I can not for the life of me find a decent strat neck file. I've followed 4 different tutorials on designing my own CAD file. That is an art I just can not figure out. Great work though! Extremely jealous lol
Thank you Justin, it took me quite a while to crack the 3D modelling of a neck. The one on this video is probably version 15. I’m pretty happy with it now for size and feel.
That's fascinating stuff. I never realised it was cutting with the side of the cutter before, so that's how you can achieve deeper cuts rather that ploughing down into the material from the top. I intended to get myself a CNC in the future, but really need to work out 3D modelling first :)
Thanks Chris, I’m glad that you found my video interesting. Yes cutting on the side of the cutter is the way to go, it’s fast and the cutters last a lot longer.
Boa noite, comprei uma CNC, mas ainda não tenho os vetores 3D/ 3D templates . Você poderia compartilhar esse arquivo para eu fazer um teste? Atenciosamente Robson Mello - Luthier Master Builder VTC Custom Guitars Hand Made in Brazil
Many thanks for your comments, I wish you all the best with your CNC machine. Unfortunately due to the amount of time and effort it takes to me make my 3d models I’m not in the habit of giving them away, sorry
What is your opinion of the work bee for routing necks and bodies? Is it accurate enough? What issues have you had with the machine? Thanks for creating and sharing your videos.
Thanks for your message, I’ve had my workbee over 2 years now. For the money the standard bee is very good and I made a good few guitars on the stock bee. However it wasn’t long before I looked at upgrading my machine. The first issue was the height of the Z axis. I actually used the workbee to machine taller gantry plates 40mm taller and 8mm thick instead of the 6mm stock ones. I had it like that for probably a year at a guess. Then I found I was pushing the machine to it’s limits with larger cuts and my quest for faster machining. I stripped it down and built a much stronger version using liner rails. I have intact a video of this build on my channel if your interested. It is now a far superior machine built to my requirements for guitar making.
