That was at the Circle B Bar Reserve ranch in central Florida. That place is really awesome. It is a huge park with all kinds of wildlife. The gigantic lake there never has a boat on it and alligators are everywhere. Last year Jackie counted 21 of them floating around while we were on a long wooden platform that goes out into the lake.
Welcome to Lakeland. My hometown for almost 50 years. Thanks for posting us. I record the trains through here all the time. I'll also go up to Dade City and catch them. Once again, thanks for putting our city on your radar.
Good Morning JT & fans from England The Amtrak locos were beautiful can tell they are new. Some warm Florida sunshine will do you good JT. Fab video loving Amtrak! ❤🌞🏴
I love the wildlife shots! Alligators are cool, but so scary at the same time. It looked like Norfi was chilling and enjoying her vacation. 😊 Great video JT. I enjoyed the trains and the new scenery! Thanks 👍. 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Another awesome video JT and we also have one of those new Amtrak engines on the crescent that runs from New Orleans Louisiana to New York City New York and they run it to Atlanta Georgia every day and turn it around on a Y and head back to New Orleans that evening I know two of the engineers that run it and they said it will do every bit of 125 miles an hour and I ask one of them has he had it up to 125 and he said oh yeah especially when they’re making up time. Lol
Very cool. You see a lot of the Siemens Charger locomotives in Chicago, where they power the trains going up the Amtrak Michigan Line at Porter, Indiana, which is their high-speed line. I've never run, or been in one, but I saw them all of the time during my railroad career. Pretty neat and always lit-up very brightly. Lots of teething problems, which hurt their reliability, but they have mostly ironed them out. Excellent video.
Great to see the train in Lakeland Florida, the new Amtrak trains, Norfie and the Train Dogs along with the rabbit and the gator Thanks Jaw Tooth.🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲💨🤎🤠👋🐶😺🤎
Thank you for the birthday shoutout, Jaw Tooth. Also, when I was driving to see my friend in Napoleon Ohio yesterday, I seen a train in the distance and the locomotives were BNSF. I hope you and Mrs Tooth are having a wonderful vacation ❤
hey JT , all that scrap that was piled high and overflowing is destined for a Nuccor Steel mill, they own David Joseph scrap Co. and their 3 rail car reporting marks are shown below: DJPX JOSEPH TRANSPORTATION, INC. (DAVID J. JOSEPH CO.) - DJRX DAVID J. JOSEPH CO. (JOSEPH TRANSPORTATION, INC.) DJTX DAVID J. JOSEPH CO. (JOSEPH TRANSPORTATION, INC.)
Good morning from Down East Canada, aka, New Brunswick, JT. That 1st train was billed as the heaviest train to hit the grade... and as politicians like to say, it brought receipts. Amtrak locos looked pretty nice. Thank you JT.
I just love the new Amtrak locomotives. They look so good. Looking forward to more Florida videos. Always something going on in Florida. Great video. Have a nice day 😊🌈💞💞
Beautiful area Jaw Tooth. My wife and I really enjoyed this Sunday morning video with our coffee. Hope you and your wife had a great time. Hope you guys were able to check out the Parksdale Market. They have the most amazing strawberry shortcakes. Happy Sunday..
That CSX train had that DPU howling along the tracks - a very nice sound of power! Amtrak gets some cool technology. I saw a pair of these that were configured for overhead power the other day. Probably expensive, but darn good looking :) And - that quad gate looks intimidating - LOL! I would be worried whether I was in the right place :)
Without really knowing whether or not the boxcars and the tanker cars on that first train were loaded or not, just seeing how many cars were full of rock and scrap metal made me appreciate how much POWER those locomotive engines have !! Wow!
It's possible to tell by looking at the truck springs. A loaded car will have them squashed to the point that there's almost no space between the individual coils. JT sometimes points this out. A fully loaded car can be between 263,000 and 286,000 pounds. If you add up the figures on the "LT WT" and "LD LMT" markings on the car, you'll come up with one of the two weights listed above.
Wow! That was an excellent NS mixed freight JT! It had lots of stone and lots of scrap metal that could have come from a machining operation. Or it could possibly have been imported for steel making. I loved the stainless hoppers with the blue ends! I've never seen those before. Very long also, which is awesome. Great catch! 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
No machine shop would generate that much scrap! Those cars are loaded with ground scrap -- basically, they put it through a big machine that grinds it into baseball-sized chunks. As you say, it could be imported, or it could be that there's a steel mill nearby, or that all the regional scrap yards are feeding their scrap to the same area, so it all gets concentrated on the one train. Given the number of DJsomethingX cars on the train, the scrap's destined for a Nucor mill somewhere, but they're the biggest steelmaker in the USA, so that doesn't narrow it down much.
Hi Jawtooth from 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧. Love the videos your trains put ours to shame. Love the new Amtrak locos. Keep em coming. Has Norfie come along too??? Bet chessie and Locki wanted to come as well!!
Awesome train 🚆 video from Brian. I hope that you are having a great vacation in Florida. I loved the new look of Amtrak engines. Many thanks for sharing your videos. Greetings from Virginia. 😊

This is my home town where I was born and raised. I left for college and never moved back. It'll always hold a place in my heart. I also spent tons in time in Mulberry aka bone valley. Tons of great rail action there.
I have watched your videos for two years now in Eastern North Carolina . I like your introduction the best Roaster.. I really miss shoestring as we all do
That rooster was a good one. I hatched him. My daughter has chickens. I have one hen that lays about 5 eggs a week. Shoestring was a great person and I really miss him also. We were going to make a bunch of videos this year
Just like some of the mega trains up in Kentucky or coming into Cincinnati. Since we can't ship anything to Cuba all of the broken awnings golf carts corroded sprinkler systems plus autos and appliances have to leave Florida Northbound and it's headed for electric Arc furnaces in Alabama and South Carolina. Sad to say with all the Hurricanes that in itself generates a lot of scrap every time. Just like Florida the average age of the passenger cars and Freight cars was up there. Also aggregate is also one of the biggest tonnages shipped in the state and some of those cars were filled to the brim and then some. Time to enjoy a little warmth and a change of scenery.
Welcome to Florida tooth! Lakeland is The spring training home of the Detroit Tigers,a team I have followed from my youth! Seen some Tropicana box cars!,from my side of the state!

And you're right, I think those shavings were definitely piled much too high in those gondolas. Great video as always , and yours is one of my absolute favorite railfan channels.
Thank you for this first railfanning video from your recent vacation to Florida, Jaw Tooth! The CSX train at the beginning of this video was a long and heavy train. Judging by how hard those locomotives where working on the first train and how much scrap was in those gondolas were carrying, that train was way heavy. Impressive set of new Amtrak locos as well. i 'd guess a large amount of railfans stay at that hotel because of the great view. Great video JT,
Very cool! We saw them. I have some video of them. I noticed that they added to the walkway out in the water and the power plant tore down two of the stacks.

Hey, JT - looks like very pleasant weather in Lakeland. That first train has to be one of the longest you've ever filmed. Right, those gondolas were dangerously over-topped. Great to see those new Amtrak loco's and see some of Mrs. Tooth's work. Thanks for all the details about these trains in your write-up. Stay well.
A bus terminal can be found a couple of blocks west of that crossing on the north side of the tracks. There are people currently trying to get SunRail to expand service south and west along the Carters, Lakeland, and Tampa Terminal Subdivisions through Lakeland. If they did, they'd have to move those signal boxes and close that walkway between the train station and bus terminal, which would suck.
Good Morning JT & fans from England ❤❤❤🏴
