At 9:22 you seem to hit remove for those lines, but it doesn't work so you undo and then click remove again and it seems to work the second time, what did you do here? I try hitting remove and it doesn't work and I don't know what you did to make it work the second time

You should hold ctrl and click on remove. Unlike remove It also cleans up the vertices left.

When i go to connect under edit edges at 0:37 My lines become a diamond shape and not horizontal around the object like yours. Any idea why?
Make sure you select all of the side edges of cylinder before connect. And also you can weld the vertices before to make sure your topology is good.
