"I used to wonder what it would be like to fight my twin, now I know." ~ Arturo Gatti
Ward's ability to absorb a body shot was equally legendary.
That was amazing the amount of pain he could endure.
I concur!!
And give one.
That’s the Irish Celtic blood bro
I played Fight Night Round 3 in the 2000s and even today. These guys were on the cover! Thank you for this history lesson. I feel nostalgic over a fight I’ve never seen.
Go watch it. especially the 1st one. Worth the hour.
They are on youtube. Worth the watch.
On career mode bro the Arturo fights were always harder than the other guys I swear.
@@papagalooleo559 Think Fight Night had hard coded Knockout blows. Think Ward had a stronger body shot in the game with more KO potential if I remember correctly. So pretty sure you are remembering correctly.
They were the only guys i would use. Their heart and stamina were un-freaking-real
This was the best trilogy in boxing history .. RIP Arturo Gatti !
Without a doubt ! Both absolute warriors !!
It was good trilogy but I have to disagree with that one Frazier vs Ali, Barrera vs Morales, Marquez vs Vasquez, pac vs Marquez.
Barrera Morales
I think the backstory makes it the best.
Absolutely
Mad respect to Augustus, not his style to slug it out inside like that but he did amazing. Props to that ref for acknowledging their performances.
the great Steve Smoger
That was a phenomenal fight. The Joker decided to go toe to toe with the Knight. To this day I don't know how those guys stood afterwards.
@@thejamnasium6447
The right referee can make a great fight legendary. That’s what happened here!
@@boston7704 omg YES finally someone mentions it, these new referees end these fights FAR too quickly even when the fighter is barely even hurt or only go down once or twice 🙄
@@thejamnasium6447 Smoger really was a quality ref!!!
Phenomenal fights, I get goosebumps when watching. Your edit and narration made this even more enjoyable. Thank you
Thank you for taking the time out your day to watch the video. Means a lot.
Two absolute warriors always forward never back
Damn this is SO good! Thank you. Fighters don't fight like this anymore. These were epic WARS that earned fans for life!
Earned brain damage too
Bodyshot artists are rare these days. Inoue, Ward, Loma, Canelo.....these cats knew how to break ribs
ward retired
Inoue is a viscous body puncher
Godzilla man to me is the guy. There many body snatchers out there that we have not seen.
Truth. All those boxers are body chopping cats that melt your internal organs at the snap of their fingers. Such an art form for boxing in the ring.
@@brendancronin3796 Fucken'oath mate. That cats a legit killer.
The drunken master. Wow. Augustus was a brilliant underachiever many fans never saw him fight.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. said something about him being his hardest fight.
I caught their first encounter live all by myself. I was in tears jumping up and down...all by myself. It's The greatest trilogy EVER! I wish I could get my hands on the person who killed "The Thunder!" There aren't many fighters more exciting than Arturo Gatti.
That's fucking weird.
@@jhtsurvival What is "fucking weird?" Jumping up and down with tears?? It's called emotions. One day when you grow up, you'll accept that you have them. Great fights like this make me incredibly excited and emotional. It's normal. It's healthy and mature people accept it and don't describe it as "fucking weird" like a child going through puberty.
@@salvitoripopadillo4539 well said in both your comments.
@@FatherFirst Thank you. I feel like I was a little harsh as some boys are still taught not to cry.
@@salvitoripopadillo4539 you weren't harsh. The comment made to you was intended to confrontational and disrespectful from the way I read it. But your response was absolutely excellent. And I know exactly what you mean by the excitement and emotion that run through you when you're witnessing history. It's not tears of sadness so much as it's tears of excitement as you realize the moment you are witnessing in real time will forever be immortalized and live much longer than any person life. It's incredible to witness things so profound and impact full that they create such a deep emotional response. I've felt the same. Watching Rose Namajunas knock out Weile Zhang (I probably just slaughtered both of those names) with a high kick yo get her UFC belt back had me jumping yelling and screaming with tears in my eyes. And I don't watch very many women fight. But she's one of the absolute best and I've followed her career so watching that moment in real time just affected me the way it did. It was incredible. And yeah REAL men cry. Especially if they are real with themselves.
Such poetic descriptions from the narrator!! Just awesome.Fitting respect to one of the greatest trilogy. Thanks a lot!
Best boxing channel
When Jim lampley talked about this trilogy he was brought to tears.
