I went from a 17 ZL1 Camaro to a 24 Z06/Z07. Love it! When I drove the base Stingray, it wasn’t enough to make me sell the ZL1 as it didn’t stir me viscerally. Once I saw and heard the Z06 in 2022, I knew it was time to sell the ZL1. Every drive in the C8Z06 feels like an experience. Great video!
Fun fact about decibels. Every 3 db is the doubling of sound pressure. But the human ear can't perceive sound being twice as loud until about 10 dB. So 89 to 99 is about twice as loud lol
For that straight line? It's only 670hp. That's 70hp more than my perf tuned C6. Get the C8 z51, take a portion of that $50k and bring it to a reputable performance shop. 1.5x or double the HP. Then buy a Ducati V4 or used V4r with the remainder. Very few people would be able to tell the difference between a Z06 vs. a performance tuned z51. The ones who need that difference, aren't paying for it themselves.
Same. I was quite happy with the Stingray, plenty fast and handled great (Z51), so had no plans to get a Z06-until I heard that motor, and resolve went out the window. ❤
I've watched about 100 Stingray and Z06 videos and every time get a smile watching guy's test it out. Hell I even go to the GM dealership once and awhile and look at them in person like a big kid and man I'm 45 years old lmao
I own 2 C7 Z06s and when my ordered C8Z06 got here, I test drove it and a brand new Z51 back to back. I bought the Z51 because to me, it’s a MUCH MUCH better value. The 3LT interior is night and day better than his 1LT
I agree. The C7Z was a beast and the new C8 doesn’t have that type of 650lb-ft feel. Plus you had to rev it out to feel any type of power. The C8 stingray is a much better street vehicle from light to light. On an away, the C7Z will smoke the C8Z all day. 😊

Incredible performance for the money and I had a blast with mine; put a few bolt-ons on and tracked it a few days. And it’s a nice GT car. Pretty smooth and comfortable over long distances in Tour mode and gets surprisingly good MPG. The Z06 though…whoa…🤯 Totally different beast. Absolutely savage right out of the box (after break-in). Quicker, waaaay louder 😂, at speed feels super planted and solid. Unbelievable grip through corners; very high limit. I’d pay $50k more than the base every freakin’ day with no regrets.

The LS/LT has decades of development behind it. You could build a very serious NA Stingray plus suspension and aero for way less than the MSRP of a Z06.
Sheerhippo you are right they have developed the LS/LT to the Nth degree. It's a nice way of saying it's played out. LT6 is a year old and is basically untouched by the aftermarket so far. Not for long I would imagine. Think of the LT6 as two K24s. 4 piston Racings 2.7 K series made 519hp. Now times that by 2. 1k hp NA @ 10,000 rpm? Yes please.

My 1LZ z06 was 115k out the door so you don't need to spend 150k on one. Yes i have the poverty spec z06 but i got the car for the widebody and the engine. I had my name on the stingray list and cancelled that when my name was called for the z06. Having the z06 now there would be no way i was going to be happy owning a stingray lol. Hopefully in a couple of years i can upgrade to the ZR1.
I’m not a bells & whistles guy either. If I upgrade my c8, it’ll definitely be the 1LZ. The exhaust sound of the z06 is the only reason I wanna upgrade

@@W0WthatsjustSad No the tax i had to pay myself. I had to register the car before i picked up the car to fulfil the "no flip" policy. I have a 2023 so this was before all the price increases. I think there's already 2 price increases. I don't have any options on the car except red calipers which i think were 595 extra i can't remember. That's literally all i did for options. ANd red seats but that was free. I got the car from macmulkin. But these days these cars are going for fairly "cheap" now you can probably find some floor models just sitting there although probably not the spec you're looking for, for 5k under MSRP.

Great Video!! I have a Matte Blk 3LZ/Z07 with Carbon wheels and I’m in love. This thing screams with a straight piped Catless & Titanium exhaust setup.. I also have the Ported Throttle bodies and Eventuri intake, pushing 730+HP. Damn thing can be heard over 4 miles away. Sounds very much like a V12. Comparing a Stingray to a Z06 is like comparing a pineapple to a biscuit LOL Definitely a 458 on some serious steroids ✌🏼 Worth EVERY Penny 💯 ZR1 🤔 doesn’t sound as good but I will have to see And hear one in person before I decide to give my Z07 up.. I know it will do 215+ but mine already sounds like I’m doing 215 in 2nd at 8k RPM. Very emotional experience 🖤
You can easily turn off cylinder deactivation - RTFM, there's several ways. I recommend Z mode to also open the exhaust. For those of us without ANOTHER $50K, it does quite nicely!

