Chest measurement: make sure you're breathing normally, and taking the measurement at the biggest point in your breath cycle. (lung volume changes chest size) Hips: feet should be together, having feet apart will make an artificially large hip measurement 😊
What I find confusing is that us guys have 3 different measurements when it comes to buying pants: 1 - waist (typically measured from ~ belly button - mine is 74cm or 29") 2 - hips (widest point lower than your belly button/pelvis - mine is 82cm or 32") 3 - backside/ass circumference (peak/fullest point - mine is 92cm or 36") When ordering, it's sorted by 'waist size' but your pants sit on your 'hip measurement' rather than waist. I'm always like, which measurement do I stick to before buying online?
Thank you - ive measured myself before, I used these mearements, ill have to do it again though. I seem 2 be 2xl but somtimes there 2 big, sometimes xl fits bet then I have grown abit becouse of training. I wish clothes came in standard sizes instead of different brands having there version of of whatever size phhh!
Is it really helpful to measure clothes I already own, and then compare the measurements to a size chart of the same type of clothes I'm going to buy online?
Here ya go if you're really interested. I did a separate video for proper measurements for shoes too. Height: 5' 8" (172.72 cm) -Back: 34 (86.36) tucked, 32 (81.28) untucked -Chest: 36 (91.44 cm) -Arms (length): 24 (60.96 cm) -Waist: 30" (76.2 cm) -Hips: 39" (99.06 cm) -Legs (inseam): 28" (71.12 cm) -Right Foot Length: 25.9 cm -Right Foot Width: 11 cm +Left Foot Length: 26 cm -Left Foot Width: 11.1 cm
The arms, chest will actually cover it to give you want idea and unless you're going for a suit it may not matter for most clothing. I'm sure you could look up how to do it though. My guide was mostly for regular clothing sizing charts.
@@EricTMeraki Thanks very much. But how can I know it is a good source? Your shirt is really well fitted, I'd like something that gets me that result too. Thanks very much in advance.
I have been searching the web for answers for too long now, and I don't know who to ask... Now I know how to take body measurements, but what now? How do I apply these measurements? How do I translate my body measurements into tailored clothes? Would love to see a tutorial on how to apply this newly acquired knowledge
Thanks for watching! These measurements are meant to be compared to a clothing size chart since different brands will use different measurements for their size charts so if you know your measurements you'll always find the right size to buy.
Start the end of the tape measure on the outside edge of the shoulder. This is where the horizontal part of the shoulder meets the vertical part of the arm. Measure up over the curve of the shoulders and to outside edge of the other shoulder. It'll be easier with another person to help you.
So informative! It seems silly in hindsight, but I was surprised that this is *exactly* the same as taking measurements on women. PS: I wanted to say something #thirsty about helping with your inseam (lol, too late), but I respect your work!
Lol thanks, this was one of my first informative how to videos. Glad you thought it was useful. This video isn't getting as many views as I hoped it would. Thx for watching!
Most companies will not display their t-shirt length so you will not need to know your back length. That's why I did not include it. If you're curious here is how you measure your back. Bend your head forward to find the most prominent bone in the back of your neck and measure from here down the spine to the bottom of your back waist.
@@EricTMeraki Oh thanks for the Info. When it comes to clothing, I am very particular with the length than width, I hate it when my shirt is short. Recently I was checking out for shirts to buy online, and most company displays the complete shirt sizes and that includes body length. Thanks for the info though I really appreciated it..

When you say from your top shoulder do you mean where your neck meets your shoulder ?? Or right at top of your armpit ?
Yes where neck meets shoulder.
Thanks buddy this helps a lot genuinely. 😊 👍

What measurements do you need to make when buying a hoodie for example? Thanks👍
The same you would for any clothing. Chest, back, arms, etc.

Is it really helpful to measure clothes I already own, and then compare the measurements to a size chart of the same type of clothes I'm going to buy online?
Some brands sizes will vary if you compare their size charts but usually not by too much.
Generally my waist is smaller(26.5 inch) than my hip(around the hip bones 28 inch)
If i want to buy a jean, should i follow the waist size?
Go with hip size if you think it fits you better.
Always size up, never down. So hip measurement, if that is bigger. The area that is loose can always be shrunk by a tailor or you add a belt.
Hey man, nice video! just wondering what brand and fit of jeans you got on in this video?
I believe those are skinny fit jeans from h&m
Helpful bro, thanks
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the clear instructions.

If you measure your waist your jeans sit below your waist how does that help?
That's because your jeans cut are based on the waist size and not hip size.
It would've been useful to read out your measurements to get an idea .. I have a body similar to yours

Can I use this vdo for the UK measurement?
Yeah it's the same logic. I was using inches but you can use any metric like centimeters if you want.

Based on height and weight probably small or even xs depending on the type of fit you want to go for.
Where can I find info on how to do a professional measurement for me guys?
Google how to measure for a suit. That covers more for the entire body and proportions.

How do you know how tall a hoodie is?
See if the website shows the measurements on the size chart.
The problem I found is that some companies don't put a size chart up on their site
Makes me less likely to shop at one of those companies
where is the top of your shoulder? That is why I was watching this video.

Most shops that sell suits can do it. Google clothing fitting services in your area

Yes but it can be converted to cm.
