You replaced the veneer where most wouldn’t have bothered. For that, vote 1. Awesome job
I had to fix it.....
@@3x3CustomTamar If I had tried to fix that I would have made it worse. I still would have tried of course.
@@3x3CustomTamar if you left that I don't think anyone would have noticed(other then your ocd) :')
@@TheSc00tz It's not OCD, it's called craft(wo)manship!
@@3x3CustomTamar My grandpa used to say ''Ess ejaal' ess för andere Lück' which means something like ''Doesn't matter' is for other people'
You took the trouble to fix the mistake! I would have lived with it and ended up wishing I hadn't mucked up. Beautiful sunburst pattern, BTW. Great idea!
Thanks so much! I couldn’t leave it like that. I wouldn’t be able to sleep for the rest of my life! 😂😂😂
@@3x3CustomTamar I liked it just the way it was before you "fixed it." There is beauty in asymmetry. The Navajo, when weaving blankets or baskets, would purposely include a "mistake'" in their patterns.
Same here... Great save!
I'm glad you fixed it
@@3x3CustomTamar I came to realize that the thrill of ignoring a booboo is short-lived but the disappointment of having imperfect work lasts forever.
"Eat my shorts." Love that you left that in there. Your kids are cute.
😂
That's one of the most beautiful guitar's I've seen, seriously, and by far my favorite on the Great Guitar Build Off 2020 challenge. Cheers!
So awesome to hear! Thanks!! ☺️☺️
OMG your design sensibility is pure art.
☺️🤘
Well, honestly this is probably the best entry I've seen so far... great job!
So awesome to hear! Thanks!
Tamar, you are a true craftsperson. Every time i watch this video i'm impressed. Thank you for sharing.
So many things about this one. The build, the editing- the details! You care about the details and it shows. Fantastic! Thanks for giving this build so much love.
So glad you liked it! Thanks!!
I've been following this channel for quite awhile (and all the other contestants as well), and I have to say for a build by a non-luthier, this is an amazing guitar that will give everyone else in the contest a run for their charity money!
That’s so awesome to hear thanks! I was definitely up against some steep competition
+1
Love the routing jig with the piano hinge. I'm going to build one of those.
I built one after viewing Tamar’s vid. So so handy and simple to use. ❤️
Same for me...
Same
The classiest cleanest build of the competition. Beautiful work, congratulations!
Thanks so much!
This model you created is so unique and beautiful!
Congratulations on your fantastic work!
Thanks so much!
Really admire your dedication to do things right, beautiful guitar by a beautiful person - you're a class act!
I have to say, this is one of my favourite looking guitars in this whole build off. Great job 👍
That’s really so awesome to hear! Thanks!
I have to agree
@@georgedeconto9599 Me too. To me, this sunburst guitar is the most beautiful of the lot, Ben's is the coolest, Matt's is just insane. The others are nice, too but these three stand out for me. If I had the money, I surely would bid on Tamar's and Ben's guitars - and I don't even play guitar.
I agree. I had a quick look at the images of most of the others immediately after watching this video. I'll have to watch the build videos before I know for sure, but as it stood in the wee hours of the morning (Singapore time) Tamar's was looking the best. Though, I am intrigued by a couple of the others too.
What place? Dammit, that was such a sweet and original job, can't believe didn't place higher.
Hey. Quick thought from a guitar player and woodworker (that has never built a guitar). Kudos for fixing the 'mistake'. I didn't ever see it, I just see hand built wonderful. I love your work. Thank you for sharing it with us
Tamar you have the best videos. The timeline was seamless even during the hiccups. I really dig the sun burst with matching cavity cover. Your woodworking skills really show off in that creative design. The body and neck have a incredible unique shape and look fantastic.
So glad that you got the tone test on camera. Im sure the other guitarist that you feature on the channel would of been overjoyed to see and play this. Best of luck at the auction. This is hands down my favorite of the bunch. Cheers!
That’s so awesome to hear! I had a lot of fun designing and creating it. It was really fun to see it come to life
Beautiful guitar, extra credit for your repair of the veneer symmetry.
Thanks so much! I couldn’t leave it like that....
I agree! Lots of people would’ve just left it. Looks pretty.
What a lovely person and so humble about her talent and ability. It’s refreshing to see someone not full of their own importance 👍👍
☺️☺️
That's the classiest damn guitar I've ever seen. A work of art.
I teared up when I saw this guitar. It is a profound work.
Thank you for your generosity.
Wow. So awesome to hear. Thanks!
That’s a lovely looking guitar, well done.
Thanks so much!

Screw falls out of the router - "Hmmm, that's no good". That's something I'd say after the bit went flying through the workshop and lodged in the wall. Awesome build there Tamar, almost looks like a piece of furniture and too pretty to play.
Haha yeah, I was like.... hmmmm how did that happen.... thanks so much!!
I was impressed you got it cut perfectly after that part fell off! Oops!