I've got almost the same spec z06, 2024 rapid blue, carbon aero wing, standard brakes, etc. It was seriously a dream car for me and it's incredible, I love it.
I have a ‘22 Z51 and have 10k miles on it. Flawless build quality. Absolutely zero issues. And the red tint-mist is perfect. Not a single swirl. To me, the biggest difference in my C7 GS and my C8 is the build quality. Fingers crossed, that remains the case.
The noise alone with the top down is worth the money. I had a 23 Z06/z07 with no miles for a month. Put a thousand miles on it. I’ve driven 911s for 25 years including 3 GT3s. And a Lamborghini. Ive driven several Ferraris and this Z06 is in another class (from any other corvettes). I would have kept IF Chevy didn’t start overbuilding the Z06s . The value is starting to drop. Chevy is getting greedy. (My dealer never had any Z06s and now he has 5 coming and he only ordered 2) But it is a supercar in every sense.
@@mattrohr1266 Chevy said no more than 20% of vette production would be Z06s and only 20% of those would be Z07’s. They’re at 36 % so far in 25. They’re cashing in and they don’t care what happens to the customers who paid almost $200,000 for a Chevy. I won’t but a $200,000 car if the manufacturer isn’t going to support their owners. I bought my 3rd 911 gt3 for 150,000. Just sold it for 185,000 after 6 years. Porsche keeps their special car numbers down. Now they do make a lot of different special cars but they don’t over build them. I should have known not to trust Chevy even at MSRP. Look at 23s already down $30,000 or more. 24s below MSRP and 25s below MSRP. They keep this up and Z06s will be below 100k
The production percentages that you quote were estimates, not PROMISES. It would be foolish for Chevy to purposely limit production of ANY Corvette after spending boatloads of money for R&D and factory tooling. Blaming Chevy for whatever resale values turn out to be is silly, especially since the car is such a performance value when new. People generally don't buy cars as investments...because the majority of them are NOT good investments....including most Porches.

thank you for the honest facts about the cars... i was wavering on this vs an Audi RS car or BMW M... A friend just gifted me his Gt3 RS allocation... just not sure I want to pop down 250K for a pure track car... i like to drive around town and show off occasionally, and that is within shouting distance of my favorite Ferrari... :) At least Now i can strike Corvettes from my list. I can't stand sub-standard build quality. (which is helping me not lust after the Ferrari - seriously effed up attention to detail.)

Nice review.. surprised not a mention of the E-ray. You should give it a try, 600lbs of tq gives it a completely different dynamic. Also cheaper then the z06 and you dont get hit by that now 3K GG tax. Also CC breaks are standard.

My friend was on the list for a C8 Z06 HTC and just couldn't wait any longer. He bought a C8 Stingray HTC and has been perfectly happy with it...until yesterday. I took him for a ride in my C8 Z06. When I dropped him off at his house after the ride he said, "I feel like I made the biggest mistake of my life" which of course stoked my ego quite a bit. There is no comparison. EDIT: And just for reference, I built a nicely spec'd out HTC 2LZ (non-Z07 package) for $142155 out the door.
Have the C8 Z06 for 10 months now. I miss the edge of losing control torque of the C7 Z06 manual. Drove the Ferrari 488 Pista on track and fell in love with that sexy car. I like the forced induction better. So now gotta decide ZR1, the Proper C8 version or the lower power but lighter weight 488 Pista (Or F8)... Won't be able to test drive the C8 ZR1 before picking one up so gonna have to rely on podcasters like this. Leaning toward the ZR1 cuz it shoots flames like a Lambo...
The pushrod engine makes great torque and can keep up on the launch - however the low rpm limit of the motor really starts to hurt it at higher speeds, dohc is able to easily pull away. A camshaft upgrade would bring it in line with the z06 tho
You guys gotta drive a BMW X4M competition. I have both Z6 and eight and I know on paper it says the CO six is faster but that BMW is an unbelievable car.