3 fights that truly made me love boxing. The best boxing matches that weren't for a title. We will never see this again cause no one wants to Lose an 0 now a days :(
I have tears running down my face. That was the pinnacle of trilogy boxing. Gatti is one of my all time favorite boxer, still sad knowing he’s gone. RIP Thunder
1 of the Greatest fights I ever seen straight blood & guts
As match ups go, Micky Ward vs Arturro Gatti is up there with Thee Best.
Two Sportsmen, Two Warriors,
Two Champions who gave Us Everything they had and gave Eachother Best Friend Status.
Easily The Best Trilogy I had the pleasure of watching.
R.I.P. Arturro Gatti 🙏
There are five fights you show when introducing somebody to boxing:
Ali-frazier 1.
Holyfield-Bowe.
Hagler-Hearns.
Leonard-Hearns.
Gatti-Ward.
Morales Barrera (all of them)
I would add these fights (after introducing )
Sugar ray Robinson-Jake Lamota
L. Lewis - R. Mercer
Salvador Sanches - Vilfredo Gomes
I still get chills watching this trilogy. It's a 30 round love story. So epic
Ward vs Emmanuel Burton is one of the top 10 best fights ever. So much output
I lean towards Gatti vs Wilson Rodriguez
and/or Gatti vs Gabe Ruelas as all time favourites. Huge output, huge punishment, huge power punches, huge wins, literal action packed drama filled actual hollywood type fights, that are actually unscripted REAL BOXING matches! 👍
Two of my personal favourite fighters. The respect they showed for each other throughout their trilogy, and the honour both of them possessed, not to mention 50's style grit is something absolutely legendary in my opinion. Their cemented friendship and Ward's reactions both publicly and privately after Gatti's untimely death, and his kindness to Gatti's family, show a real man. A great man. RIP Arturo and absolute respect Micky👊
Greatest trilogy ever, period. And all three fights were among the best of the decade. So much heart from both guys. 💪 ♥️
Correction , the fights of the century for the latter
I'm a 6'1, 18 stone gas worker, been on the shovel all my working life from 13 years old, 4 children, married, suffered injuries, bankruptcy, deaths...you name it. Never shedded a tear.... not because I'm cold or owt but just because it isn't my way, but this....my word. It was beautiful. I'm sat here with tears. RIP Gatti. Long live Ward. Amazing.
Men like us are hard to find and even harder to break, mate.
We respect those who earn it, love deep and even shed a tear from time to time.
I'm 6'5, 250 and worked at 13 years old to support an alcoholic Father until leaving to join the military.
My Father committed suicide, my mother passed 4 years later from cancer, my 1st wife went to cancer as well and it was the last tear I've shed.
Hopefully when it's our time we can look back as Men and say, "We've lived!"
Mad respect from my side.
I remember seeing each and every fight. Watched all of them a second time around just because they show what will and determination looks like. And still be friends in the end. Reminded me of a now friend and I. We had to throw hands several times growing up. Respect grew each time. Now we have kids. We cool now and reminisce about those days. This documentary makes me re-live those moments. Thank you!
This Was The Greatest Rivalry In Boxing History And My Favorite 🥊🔥. RIP ARTURO GATTI
Rhythm boxing is underrated and under appreciated, I keep telling people
Way way much better than watching Floyd's defensive boxing
Gatti vs Ward I is my favorite fight of all time. These guys gave it there all and nobody could ever take that away from them. That trilogy was really something special.
What an honor to be able to see these two warriors. I know it's a brutal sport but I always get emotional for the opposite reason. Going 36 rounds of war and finding a brother is just beautiful. Rip Gatti you deserve front row seats to fights like yours for eternity!
The third fight should’ve ended in a draw with the trilogy being tied.
It always seemed like it would’ve been fitting to me.
Absolutely amazing trilogy! Thank you for creating this video because, without it, I may never have seen or heard of this trilogy.
The Ramones & 'the Bear from Revenant' are accurate pop-culture references for this boxing classic.
Thank you for making these beautiful video's. These are video's that help men get through tough days.
Preciate the kind words. I’m glad my videos can uplift those in need.
@@rhythmboxing I was a martial artist for 20 years, 3 black belts. Won nationals in 2006 and competed in 2 Countries. If you would ever like to collaborate please let me know. Would love to. I video edit as well.
