Being a professional scale builder myself, my opinion of you has now leapt into the stratosphere . With this build and the B-58 and your ability to to fly them in a scale like manor is awe inspiring. Keep up the great work and content on your channel. You are inspirational to many.
Yes, It brings a undescribable joy and satisfaction that can't even compare or come close to taking a foam model out of a box. I wish more would try it, or build a model from a real kit. Oh what a joy it is. You want to really get into this hobby, the way it used to be, you need to try it. I like some foamies too, so I'm not bashing!
So, So Beautiful Chris. Your flight was so smooth and graceful, just like it should be. None of this herky jerky, none scale mess. What a true beauty to behold. Another Classic my friend. Thanks for what you do, and Congrats!!!
Great flight! Another successful feather in your cap! Way to brave the colder weather! As a fellow former SoCal guy with a consistently warmer climate, cold weather can be a deterrent for me. You’ve inspired me to get out and fly in less than perfect conditions. Great looking plane! It’s beautiful in the air and sitting still!
Absolutely beautiful. Not an EDF but you have motivated me to pull down my Nieuport that has sat partially completed for 6 years. Thank you for sharing!
Reminds me of an a4 crossed up w an a7 or f8 on delta steroids... That looks super fun to roll rate... fast.... lol..... It reminds me of the corsair/skyhawk w/ delta n just elevon mix it.... Nice looking bird.... Cool as all stuff Cool as heck....
What an epic odyssey. Thanks for sharing. It's true good things come to those who wait. Seemed that it flew even better than it looks, if that was even possible. So next years contest winner should get a CW designed and built original from "Howling Wolfe Industries"! 🐺 So get started on it now to avoid a 5 year wait! 😂 I'll preorder one for any production overruns. 😏
@@Thercgeekmy dad's cousin was a maint chief of 103 of vf-13 on the shangri-la. he's still alive today. he rotated out right before the cuban missle crisis.
Awesome plane, build and flight. Thanks Chris. Can I ask the ready to fly all up weight please? I'm working on my own scratch build 80mm jet and another data point is always helpful. Cheers.
That thing is sweeeet!!! BTW…what happened to that big fiberglass Skyray we used to see in the background of your shop videos? And thanks for all the great RC content you share!
Thanks! I still have the big Frankel skyray. I got distracted on other things for a while, but definitely looking get that one finished. I have big plans for that one when the time comes.
A triumph indeed Chris 🏆!! What a great culminating flight for this project; she really looked the part in the air and man did you stick that landing!! Wishing you and the family a very Happy New Year and I'm looking forward to what 2024 brings from the RC Geek 😁👍
Nice plane Chris. I was not familiar with it so did some research and came across this - it was the first carrier-launched aircraft to hold the world's absolute speed record, having attained a top speed of 752.943 mph. It also set a new time-to-altitude record, flying from a standing start to 49,221 feet in two minutes and 36 seconds, all while flying at a 70° pitch angle
Oh yeah, it was quite the design. Didn’t last long though as technology was changing so rapidly at that time, it quickly became out dated. Served maybe 10 years I think.
F4D was amazing! Where can I get one. Been looking for quite some time. My father has some history with this Air plane and did a tour in AK, often talks about it when we are at the air field. Great A 7 Corsair II also.
Thank you so much! This model was a pure scratch build that started from some basic multiviews. So, unfortunately don’t have any plans for it or anything. I have a larger one slowly coming to fruition that might be something that could become commercially available. But that’s a while from now.
It flies so sweet I hope the big JHH skyray flies as nice. I will be getting to your fuse as soon as it warms up a bit. Did you get the drawings i sent?
Have you ever thought about selling your designs to companies like Freewing or Eflite to mass produce, because I could see a plane like this being mass distributed it looks and flies so well.
Build suggestion....kind of. I expect it would be a big challenge but... One of my all time favorites is the B1b Lancer. She just has super sexy lines and curves and looks completely bad ass! You don't wanna be a bad guy watching this things streaking 200' off the deck, heading your way and with murderous intentions! To say the very least. It's those sexy lines and curves that I suspect would make a challenge...and swept wings eh.

Hey...its still on one piece too! Well done, Sir 😜
She is beautiful, Chris. Top shelf as always! Cheers!
Haha, I’m very thankful that this one survived! 😆
Scratch building has to be at the extreme end of this hobby. Wonderful.

Beautiful
Honestly one of the coolest looking rc planes I’ve ever seen!! You are very talented at making scale military aircraft which is so very awesome!
Thank you!!
lot of punch in the vertical. Gorgeous airplane!
I'm surprised that you never made an A-6. You love the Navy carrier birds.
Very nice!
Great job Chris.. So scale like..

Awesome, you got this! 😊
It looks rock solid.
It is! We couldn’t have asked for any better conditions.
I’d love to see you do a review on the flightline bubble top Corsair. Also a neat scheme idea is from the recent war movie: devotion.
Very impressed with your modeling skills and the flight of this bird. Glad you had such a great result and finished it off with a very sweet landing!
Many thanks!
One of my all time favorite subjects! So well done. Congrats on a wonderful project, well executed.
Thanks so much!
very sweet!! great job
Beautiful! Looked like it flew exceptionally well!
It came out. Really nice love the way it flew.
, did a nice job. Didn't know you even built planes watch all your fly videos
Oh yeah, I really enjoy building. I’ve been trying to feature more build content since last year, but is a slow road making that content, haha
Wow Awesome Model

I’m sure it will. I did get the drawings, did you not see my previous message?
Is the powerplant an actual fuel-burning jet engine or an electric fan?
It is powered by an electric ducted fan.
Have you ever thought about selling your designs to companies like Freewing or Eflite to mass produce, because I could see a plane like this being mass distributed it looks and flies so well.
Honestly, I doubt they’d be interested. I have designed kits for my folks at jethangar.com though.
Do you have a 70mm edf version of this Skyray?
I designed a 70mm edf skyray for my folks at jethangar.com but unfortunately is no longer available. This model was based on that design.
4mins arnt bad, what size pack was that. 6S im guessing
6s 6250mah

It would be even sweeter twice that size
In the works 😉
The Navy really had a tough time giving up the F4 name.
F4B, Boeing P-12
F4C, Naval Aircraft Factory TS-1
F4D, Douglas Skyray
F4F, Grumman Wildcat
F4H, McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II
F4U, Vought Corsair
Honorable mention to FJ-4, North American Fury
What's missing?
Haha, indeed. When they changed their aircraft designation standards, the skyray was designated as the F-6A at that time.
😊💯👍
5 years to build, 2 seconds to crash . Be careful 😊
Haha, one can fly carefully and still have tons of fun flying the airplane and enjoying it. 😊

5 years is 4 and a half years too long
You’re not wrong!
I built 2 half scales in a year
Very nice.
