The same amount of time & effort these women put into making their baddie busdowns look real is the same amount of time & effort I put into caring for and styling my natural hair. Also, I live an honest soft girl life with my natural curly hair 💅🏾😌

Great video! Bw get so defensive when it comes to wigs it’s crazy. It would be great if we could all learn to embrace our beauty. Nothing wrong with wigs from time to time but I wish it was like the 70s when you would see groups of bw all wearing big Afros lol

Thank you and I agree! I always wondered how they got the Afros to look so perfect…the men and the women…I may need to watch a tutorial 🤎

4 type hair is good. We need to see it that way. Not no your hair is too nappy and unmanageable. Great video.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I grew up with my mom absolutely hating our course and kinky hair. The earliest I remember getting perms is 7-8 years old. I watched my mom perming her hair, wearing wigs and on many occasions saying how she's obsessed with "creamy crack" and when I shaved my head & went natural my sophomore year in high school, she said I was "so brave" because she could never wear her "nappy" hair out because it looks unkept. Fast forward many years, my mom now has long beautiful locs and she speaks so highly of both of our hair and inspired me to lock my hair up too. She's since apologized for the toxic ideology that was passed down to her and onto me and everyday works to remind her children how beautiful our black features are- including hair (she was big on "black pride" but the topic of hair was always so touchy). I love that she's let go of that deeply toxic mindset, but I know if she raised me with a lot more self-love when it comes to my type 4 hair, I wouldn't be dealing with my own hair insecurities now

I vowed that this whole year I was gonna only wear my natural hair. No box braids or anything. It's really given me the time to practice self love and kind of 'connect' with my hair, if you get what I mean. :)
Edit- I wrote 'do box braids' instead of 'no box braids'

This is a great video! I actually am editing one right now about the reason we feel so underrepresented -- it is partly due to the power we give away -- so thank you for emphasizing this point. Lace fronts have a tendency to become addictive in my opinion.

Though I was never a fan of weaves and wigs, I started to wear wigs for 6 years. I've always worn braids in between. In 2015 I wore weaves for the first time, but only for 6 months. In 2017 I wore a weave for 2 months and in 2019 I wore weaves for 8 months.
I decided to give up wigs and weaves altogether, because they don't represent me. I only wear braids, because they look the most beautiful on me 🥰

I love all hair types.I always keep in mind that some people ha e medical issues or extreme damage that forces them to wear wigs also.
And let us remember that wbote, Latino and other women wear wigs and extensions too.

Thanks for commenting 🤎and I understand some people suffer from medical conditions that’s why state of you must wear wigs and weaves we need to wear wigs and weaves that match our own hair types and I agree all races of women wear weaves and wigs but I want to only focus on the issues surrounding black women not other races of women 🤎🤎🤎

@@CoffeeCuties777 I think embracing our hair is important. I try not to judge people's decisions too much though. Our people have all different types of texture. I'm not mad at what someone chooses as long as they don't put another texture or style down. No texture is better than anotber.
I agree with focusing on us. The only reason I brought up other races is to inform. Far too many times I've heard people say that only black women wear hair that isn't our own.

@@nenajay3174 Yes I agree all textures of hair is beautiful and at the end of the day people are free to present themselves as they please I just want to introduce an alternative option to weaves and wigs and the reasons why and yes it’s unfortunate everyone wants to police black women hair but allow everyone else to express themselves as they please.🤎
