ever since I had my first period I suffered from Iron deficiency and I've used iron pills for years. I've tried being vegetarian but it didn't work when I lived in Turkey cause the nutritional products that I had to buy were really expensive. I've been living in Germany for 6 months now and I can't say that I'm a vegetarian but I have a plant based diet 95% of the time. When I travelled to Turkey after 4.5 months of being in Germany, I had a blood test done to see if I lack iron. Turns out my iron has risen like never before and I feel completely healthy and not bloated or uncomfortable because of trying to digest the meat.
I've been vegeterian for the past 4+ years(I still eat fish every once in a while) and honestly I feel pretty normal. But the fact is even before I went full on, I didn't like meat at all(which in my country is considered very weird) so it wasn't that hard for me to switch. But I think it really depends on your taste, habits, surroundings and sime other factors whether you will consume a lot of meat. And honestly, I don't judge people who eat meat, because as Kurzgesagt pointed out, it has its health benefits. Heck, even within my own family there are people on both sides and we still sit down and eat on the same table. I just wish non-vegeterians would treat me the same way too and I stop recieving weird looks when I tell other people I don't eat meat, because it's really annoying.

Why do people need that illusion of choice. If u can properly separate facts from opinions then it doesnt matter what video you are watching and wheter someone "tells" you to do something or not. If some people on the internet can manipulate you into doing something then there is probably something wrong with you
I am so glad i found this channel. The animation is super cute. While the information is super helpful. I can tell people behind this really wants to help others and not just make as much money for their company as possible. Thank you.
Literally on what you get. I look for meats without nitrates and nitrites. Applegate is a good company and more companies are hopping onto the no nitrates/nitrite train
At one time one could find a farmer/rancher where you would knew how it was raised and buy a yearly calf or pig then have it slaughtered for the freezer. You couldn't have four hams, but it was fresh and less expensive.
You can actually chew on coca leaves or make a herbal infusion of it that has stimulating properties of similar strength to coffee and you should be fine. Snorting any amount of purified coke will damage the mucous membrane in your nostrils, though.
In nutrition, "processed" basically means that you remove something good and/or add something bad. Grilling, boiling, steaming, chopping, refrigerating, freezing etc. are not among the things that makes something processed. Adding additives (except for spices) makes something processed. Including adding oil, sugar and/or salt (although it becomes a gradient at very low volumes). Removing good things, like going from a whole grain to refined, or a whole orange to orange juice (i.e. removing most or all fibers) also makes something processed.
When you cut a slab of meat directly out of a dead animal without any other process it's "unprocessed". Things like freezing/thawing are borderline as they can alter the structure of the meat but don't change its nutritional content. If you're looking for things to avoid pre-cooked or cured meats are generally considered to be the worst. When cooking meat it's best to render away excess fat while avoiding over-cooking or burning, meat-fumes are also potentially hazardous and should be avoided as much as possible.
Literally almost ALL prepackaged, precooked meat is processed. Cured and smoked meats are the most obvious examples, but often it is just the shitload of preservatives that are added to make it last longer. Basically the only way around it and still enjoy things like sausages is to find a butcher shop that makes them raw, or straight up pre cooks them without any preservatives. In other words, you somehow got to track down a local butcher shop that has the proper equipment.
They didn't even explain that only processed meats with artificial preservatives are the ones that are dangerous. So basically, those are any meat in cans, tetra packs, and some in jars. I don't think homemade processed meats are dangerous because those artificial preservatives are not really handily available for anyone. And that's why I will keep on making my homemade sausages, luncheon meat, and cured ham.
Hello? You stupid? Literally said in a balanced diet. The risk of things like mercury poisoning is almost non existant if you aren't only eating fish for every meal every day.
@@Zomgnomnom1 - No. You;re stupid, because you don't know that plastics and mercury are a considerable risk associated with eating fish, yet despite the fact that you didn't know that, you decided to run your mouth anyway, rather than investigate the health impacts. That right there is a prime example of evolutionary failure. We're literally talking about foreign toxins that can affect your fertility rate, so the fact that you don't think that's worth mentioning serves it's own evolutionary purpose. Eating a balanced diet applies to literally everything you put in your mouth, by the way, including water., so if that's your reason for why he shouldn't talk about an elevated health risk in a type of meat, on a video that's literally titled "is meat bad for you?"" maybe at least establish a base level of English before attempting this type of conversation.

