin which isn't
a DJ bike but still amazed at how light
it is hope 2020 will be sick.
Dude I don’t even ride bikes but I watched this whole video though and was intrigued the whole time…. nice bike

LPx007 what🤷♂️😂 he’s my mate who’s run conti for years but had nothing but bother since they change the compound.. and I run wild enduro and wtb 😉
Get a really light grinding disc on the bench grinder to smooth down handlebar ends!! 😃😃
Awesome bike! also, having extra time to make your fried eggs poached eggs on a morning, invaluable!! 👍😂

I love your bike!! I wish I could afford something like that
Nice tag watch 😏
Thank you so much for that chain too that helps a lot
You can blast your compressor under your grips to help slide them on or off.

Top tip, you can use your compressor to take grips off and put new ones on. We do it with our mx bikes
This is the frame I was looking at
Keep the in-depth build videos 🤙
Should’ve used the compressor to put the grips on, makes it way easier
you can also slide zip ties under them, and then pull them out. easy !
Murray Morrison that’s what I was thinking since he wanted to save time lol

Broken Rat that sounds awful what if you need to change your grips
"the Germans do know how to make tyres"
Wow! Nice bike
Hey Matt, nice build, small suggestion though, don't run those, or any tubeless tyres, unless they're skinny road ones at 80 PSI, seriously ;-)
