How to Paint - White Scars Primaris Lieutenant by Mezgike

- In this video tutorial, you will learn how I painted my White Scars Primaris Lieutenant with glowing power sword. This is the model that features in White Dwarf, May 2019. We will cover white armour, freehand, battle damage, power glow, marble effects and more.
Note: I am aware that White Scars are mostly based off ancient Mongolia. However, in their world-dominating conquest, perhaps it is reasonable to imagine that the Khans may have picked up some foreign influences from other great warriors, such as the Japanese Samurai, and included them in their White Scars armies, 40,000 years later.
Note 2: I will be uploading a video on how to convert this model very soon, so stay poised :-)
If you would like to donate towards my videos, you can do so (with my huge thanks), here:

The thing I'm really appreciating about your videos is how long they are. You don't do a few brush strokes, then skip to the end of the step. You're actually showing the full process, the thinness of the paint, how it looks on the model wet, how you move it around, how many layers you do and what they look like. Seeing that in-between bit when it doesn't look so good is really encouraging to see, that it's normal that an incomplete step looks meh, but gets better when you keep at it and build up more layers.
2000 point army done in only 87 years!
Joke aside.. what an amazing paintjob and tutorial
I mean if you play Imperial Knights it would only take like, a year.
This funny aussie English, together with this Bob Ross Style of talking is really awesome to watch and I can even learn new stuff!
Holy shit. That base alone looks better than my whole life.
1:40:45 “Here I’ll paint eyelashes on the mini...” rock on
It was really awesome seeing this in white dwarf! Great work!
oh man I knew I recognised the photo in white dwarf, sweet
Which White Dwarf was it in? And is there anything on how he built it?
It was this month's edition (May). I will have the video on how I built it up here soon.
coming to this video again years later. love your work!
Thank you :) sorry for the slow releases, been busy making miniatures
This guy: Spends 40 minutes painting the head in exquisite detail.
Me: Elf flesh and Devlan Mud wash. Nailed it. XD XD XD
I hope you are planning to do alot more of these tutorials. I subscribed. Fantastic demonstration!
I keep coming back to your videos two years later. Still the best looking Space Marines out there imo.
Thanks my friend. I have something new and special coming on 1st of March. That’s 5 days away!
Seriously, the best mini videos on UA-cam. Your models are always amazing to look at and it's such a treat to see them come together. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks that’s really kind :)
Gorgeous. This is easily my favourite painting channel on UA-cam.
I'd love to see what you do with a Plague Marine, given that I've been an avid Death Guard player since 2nd ed!
Thank you! There will be death guard.
Mezgike Cannot wait.
I'd love to see a Death Guard video of some kind.
TheocratOfPoontang there is a plague marine one on my channel
I spend 2 to 3 hours every day for the last year watching painting tutorials and model Videos on UA-cam I am extremely picky and you have to have one of the best channel I have seen yet
Thanks so much :) that’s a really nice complement. High five!
Dang... You sir show some serious skill... Makes me wanna buy a whole load of materials again and start building Minis just for the sake of it.
Your videos are the best painting tutorials I’ve ever seen. So full of detail and information and explained in such a nice and clear way. Can’t wait to see more from you. I’d love to see you paint an ultramarine.
Thank you! I have some ner videos lined up, Calgar is about 4th in the list :-)
Finally finished watching. Thanks for the fully detailed video. Only then can we appreciate the techniques. Even my wife watched it ... impressive!
So glad you liked it! The misses, too :)
Your videos are very high quality! Keep it up and the amazing conversions and you will become popular.
Man do I marvel at your skill - you do AMAZING work. But I actually laughed out loud when you said "Now we're going to paint his eyelashes."
I no longer wonder what is the absolute highest level of modeling. I have seen this video and I now know, this is it.
Thanks so much! There are many others, more talented than me.
What an absolute MASTERPIECE !!!!
Your work is exceptionnal, with your videos it's easy to understand how to lighten, how to use a glaze. This video and the previous on the Night lord encourage me to dilute more my paint and do thin coats... Thanks to enhance my paint skill !!!
So glad my videos help you :)
awesome build and paint finsh
The Bob Ross of mini painting
What a relaxing video to watch! Reminds me of those guided meditation audio tracks
These tutorials of yours are some of the best out there. Very, very clear, advanced enough but easy to follow and your voice is relaxing. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much :) glad you like them!
Watching you paint takes me back to when I used to paint. Your technique is like mine, take your time, layering, blending, and glazing (not many seem to do this nowadays). I started painting back in the mid '80's. I used to own the original Citadel Miniatures paint sets too (Colour, Creature, Monster, & Expert), always had a kitchen towel and a wall tile as part of my set up. Good times! :D
Excellent tutorial. Love your presentation style, it’s really engaging, relaxing and gets you in the mood to take on the learning. I’ve subbed. Let’s have more please!
Thank you :) more soon
the way you talk is so chilled out and quite comical, great tutorial. learnt a few tricks, thanks a lot!
Watching this while painting my first set of minis! Great advice, Thank you!!! :D
Yo the freehand work is ridiculous
You make some of the very best detailed painting tutorials here on UA-cam! I love them. Just found them recently, but I will definitely be on the lookout for more of your stuff!
I also have to add, that you are super relaxing to listen to...
Thanks so much for your support :) I’m glad you enjoy them and hopefully learn some things. There will be more soon.
never could i actually paint these little figures, but i just love listening and watching these vids, its so god damn relaxing :D
These are hands down the most amazing mini-tutorials i have seen on youtube which is utterly saturated w these vids..... please make MORE!!!
That’s really kind of you, thanks :)
that brush control is off the charts
I don't even like white scars but I still watched the whole video.. Damn that's good painting 🤘
Your videos are so soothing, please come back soon!
I'm on my way back!
best tutorial for white i have seen so far. im glad you took your time with this.
I have learned more from your videos than i have from all the Warhammer TV painting tutorials, awesome job, you have gained a new Sub !
Just painted my Star Wars: Shatterppoint - stormtroppers following along your super awesome technique - Evening from here on the south coast UK - o7 - looking forward for when you next release a video

