    Do you have a video on making the lamberts you mention at 12:25?

    • @DigitalDreambox
      @DigitalDreambox  3 роки тому

      Hi I didn't do anything special for the lamberts. I just created them ahead of time so I didn't have to pick new colors. This video might help you out though if you new to creating materials.

    So i'm trying to make a low poly terrarium around a fox i've made, i was curious if you'd use a similar technique with the reduce technique on something with specific features/details like a fox. I quickly half assed tried it and it came out okay didn't quite have the quality look i was looking for. Curious to know your take on this and other similar models :)

    • @DigitalDreambox
      @DigitalDreambox  3 роки тому

      When you say terrarium do you mean some type of enclosure for the fox? You could try the low poly terrain tutorial I posted. However without knowing the type of game you are making such as open world vs platformer, it's difficult to know what techniques will be suit your art asset/environment.

      @@DigitalDreambox less so an enclosure but more so just a mini plane decorated with woodland features. It’s actually not for a game I more so just wanted to make it and do a little photo shoot of it with some nice lighting for my portfolio

      @DigitalDreambox  3 роки тому +1

      @@Yiannio222 In that case I would check out that tutorial I linked you. The landscape in low poly art if you look is usually quite simple and the props and lighting is what will make your scene. It sounds like it will be a great looking piece and I bet it'll be a lot of fun to make. Good luck!

      @@DigitalDreambox Hey! sorry to be a pain but i thought i'd ask you about another aspect of my design, in my piece i have a river going through the middle, i was wondering what approach you'd take to implementing that into a low poly environment. My current technique is simply to use boolean difference to create the basin and then just use a blue plain to create a river over that. This approach does the job but i've been really impressed by your stuff and would love to know how you'd approach making a river :)

    • @DigitalDreambox
      @DigitalDreambox  3 роки тому +1

      @@Yiannio222 Hi what I would do would be to combine the techniques in the Landscape tutorial along with the Freeze Tool. That's the tool on the Sculpting shelf with a snowflake on it. It allows you to mask out a area of the geometry. Just invert your brush with the Alt key to carve/push in the mesh. You can add lakes, canyons, and rivers that way. It would be really effective in creating your river. As for the river itself I would probably use a separate plane as you mentioned but lightly sculpt it so that those polygons can reflect the light in an interesting way. Hope this helps.

    i have to ask is ...why to triangulate the mesh....?? please help me

    • @DigitalDreambox
      @DigitalDreambox  2 роки тому

      Triangles are the simplest polygon so it's a common look in low poly art. It's up to you though. Some low poly props I do not bother triangulating.

    When i press 3 my trees get very circular, but I prefer how they look in polygon mode? Is there a way to make them look like that permanently?

    • @DigitalDreambox
      @DigitalDreambox  3 роки тому

      I may be misunderstanding your question but pressing 3 gives you a smooth preview so just don't press it if you don't want to see it. To change the preview level you can go to Attribute Editor > Smooth Mesh > Subdivision Levels > Preview Division Levels.

    Sir, i dont have a remesh and retopologized option in my mesh button, im using mqya 2017. What should i do

    • @DigitalDreambox
      @DigitalDreambox  3 роки тому +1

      Hi on versions before Maya 2020 you may be able to access the Remesh and Retopology feature through the Command Line. Select your mesh and then enter polyRemesh; for Remesh or polyRetopo; for Retopologize. After that open your Attribute editor and look for either the polyRemesh1 or the polyRetopo1 tabs and you should be able to change the settings there. Hopefully this will work for you otherwise you may need to update Maya.

      Hi in Maya 2018 you may be able to access the Remesh and Retopology feature through the Command Line (The box beside MEL at the bottom of the screen). Select your mesh and then enter polyRemesh; for Remesh or polyRetopo; for Retopologize. After that open your Attribute editor and look for either the polyRemesh1 or the polyRetopo1 tabs and you should be able to change the settings there.

    hii, i have a question, how do I retopology or remesh in maya2019?
    I have read the steps that you have put in a comment of Maya 2018, but I do not get any button next to the MEL. and sorry for my english

    • @DigitalDreambox
      @DigitalDreambox  3 роки тому

      Hi sorry for the late reply. Mel is the Command line and all versions of Maya should have it and you would just enter your scripts in the box. There isn't a button. On my editor I can enable it by going to Windows > UI Elements > Command Line.