It depends on what area you live in to. For instance, if you live in a spread out city, your not gonna see many of those people because you don’t connect with them. On the other hand, in a densely populated city, or close neighborhood, you may see more of these people regularly. Also puberty and bad parenting/schooling can cause a person to change a lot in their teens.
I think that a lot of choices in what people eat comes down to convenience, taste and morals. I, personally, am vegan, but I don’t condemn or shame anyone who isn’t. I don’t think the world will ever be entirely vegan, but I do hope the way animals are treated in the food industry changes. However, the people around me who do eat meat regularly are so unhealthy and have so many complications and yet continue to eat the same stuff, even though they’re aware of the fact that it is killing them slowly. I would rather just eat the way I do and continue to feel good physically and morally! It’s all a matter of perspective in the end.
I am Mongolian and we depend on red meat very heavily since it was part of our life. So cutting down consumption of meat is indeed drastic change for me but we will persist.
Somewhere, in a parallel universe: - "care for a plutonium sandwich?" - "nah, I'll pass. The studies have shown, that plutonium is as bad as asbestos and processed meat" - "wait.. processed meat? That element used in the construction of atomeat bombs?!"
Processed meat has been classified as definitively carcinogenic, with plutonium and asbestos. However, it should be noted that this classification is misleading since you need to eat kilos of process meat every month for years to see an increase the cancer risk of a few percent. As for plutonium, you touch one gram of it and you are dead in a few days at best. It is a weird way of classification, I think.
Here is an excerpt from a 2003 article on hazards of heavy metal contamination: "The general population does not face a significant health risk from methylmercury, although certain groups with high fish consumption may attain blood levels associated with a low risk of neurological damage to adults. Since there is a risk to the fetus in particular, pregnant women should avoid a high intake of certain fish, such as shark, swordfish and tuna. Fish, such as pike, walleye and bass, taken from polluted fresh waters should especially be avoided."
Fish is one of the most dirty things ever nowadays. Various chemicals, heavy metals and plastic concentrate in its flesh and regular consumption of it can have deleterious effects on us.
maybe for grown adults it’s fine, but i think the concern with mercury is more for pregnant women, and not even all fish. i think it’s for the fish that are more likely to have higher concentrations of it like tuna

The comments tell me "what processed meat actually is" deserves it's own video lol.
Nowadays, whatever that is not a fresh whole cut steak is processed, fish and poultry included. See Wikipedia.

There are no health risks associated with fish? Hard to take anything in this video too seriously after that statement.
Hello?

I don't care for politics myself, and it's not like I favor the right either, but I can't stand people on the left, they're such twats.

Meat is more dangerous than WHO says it is!

What about the accumulation of mercury in fish?
He says its okay to eat mercury apparently🤷♂️ Guess we shouldn't question it
Here is an excerpt from a 2003 article on hazards of heavy metal contamination:
"The general population does not face a significant health risk from methylmercury, although certain groups with high fish consumption may attain blood levels associated with a low risk of neurological damage to adults.

Infographic spreads a lot of inaccurate misinformation. The sad part is for a lot of their statements you don't need to do an enormous amount of research into the subjects they cover to find errors in their videos.
Can you guys do a video on the harms of alcohol?
and benefits ?
blue yeahh if there are they would also be interesting
@@sniperking6321 i heard that drinking 1 glass of wine is healthy . and beer is better than painkillers for headache.
an alcohol video would be nice
blue Oh no, alcohol is one of the worst drugs that is considered legal. It may not be harmful in small amounts but it doesn’t have any reasonable benefits. You’d be much healthier if you steered clear entirely.
In 1920 the American College of cardiology came out and said that meat does not cause cancer or diabetes. Whole Foods, such as meat, probably the healthiest food for you.
Ah, yes, 1920.

Simply explained does ad transitions real good
Wdym.
Seriously. Genuinely impressive.
Finally a diet video that isn't bias.
Edit: What have I created in the replies
Isaac Heinze That’s the good part about this channel. It’s more informative than giving an opinion, and shows both sides of the argument without making one side look intentionally better than the other. It also doesn’t leave out important information (at least it seems like it) that could change the argument, such as the fact a study may not be entirely accurate.
They made no mention of the fact that meat has cholesterol, which increases your own cholesterol
@@rashlon Correction : Carbohydrates+saturated(meat fat) and hydrogenated fat(like fast food) = Increases cholesterol.
@@indigowolf8302 they both do that. Everything in moderation.
@@rashlon vegan?
I always value your neutral stance on topics like this and actually making the effort to take information from both sides of the argument!
Yea, I was really suprised that he mentioned the fact that the claim that fats cause heart disease is heavily contested. Most people just assume that the badly done studies of fats and heart health that were conducted 70 years ago are completely water-tight.
@@Hypnopotimus27 saturated fats can raise LDL cholesterol and increase the chance of developing heart disease or stroke.
ANGEL ok vegan
@@acraze2287 I'm not vegan, all I'm saying is consuming an excessive amount of saturated fat can eventually bite you in the ass.
@@99Angel Can you link the studies that show this.
From what I've seen eating saturated fat does increase cholesterol. However there is no link between chronic raised cholesterol and heart disease.