Its easy to keep it out of the v4 mode, simply put in manual shift mode, use paddle shifters and itll stay in v8 mode, also i crease motor longevity too.
Gents. With the iron rotors, pretty sure not a Z07 package on the Z06 as mentioned in the video. I believe they force you to get the CCBs with the Z07 package 🤨🧐. Clearly this Z has the aero package with dive planes and wing, but that does NOT require Z07 or CCB’s.
My base poverty level 006 2024 before tax was under 120. No museum delivery no options so it’s about a $35,000 difference I’ve had both and I do track it and there is a night and day difference.

Z06 is more than just performance metrics, totally different experience that matches the mid engine platform so much better. Some people see the value in that, others don’t. Supercharging or turbocharging a Stingray won’t come close to the same experience.

customize my mode and turn the exhaust to stealth. Make sure to put my mode on before turning it off, that way when you turn it on in the morning it starts in stealth mode. its very quiet.

thank you for the honest facts about the cars... i was wavering on this vs an Audi RS car or BMW M... A friend just gifted me his Gt3 RS allocation... just not sure I want to pop down 250K for a pure track car... i like to drive around town and show off occasionally, and that is within shouting distance of my favorite Ferrari... :) At least Now i can strike Corvettes from my list. I can't stand sub-standard build quality. (which is helping me not lust after the Ferrari - seriously effed up attention to detail.)

@@franciscohernandezjr3057 there’s even a thread about this on the Corvette forum, people said Stingray looks better from the front while the Z06 has the better looking rear due to the extra width and honestly, 90% of non-car people can’t tell the difference between the two

Nice review.. surprised not a mention of the E-ray. You should give it a try, 600lbs of tq gives it a completely different dynamic. Also cheaper then the z06 and you dont get hit by that now 3K GG tax. Also CC breaks are standard.

My friend was on the list for a C8 Z06 HTC and just couldn't wait any longer. He bought a C8 Stingray HTC and has been perfectly happy with it...until yesterday. I took him for a ride in my C8 Z06. When I dropped him off at his house after the ride he said, "I feel like I made the biggest mistake of my life" which of course stoked my ego quite a bit. There is no comparison. EDIT: And just for reference, I built a nicely spec'd out HTC 2LZ (non-Z07 package) for $142155 out the door.
Have the C8 Z06 for 10 months now. I miss the edge of losing control torque of the C7 Z06 manual. Drove the Ferrari 488 Pista on track and fell in love with that sexy car. I like the forced induction better. So now gotta decide ZR1, the Proper C8 version or the lower power but lighter weight 488 Pista (Or F8)... Won't be able to test drive the C8 ZR1 before picking one up so gonna have to rely on podcasters like this. Leaning toward the ZR1 cuz it shoots flames like a Lambo...

My '24 Stingray w/ Z51 and mag ride is a better car than I am a driver. It's amazing.
The pushrod engine makes great torque and can keep up on the launch - however the low rpm limit of the motor really starts to hurt it at higher speeds, dohc is able to easily pull away. A camshaft upgrade would bring it in line with the z06 tho
You guys gotta drive a BMW X4M competition. I have both Z6 and eight and I know on paper it says the CO six is faster but that BMW is an unbelievable car.
You can use Z Mode and it will keep your valves open as long as you select certain parameters, which anyone driving sportingly would select anyways.

Consider supercharging or twin turbo the base C8 and compare to Z06. Only fair comparison.

Its easy to keep it out of the v4 mode, simply put in manual shift mode, use paddle shifters and itll stay in v8 mode, also i crease motor longevity too.

Gents. With the iron rotors, pretty sure not a Z07 package on the Z06 as mentioned in the video. I believe they force you to get the CCBs with the Z07 package 🤨🧐. Clearly this Z has the aero package with dive planes and wing, but that does NOT require Z07 or CCB’s.

Z06 is more than just performance metrics, totally different experience that matches the mid engine platform so much better. Some people see the value in that, others don’t. Supercharging or turbocharging a Stingray won’t come close to the same experience.

customize my mode and turn the exhaust to stealth. Make sure to put my mode on before turning it off, that way when you turn it on in the morning it starts in stealth mode. its very quiet.

I find the ZO six constantly pulls in every gear no bog down in RPM. It keeps on pulling in every gear
