  • My friends; here is my video of how to paint a Drukhari Archon, converted from the Ynnari Visarch. In this video, you're going to learn how to paint a sinister Dark Eldar bad fella. You'll see how to give him a specific mood, as though he's inside his malevolent battleship and create a base that features a freehand space scene, as he watches his fleet sail to war through the glass floor of the bridge.
This video shows you how to paint dark green xenos armour, a smooth husk blade, soul stones, a pale evil face and some pink arcane power glow. The video covers my caveman colour theory as well as some of my tricks on how to conceptualise unique miniatures. As you were.

But for me, what you have created in that base is nothing short of an artistic miracle. You have literally opened a portal to another world. I think these are the best series of painting tutorials out there. The reason being is the effort put into the before (preparation of the mini/splitting of the sub-sections) and the after (prepping cool base ideas), as well as the general commentary throughout the video. The first time around I watch them, then I have them running in the background almost like a podcast while I am painting. Focusing on the words spoken it is surprising how much you take in whilst doing your own work. I'm keen to see the video about your setup and to see what you are going to paint next. Good work!

awesome video and a fantastic paintjob man! Something I learned from my ventures into scale modelling, regarding clear plastic and resin repair and polish. next time, rather than gloss coating the resin (which btw you can still do afterwards) Try wet sanding the resin in gradually increasing the grain count. So, for example, start wet sanding at 800/1000 grit, then go finer to a 4k/6k grit so on and so forth, until you get to 12k and you will end up with a completely clear and smooth resin finish.

I'm nowhere near your level of skill but I feel you with the eyes mate. I tend to just paint the whites and while I try to be neat as I can I've stopped caring too much about going outside the lines. After the whites are done I just go back to tidy up with whatever flesh colour I've used for the rest of the head. I find it much easier to paint the outside of the eye than trying to get the white paint neatly into the socket. But yeah, one of the trickiest things to do in my limited experience. Wish someone would invent a tool to do them right first time!

I have only recently discovered this hobby and I am yet to choose my first kit, SO MANY awesome choices :D I have found several really great mini hobby channels but they are mostly American, and some from the UK and Europe and they are great but often materials and supplies they use are just not available here in Australia, I am looking forward to watching more of your channel even more so as I know everything you use will likely be available for me to buy online 😎 having said that, where do you get your black nitrile? gloves? I can only find ghastly blue ones.

Another awesome video. Most people only dream of being this good. Have tried Vellejo's fluorescent acrylic paints? Might be a substitute for the pink watercolour you used.

Thank you for the Nightlord and this Video. I am painting a Blueish (well all people say night lords) renegade Chaos army and I love the Purple/pink warp energy out of all the PC games. you gave me tons of ideas and suggestions. Thank you! The Prophets of Truth will look so much better now

I am really pleased to have found a Mini Painting channel by a Fellow Aussie :D Great stuff oh and thanks for doing real-time tutorials WITHOUT distracting background music and just offering helpful narration. +1 Subscriber. Just after submitting this comment I hear the dreaded BACKGROUND MUSIC, well your other painting tutorial video I watched didn't have music..... 😥

"Green and pink look great together - and that's why watermelons exist" bruh. I had to pause to tell my wife that joke. 10/10 content!