Can't wait to see you do a Khorn or a thousen sounds :D
Maaaaate, Gave that model a mad Shannon Noll treatment. Smashed it mang. Great work!
Incredible works, you're amazing! The models are awesome but i really love the accurance of bases!
Hype for next video! Would you make a tutorial for Alpha Legion please? :)
i like this channel a lot but it's always The Up Next in the feed no matter what other miniature channel im watching lmao
The noise it makes every time you show what colour paint you're gonna use next sounds strikingly similar to the noise it makes when you add a skill point to a skill tree in skyrim. Lol.
Great job. Looks awesome :)
so cool man
Just subscribed. Amazing tutorial video. I went nuts when I saw the thumbnail suddenly, as I'd instantly recognized it from the May 2019 issue. Shall be checking out more of your videos! :)
Also glad to see another fan of Vallejo Matte Varnish. The stuff is fantastic.
Amazing art work 😮
I've been so eager for this
We need more!!!)
Really like like your entire video style, what you say, how you explain it etc. Can't wait for more. Per chance what brushes do you use?
Windsor and Newton series 7. Size 1, 00 and 000.
@@Mezgike Thanks
I love this primus lieutenant
Space Wolves, Howling Griffons and Whitescars are my fav chapters, well Salamanders are somehow weird but intreguing too
Might have some space wolves and more white scars coming up
The detail in this really is outstanding 😇Rarely have I seen eyes done realistically but you have very much managed this.
Amazing blend on the white. Looks lush. You completely deserve so many more subs.
Great video's thanks for all the great content
Great vid would love to see you do a Black Dragon or Carchordon Astra at some point.
Both of those would be cool. I also like legion of the damned
I paint my white scars brown and red and I find that color scheme to be really visually pleasing and unique I have yet to come across another space marine player with that color scheme
Just wow... if one day you do a Black Templar i will be in love ! :p
High end content mate.
I really enjoyed the basing tutorial most, excellent base!
These videos are all so professional. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Another solid video and tutorial. It may take awhile for new videos but are well worth it.
I think you would have a lot of fun converting and painting a Relictors Space Marine.
Looking forward for the next one!
Thanks ! So many great techniques.
Went and grabbed WD because your mini was in it. Fucking love it.
Amazing precise job! Really love your result.
Your doing a diamond job there fella, keep the videos coming, i am inspired, might even film another vid for my channel. not done one for about a year now,
Probably my favourite tutorials I’ve seen man, really love the content man, you, the content, the advice, the end results, all brilliant, really big well done on the work! hope there’s more in the future!
Wow it’s very beautiful and very difficult
these types of videos are amazing, please keep more coming!
I used your leather technique on a couple minis for D&D and it turned out awesome! Only thing i changed was i used just a touch of Riekland Fleshade to tone down the Kislev Flesh highlights. This is a great video.
That was incredible. I don't know what to say other then that.
Wow, what a beautiful paintjob m8 !! I love your vids. Keep up your amazing work, greetz from Germany
Really nice work :) I hope we see more how to painted (Astra Militarum Cadians)
Didn't think it was a jet pack but a power generater for the power armour. Everything else looks amazing. Is your brother you talked about painting space marines ? On you tube ?
Yeah it’s a power pack but me and my brothers always just called it a back pack since we were little kids. I’m sure he’s not carrying a sandwich and an apple in there ;)
I'll let you in on one of my secrets: Vallejo Decal Fix, is more matte that Vallejo Matte Varnish. Give it a try through the airbrush, with a 50/50 thinner mix. Its fantastic.
Incredible painting!! Masterpiece bro
Awesome tutorial !!! Thank you very much for this amazing videos
Mesmerizing work!
holy shit. well done mate
great job, next level painting !
Awesome work mate very informative and interesting to watch thank you for making the vid
It looks amazing
Amazing.
This is stunning!
It feels like I'm listening to Bob Ross XD. Very cool and neat job though! Awesome!
I am the bob ross of miniatures
I would love it if you would do a Blood Angels tutorial. Any Successor Chapter would be acceptable.
We’ll see. I get lots of requests and these videos take me about a whole month to make. I’d like to paint a blood angel though. Also salamanders and ultramarine. Also space wolves... lots haha
@@Mezgike I'll wait. If you would do Blood Angels around Christmas, I would love it.
You sir have just gained a subscriber. Incredible work there.
I prey you will be covering Stormcast and Nighthaunts in the future ;)
Great video! Did you have to cut the shin guard away from the legs? If so, which tool is best?
Sky Studios thanks, the shin guards are separate pieces on the new primaris marines
Top notch. enjoyed the video very much
Very cool! 👍🏻
Really a great work and tutorial, you are really make me improving! Thanks
