      Thank you Laura, that's so kind of you to say. I've been such a rubbish flosstuber, and the errant stitchy bug did not help at all 🙁 Thankfully it seems to be back and I've been posting regularly again to Instagram, so fingers crossed there'll be another video soon!

    I love, love, love Romantic Walk and now I am hooked on Afrimov. You have opened my world to him. Thank you so much. His paintings are just beautiful!. You did such a great job Hannah. Patty from St. Louis, Missouri, USA

      Thanks Elisa! I hope to be back much sooner than last time too :D And to try and fix whatever setting made the picture white-out so often. Silly, complicated new camera!

      Thanks! It's a shame the picture whited out, I must have a setting wrong on my camera somewhere. I've made more progress on the Galleon so hopefully you'll see it in a video soon!

    Beautiful finishes! I love all your work, but I especially love to listen to your stitching journey as you share many useful tips (probably without even realising) which definitely 'give food for thought'.Miribilia Angel is just right for all the reasons you say.Thank you for sharing and Happy New Year Hannah☺

    Great update, and beautiful finishes. I have the Anchor Galleon pattern also, though mine is from a magazine, rather than the kit. Your progress on it is really motivating me to get mine kitted up and started. I agree that the colours used in that pattern are beautiful. I would love to see a 2017 round up video too :-)

    • @hanmayde464
      @hanmayde464  6 років тому +1

      Thanks! It's a beautiful project, I hope you do make a start. I remembered that I saw it advertised in the magazine that I stitched another Anchor chart from, Balloon Fiesta, earlier this year so you must have that issue :) I've begun getting organised for the 2017 round up so hopefully, possibly, maybe (but no promises) later this week!

    Hey Hannah, so wonderful to start watching videos again today after a month away and see a video from you. I am going to diagnose you with "startitis", lol. So nice to see you again! :-) Have been missing you on Flosstube.
    Congrats again on your two finishes, they are splendid. And I'm very happy you managed to keep your stitchy bug alive. :-)
    I'm so glad to see Elegant Peacock stitched up! I have that edition of the magazine and I started that pattern as quickly as I could... Only to find out I couldn't deal with all those colour changes in the tail feathers. It's oh so pretty but not for me. So I'm very happy to enjoy seeing someone else stitch it. ;-)

      I knew I'd seen someone else mention it and couldn't think who, it was you! Shame you didn't enjoy working on it, though I know exactly what you mean about the colour changes. That seems to be a feature of Durene's designs. I'm glad I can help you still enjoy the stitching of it though :)

    I'm really fascinated by that basketweave half stitch you showed. I'm going to have to do some googling to figure out how to do that.
    Your Red Mermaid completely enabled me to go out and buy the kit. It's beautiful, love it

    • @hanmayde464
      @hanmayde464  6 років тому

      The concept is really easy, although working with lots of different colours and reading the diagonals off the chart can be a bit tricky (I think it's intended for counted canvaswork where you're filling in large sections in the same colour). Let me know how you get on, I can always try and do a tutorial if that would help.
      I'm so glad to have stitched Red Mermaid, not just because I love her, but because so many other people do and weren't aware of her. Hopefully I'll eventually see your start in one of your videos (although at the rate I'm going, you'll have finished her before I get caught up!)

    I made it to your video finally! Your work is so beautiful. It was fun walking through your stitching journey over the past few months. I'm glad you finally found a few projects that you could sink your teeth into. I love that seasonal blackwork one - too bad it's hard to find.

    • @hanmayde464
      @hanmayde464  6 років тому

      And I finally made it to your comment :D I can't wait to make a video where I don't start it by explaining where I've been and feeling like a bad flosstuber. Maybe after the next one I'll get in a rhythm - I'm so impressed that you are doing weekly updates (or at least you were back in September, which is where I'm at with flosstube now lol). I know, and as it's a pdf I can't even pass it along when I'm done with it :( I'm sure it's not impossible to get hold of, just need to find an LNS that stocks her paper charts.

    • @StitchinMommy

      I actually dropped back to monthly videos again at the beginning of this year, but it felt like too long and I was building up way too much to talk about. So, now I'm planning to try every 2 weeks - maybe that will be the sweet spot! :) I went and looked up Sandy's Seasons and found it at ABC Stitch Therapy and Stitching Bits and Bobs, as well as sold wholesale from Dinky Dyes. So, I put it on my wishlist, but since those first two websites can be notorious for taking forever to ship, I might just have to buy it myself! ;)

      @hanmayde464  6 років тому

      Thanks Dena (hope I spelled that correctly)! Unfortunately my stitchy bug put up a big resistance shortly after the video and despite my best efforts it all but disappeared. Hence another long break and disappearing off the face of social media. But I'm getting back into it over the past week and do have progress to show so I hope to have another video soon. Thanks for watching, commenting and sticking with me!

