- Railroad Crossing With Norfolk Southern & CSX Trains, Rail Close Look, John Deere Tractors Horn Salutes, Intermodal Trains, Coal Train, Steel Coils Train, Railroad Switching Local Freight & Trains Coming Around The Curves. 7 Trains In Carlisle And Franklin, Ohio. These trains are on the CSX Toledo Sub and the Dayton District. Includes a short clip from my Street Running Trains play list that I am pushing. These trains were filmed on a beautiful, sunny Ohio day. Great weather!
I was at one of my favourite railroad crossings behind the Carlisle Police Department. A few of us railfans were enjoying the weather and hoping for some trains. I think we got very lucky. I have filmed here quite a few times but today I tried for a few new angles. I got a couple of trains coming around the curve to the south of the crossing. This is my first time to get this shot. I also got a good angle of a southbound train coming around the curve heading toward Cincinnati. I got in the back of my truck to get a higher view. That one came out excellent as you will see.
This video shows a loaded CSX Steel Coils train and an unloaded CSX Steel Coils train. The Norfolk Southern local switcher that passes us had just come off the Franklin Industrial Lead and was headed toward Dayton. It had another customer to switch near Miamisburg also. Notice we got a wave from the conductor!
I was able to zoom in with my camera to get some views of the rail. We see the sides of the rail from the NS and CSX main lines. One company that rolled the rail for CSX I had never heard of. I also filmed a couple of John Deere tractors going over the railroad crossing. They gave me a horn salute! Was that cool or what?! The best frequencies for this area are 160.230 for CSX and 160.980 for Norfolk Southern. I don't use the EOT frequency here. I was talking kind of low a few times so that I didn't mess up the other railfans videos. The video also features the Live Action Pets and the slide show that comes from the video.

You may want to stop in Lebanon in the next few days if you head towards Franklin soon. They have cleared the trees and brush to the old railroad bridge and you can see the train easily now. The bridge is near the end of its service life and should be replaced with a bridge after the last tourist train in a few days. This is a major commitment by the LM&M Railroad and City of Lebanon and granting partners to preserve this operation well into the future. Thanks

There is a norfolksouthern yard in onita Tennessee and one in Chattanooga spring city tn is a great place to film trains
Assuming no changes, I believe Saturday 23rd was the last scheduled holiday runs with the final
Final train leaving at 8 pm.

You always remind me of the crew on Petticoat Junction. Charley Pratt (Smiley Burnette) was the engineer of the Cannonball, and Floyd Smoot (Rufe Davis) was the conductor. Floyd took over both jobs when Burnette died during the 4th season.

I enjoyed this video of your railfanning day at Carlisle, Ohio on 15 December 2023, Jaw Tooth! You caught a nice variety of trains. Plus, you received a horn salute from two of the drivers of the John Deere tractors that crossed the railroad tracks while you were railfanning. I wonder where the tractors were going. It seems to me that the harvest season would be completed before 16 December 2023.
Thank you very much! I don't know where they were going but there are a lot of farms mixed in with the residential area. Maybe they had to disk up the soil somewhere or take them to storage. Anyway, thanks for watching and commenting Thomas!

Actually, I forgot to tell you, we live in Bryan, Ohio. I'm a retired Law Enforcement officer. When you did the segment on Deshler, that brought back memories of when I assisted the Secret Service guarding President Reagan on his Whistle Stop Tour. I believe that was 1984. Also, Bryan was one of the places the Jet train went through in I believe 1966.
Awesome! I bet that was interesting. I was just looking at Bryan on Google Maps. I see they have an Amtrak stop and an industrial spur that goes through town. I think I remember the Jet train. Is that the one that is at the Illinois Railroad museum? I think it was silver if I remember right
Lucchini RS is an Italian steel company. Makes an assortment of railway products, including rail.
It's ridiculous that we import steel products.
They have plants around the world, those rails probably came from the North America part headquartered in New York. (According to Wikepedia)

Just checked and Luccini is an Italian company with a global presence. They have a railway division that produces rail and wheels.

That high pitched drone that sounds like angry bees seems to a characteristic of those rails you pointed out in the video. It seems to be present only when the trains are bookin'. I think that sound was used in the movie War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise. You can hear it when the burning passenger train goes by them at the crossing before the river sequence.

Those are rolls of steel sheet. They're called coils and those are coil cars.