“It’s always exciting when the Spider-Man towel comes out...” lol
Good lord, that is absolutely gorgeous! The curves, the textures, the patterns, it all comes together with such a mature artistic quality.
Thanks so much! So glad you liked it!
I really like how you fix problems on the fly, and how even mistakes don't stop you creating something truly brilliant. Thanks for the vid.
🤘🤘
This is one amazing guitar.
I got really sad about your mishap, and then you redone the wrong bits.
Wholesome move.
This guitar is simple, yet classy.
aaaand it has funky shape, pattern on top I've never seen before and coil splits.
So it's classy and complicated in really tasty ways
Congratulations!
Thanks so much! I had a lot of fun figuring out how I was going to pull it all together. And the coil splitting! Watched a TON of videos to make that happen. Ha
This was honestly the most beautiful guitar of the contest. Shame it didn't win.
I LOVE that router edge guide jig with piano hinge. Brilliant. I'll have to make one of those. Thanks!
You definitely don't shy away from difficult ideas. The build is awesome. Outstanding work.
Thanks so much! I do love a challenge.
I love how you tackle any challenge head on!!! And you’re don’t mind to show folks you’re little mistakes.. Like we all make ... Nice Job gorgeous!!!
Thanks so much!
For what it’s worth, my ranking in terms of preference to own personally…
Guns N Guitars - that headstock!! And nice wave!
…tied with 3x3 Custom - super clean straightforward build. Nice shape and top!
Crimson - outlandish awesome, but I’d never go on stage with it.
Texas Toast - amazing look, but breaks your back.
Know Your Gear - ? haven’t seen final, but I like the PRS shape and expect a great finish
Big D - I don’t do Teles, nice finish, but I’m not into chevron flames either.
Angove - popping grain!, but shape hmm. And pickguards don’t connect smoothly.
Diresta - maybe with a smooth gloss finish and the original burnt look underneath. How heavy is that thing anyways?
I haven't gone to auctions to see the price, but after watching videos, I think the two I'd bid on are 3x3 and Guns and Guitars.
Before this contest I'd never been to either channel but I was immediately in awe of the skill and craft(wo)manship with the wood in this video that I had to subscribe.
The only thing I got from the Diresta video is that he sell's jeans for $180 a pair... what a shite guitar
Fantastic! Thanks for being part of the GGBO2020. It is so much fun to watch you all. Beautiful guitar, just fantastic. Love the control cavity cover! Even the best luthiers make mistakes. Great luthiers know how to fix their mistakes. You rock.
Thanks so much! This has been such a fun experience!
This is the winner in my eyes. That sunburst just draws you in, mesmerising! Your attention to detail gives Ben a run for his money.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that!
"Uploaded 27 minutes ago"
This is why I stay up late.. :D
Haha!
16:35 no drill press made me anxious as hell 😂😥
Best build I've seen so far! Good luck in the competition!
Thanks so much!!
You and Big D guitars made the best two ive seen so far. Yours is a work of art. Love it.
Thanks so much! ☺️
Wow, I can’t believe you actually went back and fixed the veneer mistake, hats off to you! I looked in the description but didn’t see it... do you have a link for the 1/2” 3 TPI resaw blade? I have the same bandsaw as you and I had a 3/4” resaw blade but it damaged my tires, looks like you had good results with the 1/2”. Oh, and obviously the guitar came out beautifully! As someone else said, I didn’t really see the vision you had for the sunburst until it was really complete and... WOW.
Thanks so much! I don’t have a link but I got it from highland woodworking. It’s called the woodslicer. It’s a great blade
3x3Custom - Tamar thanks, literally on the computer right now with a few different ones in my cart!
Nice save! I would have had a lot of audio censoring to do if that was me.
Hahah! Oh there was a bunch of that!
That round over @ 17:06 on the veneers is a difficult but satisfying effect. Congrats on such an incredible effort and result. Proud of you!
Thanks so much! I had a lot of fun with this one
I saw your 3 string guitar build. I loved the top you made. This is even better. Really great stuff. Well done
Thanks so much! So awesome to hear!
Not only builds a cool guitar, but plays it too. A renaissance woman!
Haha I wish I had time to practice and play better
Amazing veneer save. Beautiful guitar. Glows with the love and care that went into making it. Bravo!
Thanks so much! So frustrating when it happened. Glad I was able to figure something out!
This is my favorite of all the GGBO entries, and I'm glad I subscribed!
So awesome to hear! Thanks!
Wow. One of the most stunning in the comp. letting the wood speak for itself. Well done!!
Thanks so much! I love showing off the wood grail like this
That is beautiful! It sounds perfect! I think it says a lot about your devotion as a craftswoman that you did the job right and fixed an error that many would have left. I have such respect for you and your work. Thank you for all you do!
Thanks so much! Leaving it like that would have kept me up for the rest of my life. Ha
The guitar is beautiful...and so is your smile, confidence and optimism!
