Wow, as a 59 year old woman who has the exact same question as David, listening to this was very inspiring.

I especially love to hear calls from Baby Boomers like myself who are reformulating their lives. I hope David is thriving by now. Best wishes.

I agree with Ken. It is sad that the most he's made in his life is $27k a year. That means he's living in poverty for virtually all of his life.

My job is killing me, morally, physically, spiritually. It was something I took not knowing the details of, out of desperation during the great recession and out of fear. I despise everything there and they people I work for. I want to choose what I want now, based on values and my skills and finally have some joy in work. I am totally miserable and being killed. I need a full 360 degree change. I deserve better, but am at a loss for what to do. Frankly my job is abusing me and stealing from me. I can adapt, problem is I adapt to things I hate, I want to adapt to something I enjoy and value and can be happy with. Ken, please help!

How can you only make $27,000 at 60 years old? That's basically $13 an hour. That's like warehouse stocker pay. You have to make yourself valuable by learning a valuable skill.

I hope David found the job he wanted. Sounds like a nice person and I think older employees are usually good employees.

Of course, Ken fully obfuscates the question and gives no answers. Anyone can do his job!

@@crystalhull1677 I feel he gives guidance, not answers. The guy who wants answers doesn’t get it. Ken is getting people to think things through and problem solve out loud. Sometimes that’s all it takes to get a change going.😊

The caller should consider working at a company (such as Costco) that pays an average of $50k annually for a full-time cashier position whereby on his off time he can consider what he really wants to do. He must be struggling with the wage that he’s been earning…