@@rhythmboxing is there a type of collaboration we can do that honors Emmanuel Augustus and brings more awareness to his situation? Maybe we can help him. He got shot in the face by a stray bullet and isn't the same man anymore. It hurts my soul and I want to help however I am not a financially well off person. But I can video edit!
You know you met your best boxing buddy when you go rounds like this and then become friends afterward💪
The references are just so god damn epic, I wish I had a reference just to show my appreciation for them!
ua-cam.com/video/eF6ZSLDwLhM/v-deo.html
For that Augustus fight... only Steve Smoger would allow that kind of fight to keep going. Need more refs like him. Rarely see inside fighting like that anymore
Fabulous short documentary. What a trilogy. Both these men are legends!!! R.I.P Arturo Gatti.
I love the way you narrated this. Hell a Good writing there.
I started boxing years ago after the first time I’ve watched All rounds of this insane Trilogy. My god do I have so much admiration for these two tough SOB’s
I’ve seen all of their fights. Do you know how exhausting that is?Punching almost constantly for all those rounds. Tremendous heart on both of these guys.
RIP Arturo! This was the first one of your videos that had me amping up but tearing up at the end. I'm grateful for the guys I got at the gym like this. I'll make sure to give em a good fight next sparring session in honor of these guys' trilogy. Something special about professionals who show up to work but are kind and friendly to each other outside of the art.
Ward is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. Always be the pride of lowell.
"OH MAH GAWD!!!!!!" - Emmanuel Steward ... first fight between these two in the history books as one of the greatest fights of all time.
I remember watching Ward vs. Gotti live with my dad and my brother. I was hooked on fighting all styles of fighting after this fight. I was absolutely entranced by it all and I remember all three of us screaming at the top of our lungs on our feet cheering them on.
There will never be boxers like these 2 ever again !! Chins of steel and hearts of true warriors 👊 Rip Gatti 🙏
This trilogy will be immortalized for sure.
I remember these fights, as tough as he was, you couldn't help but root for him.
I hated Gatti, but I was young and stupid, not realizing what a warrior he was...RIP
All central southern Italy is warrior, but probably does not like ethnicity, so you have to suffer the passive hostility that comes from all directions.
Damn. This is one of the best videos ever🔥🥊💯
It's a beautiful trilogy. Hard earned and well deserved fights of the year respectively.
Whenever I think of epic trilogies, the Gatti vs Ward is always what comes to mind. I remember watching these fights as a kid.
My senior prom was the same night as Gatti/Ward, and I made it to the mountain top three separate times that night….and my most vivid memory is the next morning coming home and having my mind blown by that fight
Rhythm Boxing just made me come back here again...Great boxers, Great trilogy, Great Channel🥊🥊
This channel is awesome! The narrator brings out the real excitement in these classic fights. Let's not forget the war between Marquez and Israel Vasquez.
props on giving the augustus fight, the attention it deserves. was fortunate to be watching it live on espn. all time classic. if gatti v ward wasnt THE best fight in history, we would be talking about that augustas fight even more.
Greatest trilogy ever and what makes is better is there was no titles at stake, just 3 fights to see who was the better fighter. Two epic fighters to grace the sport of boxing, both legends. R.I.P. Arturo "Thunder" Gatti
Yessss my favorite boxing trilogy even watching this recap is bringing me to tears.
Greatest trilogy in combat sports history and my mind will never be changed. Rest in Power Arturo.
I watch a lot of boxing, but Rhythm Boxing, in my opinion, make the very best docs on UA-cam. They never disappoint. The narrator has a very professional sounding voice. Please do one on Smoking Joe Frazier.
The respect these 2 had with each other became realy good friends and still gave it their all
Edit: this video gave me goosebumps
The narration is second to none, the edit is magnificent and the love for the fight and the fighters you can feel it, absolutely top notch stuff, thank you.
I remember Gatti vs Ward 1 and watched it live at home. Within 30 second sof round 1 I was standing and I didn't sit down again until the fight was over. Like a kid, I was jumping up and down, throwing punches in the air. By round 4 I was heering for BOTH fighters. How you know greatness is that it transforms people. I know I wasn't alone in rooting for both fighters and also not caring one bit who won AT ALL. It was like the world didn't exist and the fans merged with the fighters in one unit.