      Thanks Kate! If I did my whole 2017 in review that would be an epically long video (think WIP parade plus several new starts plus 20 odd finishes!), but I'm sure I could recap the finishes in a reasonable time. I've got the list together from my IG post so I'll try and get organised and record it at the end of this week, although no promises :)

    Lovely to see you back! Your mermaid is stunning! I'm working on a rto kit at the moment called 'my cup of tea' and the half stitch is a bit tiring but I love the piece. Siren and the shipwreck is also gorgeous! Loved seeing your wips and new starts. Happy New Year x

    • @hanmayde464
      @hanmayde464  6 років тому

      Thank you. I think I got totally burnt out with projects on aida featuring tonnes of half stitch, which did not help with my disappearing stitchy bug at all. It's nice to hear I'm not the only one that finds it hard work, I'm determined that there must be a trick somewhere to make it go faster!

    Beautiful finishes. Again I really do love the Mermaid with the fiery red hair - I’m definitely going to purchase her this year (who cares about backstitch, a? Lol). It’s a gorgeous finish!

    • @hanmayde464
      @hanmayde464  6 років тому

      Thanks! I'm not bothered by backstitch and there's not that much of it anyway, just in lots of different colours including metallics. And if you aren't phased by it then you definitely should get her :D I'm keeping an eye out for a cheap frame.

  • @kellysluiter5241

    Wow.....congrats on your 2 finishes. I can’t imagine me doing a large project. When I got back into cross stitching last March I kitted up a HAED. Started it got maybe a small tiny square done and set it aside. I think I was overwhelmed with the thought of size, changing colors etc. so for now it’s back in the kitted up box til I’m ready to try again. Happy stitching.

    • @hanmayde464
      @hanmayde464  6 років тому

      Thanks Kelly. Wow, jumping into a HAED - I've not been that brave yet! Romantic Walk was a halfway step to those big full coverage designs. I do have my eye on an Artecy Afremov chart now though.
      I can completely empathise with the overwhelm - that's how I felt when I first started Romantic Walk and had to put it down in pretty short order. But when I learned to park and discovered other techniques to make working with so many colours easier, it opened the door to those more ambitious projects and made a world of difference. I can definitely say I wouldn't have finished Romantic Walk if I hadn't found out about parking.
      So maybe all it'll take is you discovering the technique that works for you. What kinds of projects are you working on in the mean time?

  • @MaryFloNS

    Beautiful work pieces. The cream colour for the angel was an excellent choice, very pretty. The piece also would have looked just as beautiful without the wings.

    • @hanmayde464
      @hanmayde464  6 років тому

      Thank you Florence. You're right, I didn't really think about removing the wings. It probably wouldn't have been too bad to figure out the changes and maybe not even left a load of empty space that would need filling. Oh well, I've stitched them now! :)

    YAY! So happy to see your video, and as always loved your projects and finishes! Congratulations on starting a business so succesfully! well done! best wishes for the new year :) ps love that seba designs piece and wasnt aware that she's no longer on etsy, might have to hunt that pattern down :P

    • @hanmayde464
      @hanmayde464  6 років тому

      Thanks Ingeborg! It's scary going self-employed, I admire you for the success you've made of it. Fingers crossed I can build on this good start and reach somewhere sustainable, though it's still early days yet. As long as I can afford the odd stitchy purchase I'm happy, but thank goodness for all the stash I already have :D
      I can't find her etsy store any longer, only charts on 123stitch and the like. I think Turkey introduced some legislation that meant PayPal can no longer operate there, and so selling on Etsy is no longer an option. Hopefully by now she's found another way to sell her charts online. She's on IG @seba__designs (double underscore) so you could get in touch and ask

    Hi Hannah , happy new year, nice to see you back ! Your projects and finishes are all beautiful, particularly love the Angel ,you still accomplished a lot even without any stitchy bug. I am still on my darned gecko rouge kit, I lost enthusiasm months ago but keep chipping away at it, I have to finish it as its for my sister.

    • @hanmayde464
      @hanmayde464  6 років тому

      Thanks Karen! The Red Mermaid finish brought my stitchy bug back and Mirabilias are just such a joy to stitch, so touch wood I think it's back to stay for a while :)
      I completely admire you for your willpower to keep going with a project that you've lost enthusiasm for, I'd really struggle to do that! I've heard other flosstubers discussing their strategies for those situations - Katy the Stash Queen has a great one of putting a timer on each day, doing that much work on her project then letting herself go off and work on something else more fun once that's done. Would something like that help bring a bit more joy back to your stitching, yet let you still get the finish?

      You're spot on, I do exactly the same thing - leave a project out on the frame and on my stand so that it's always at the forefront. It makes it really easy to just work on it in a spare 15 minutes as well, if that's all the time that is available.

    There are very few pictures that are on the covers of patterns that show the fabric correctly

    • @hanmayde464
      @hanmayde464  6 років тому

      Very true, although some are better than others. What I meant, although didn't really say, was that perhaps the out of production Wichelt fabric was more grey, like the picture, but the closest Zweigart alternative was the blue. Or it could be the photography and printing on the pattern. With so few other stitchers seeming to have stitched it, it's hard to tell. But it's forced me out of my comfort zone and made me learn and grow as a stitcher, gaining confidence in substitutions, so it's all good!
