    As I write this I have my two labs at my feet and I wanted to say how not surprised I was to see what you and your team did for that puppy. My opinion may or may not matter much to you and your team but I was very impressed by what you did. I also want to let you know that as a new hunter, your voice for the protection, maintenance and availability of public lands and the animals on those lands is very much appreciated. Your advice and example are making a difference for this new hunter. Thank you!

    Randy, I stumbled across your videos not too long ago. I can count on one hand the number of hunters that I'll spend the time to watch. I still have a couple of extra fingers if I should happen across somebody else that I'll watch. I must say that I really enjoy what you do and how you do it. This video in particular is a great example for the younger folks. Not every successful hunt ends with a tagged animal. If a viewer keeps his eyes and ears open there is a lot to learn from your videos. Keep up the great work.

      Thank you for such a kind comment. We try our best and we tell the story that happened, no matter the outcome. And so often a highlight of a trip is a person we meet, a challenge we overcome, or in this case, a morning spent trying to help a starving puppy. Thank you for watching and best of luck this season.

    Thank you for doing what you do and showing compassion. Right when I raised my hand and thought, "I'd take him!!", you did the right thing and had that desperate lil' pup to safety. You are the definition of what a good person and hunter should be.

    The one thing I love about your videos is that whether you miss,never get a good set up on an animal or weather wrecks your hunt you keep the camera running and keep posting your footage. Makes every other true hunter out there realize every hunt doesn't end in a kill but only makes that much better of a story. Keep the videos coming in...I'm a subscriber for life Randy!

I'd be satisfied with the menories and experience if got half the success you showed. maybe my first antelope hunt will be with my bow... and I'm sure it'll come way sooner then waiting for that rifle tag. love the show! love the message! you,really an inspiration. keep up the good work.

    since moving out west my interests in taking one has been peaked, never witnessing or scouting a herd, I must ask, is that typical behavior for those animals, the stare down and approach was amazing. the lead doe glimpses the camera and brought them right to you, again amazing.

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  8 років тому

      If you do it right, it can be "typical" behavior maybe 1 out of 3 encounters. If you pressure them, they instinctively run. If you are calm and try to act somewhat non-threatening, they are very, very curious. Thanks for watching.

      I've thought about it. I have friends who do those hunts and they look like a ton of fun. That said, our platforms are about native species on public lands, so as much as I would like to hunt the exotics of NM, and I applied for them all prior to the TV show, we won't be doing any of those. Hope that makes sense. Now, when the TV world tires of me, my hat will be back in the ring for those exotics. Good luck this season.

    I found my current dog abandoned on the beach, she was about 12 weeks old. She was skinny and dirty and full of ticks. I cleaned up her up, fed her and she's been with me for nearly 8 years now. She's still scared of rain and storms despite being a labrador, I think because she was alone in the bush for weeks during some pretty terrible weather. I hate it when people do stuff like that.

    Okay so I'm noticing the same issue in all your hunts in regards to the camera man. lol Is there not a way to have him set up a distance in a blind or some sort of camo to blind him and a spray for removing human sent so he/she isn't sticking out like a sore thumb?

      @Fresh_Tracks  8 років тому

      Not it you want a high level of production quality. We have to stay together. It compromises a lot of opportunities that I would otherwise connect on, but to tell the story as we want, at the quality of production we desire, it is just part of what we accept as a reality of our work. I've always been told antelope is the stinkiest and worst tasting big game meat, but Al Gore's internet says the opposite, at least about the taste. I've never hunted antelope but am curious. Why is there such a love or hate opinion when it comes to antelope meat, and what camp do you fall into?

      As one who is on the "Love" side of the love-hate relationship, I wish I could tell you what causes the "hate" side when it comes to antelope. They are the finest table fare of all western game. Like all animals taken in hot weather, they require immediate and careful attention. They are super fun to pursue, whether with a bow or rifle. I hope you try it.

      Antelope is pretty dang tasty if the hunter cleans the animal as quick as possible. If you don't do it extremely quickly it gets gamey. My buddy gets one every year, with the scraps we mix in pork fat and make antelope/bacon burgers....unreal.