I am, like Ward, from Massachusetts. I ran into him at UFC 33 or 34 in Connecticut. I asked for his autograph (this was before selfies and cell phones) and he had so much nerve damage in his hands that he had trouble holding the pen. When he went to write his name, he froze for a moment, as if he forgot his name. There, I knew, that all the wars he had been in were beginning to affect him. I am not sure what he is like today, but I hope he/his brain is in great health. People like Ward and Gatti (RIP) deserve to be taken care of for the rest of their lives because of the gidt of entertainment they gave tens of millions.
Every gatti vs ward presentation is a must watch. Never gets old. R.I.P Gatti.
Gatti was a bobble head at 9:58. This was the combo I always remembered from this trilogy.
3 huge battles in only 18 months! Another legendary fact about this trilogy.
That ramones quote got my subscription .
True warriors of our time. Laid all their insecurities out for all the world to see. Giving everything they had. Til the very last second
I will never forget their battles because it was something we never saw before... two guys fighting to the brink of exhaustion in almost every round. The ability to absorb the punches that came at their heads and bodies just blew me away. It was gladiator combat in a boxing ring. What those two gave us was a once-in-a-lifetime fight 3 times in a row. It was amazing to see these guys become best friends and yet still go to war with one another. Simply amazing and I will never forget it for as long as I live. It's to bad Gotti died in mysterious circumstances because he deserved to ride off into the sunset and recieve his Boxing Hall of Fame day with Ward by his side.
These are the best fights of all time , my time , the late and great Gatti RIP greatness
Amazing in the 3rd fight that they could fight each other like that after becoming friends. Two champions belts or no belts. Two warriors forever bound together for all time. Great video brother
This channel is gold.
Thank you 💪
Two Men,Two Warriors,Two LEGENDS..purely Magnificent
I named my son Arturo it's the greatest honour I could bestow on both of them!
That left hook to the body. Is one of the greatest punches. To be thrown. Gatti getting up from that. Was one of the greatest moments to me.
You can’t keep fighting viciously like this Ward guy and live long.
I can’t believe that this channel has 138k sub
Such fury unleashed in this trilogy which no mortals have ever seen.
can't imagine a much harder life than working on a road crew during the day and being a journeyman boxer on the side
You havent a very wild imagination so. Definitely a hard life though.
Ward is a hard man.
Thank you for this video i was asking for it for a min🤟🏼🖤💯
"like that bear from Revenant" sweet baby Jesus that is one of the best things I've heard a fight description a long time!
Watched the first fight live on accident. Watched the next two live on purpose. For all fight fans, both boxing and UFC, occasionally...very occasionally...there are match-ups that transcend sport and look like a movie. This was one of those.
One of THE BEST FIGHTS I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! R.I.P. Arturo "Thunder" Gatti!
13:44 ".....as soon as the swelling went down" that shit had me rolling! 🤣🤣
Me to lol
20 years today 💪🏽 top 5 best fights in boxing history
This is the best boxing channel of all time! The content, the quality of everything, the information….. top of the line channel man!!! Keep up the great work
Gatti and Ward, A DOG OF A FIGHT 👍❤️
In fight night round 3, ward was one of the guys who were tough to beat, especially when you set the difficulty to legendary
I can’t even comprehend how tough these guys are
Thanks been wanting on this one 🔥🥊
No problem. I hope you enjoyed the video.
Great memories of watching this trilogy! True warriors 👏🏾
Augustus was one of the Goats. Pure love for it.
So glad Gatti got into the hall of fame. Not the best boxer by any means but one of the toughest, bravest and most fan friendly fighters ever.
Ward vs Gatti 1 is still my favorite fight I've ever seen
GREAT JOB! The Gatti/Ward trilogy is as good as it gets.
YOU CAN FEEL THE LOVE FOR THE SPORT AMONG THOSE TWO.JUST AWSOME!!!!!!!...
YESSS FINALLY MY FAVORITE FIGHT EVER
*THIS TRILOGY WOULD NEVER FORGOTTEN!!*
The Irish v Thunder trilogy still gives me goosebumps. Fights like these are why I love this sport so much.
Mickey litteraly was a brawler. Dude talks about CTE and stuff on Tysons podcast. It's really interesting stuff he spoke about how blows to the head effects you
Blood, sweat, and tears, embodied.!
"After his voice getting raised in octave" Bruh!!! that is hilarious
These guys are unbelievable
Lowell, Mass REPRESENT!
U can never take this away from these 2 so glad they got there moment