☺️☺️🤘
Having seen them all, I genuinely think yours is the best! Great job!🤘🏼
So awesome to hear. Thanks!
Great job and love the video walk through of the build. Good luck on the contest!
Thanks so much! It was just fun to be a part of it
i love how you use the different woods for effects! and your videos are on my list to learn different joinery methods..im glad the build-off brought me to your channel
So awesome to hear! Thanks!!
I'll never be able to afford any of these magnificent guitars but that doesn't stop me from enjoying or appreciating the skill and artistry in creating these fantastic works of art. Kudos to all of those that participated in this build off...
It was really awesome to be a part of this all!
Ay, caramba! That’s an awesome creation.
I love the way that despite the huge amount of work you put into these projects, you always make it all look so easy.
Haha! Thanks so much!
I'm in awe of the skill level demonstrated here. Wow! Awesome job!
Thanks so much! ☺️
You really did such a fantastic job - from the aesthetics to the quality of the build. My favourite so far.
So awesome to hear! Thanks so much!
I know this is late, but I went and looked up the other entries in the build-off and wow... yours was without a doubt the BEST guitar in the competition! It really hits that 70's summertime vibe that I love. Awesome work!
Thanks so much! Yeah! I was going for a psychedelic feel. Glad it came across!
8 hours after upload and bidding is already over $1000! That is a beautiful guitar, you can tell a lot of love and effort went into it and I'm sure raising a looooot of money for charity is going to be just the first step on an excellent journey for it :) Great project, and great video!
Thanks so much! I feel so honored that I was able to be a part of all this awesomeness
I love this design plus the skill and creativity that has gone into this. I learn so much from your channel.
So awesome to hear! Thanks!
This is definitely the best entry yet, I adore your work. You’ll be a master luthier in no time!
Thanks so much! ☺️☺️
I appreciate that you share your mistakes - not only do you show a great example of how to correct an error, but you model a GREAT example of how to treat yourself when a mistake is discovered.
Oh this one tested my patience for sure! But we all make mistakes! It’s all just how we deal with them
This is gorgeous. This is what attention to details produces.
Thanks so much!! I had a lot of fun with it
Been looking around on the official site, Ben's, Derek's, TT, et al. You are getting a lot of love (deservedly) from the community for this build. And you're so (relatively) new to this. I imagine great things are coming.
☺️☺️☺️
Just finished watching "What tools do you need to start woodworking" then watched this one. I didn't get a chance to see all the Great Guitar Build Off videos last year but relaxing enjoying some today. I wish I had a mentor like you when I was starting in woodworking 50 years ago. Your method of describing things is very understandable and your processes are very methodical. I enjoyed watching you learn while undertaking the guitar build (specifically the veneer, and plugging and re-drilling the output jack - like I had to LOL) as I myself have had a baptism by fire in the last few years - having woodworking experience but not as much guitar building. I am finally making guitars I enjoy playing but it has taken a while. I cheered as you completed the electronics and they worked, and clapped as you played the guitar through the different pickup positions. I would definitely ROCK the sunburst guitar you built. I am glad there are people out there like you, Ben at Crimson, Matt and Chris at Texas Toast and so many others that are willing to share their knowledge and spend the time to bring great information and entertainment to a world hungry for a way to spend productive time. Thank you so much!!
So glad you like it! Guitar building is addictive!
Excellent! Great recovery from the inevitable oops. I'm glad you took the time to replace the veneer. It's a wonderful looking and sounding guitar. Thanks for the video!!
Thanks so much! I could not leave it like that... it was frustrating while it was happening. But so relived when I fixed it!
That’s a beauty, the shape, functionality and the sunburst pattern are great!
Thanks so much! I had a lot of fun with it
Well, this is straight up bad ass. I'm just a little bummed I didn't see this until now. All of the makers in this contest did such a great job. I'm with every one else here who said you did the right thing to fix the "Mistake" that most of us wouldn't have even know about. First class job all the way.
Thanks so much! This was definitely a good time
Beautiful! Not sure if this is my favourite guitar in the competition, but this is definitely my favourite build-video and maker. Amazing work!
Glad you liked it! Thanks!
I feel like I'm echoing the same feeling going by previous comments, but this guitar is my favourite build by far. I would be drawn to picking this guitar up every day. And your attention to detail is really refreshing. Awesome.
So awesome to hear! Thanks so much!
Wow, I wasn't expecting this to be my favorite build of them all. Fantastic job
Thanks so much! Really appreciate that!
Вот это женщина, сама делает, и главное как, делает и играет, да это называется без слов одни эмоции, это писец молодец, умница и красава, особенно цвет мне понравился, оказывается без лакировки гитара вообще отпас очень даже красиво смотрится.
I love natural wood guitars over stained and painted and and what you built is amazing the colours and choices of woods on the top are sublime. As for your accident you were a true professional you just fixed it and made it look easy so we could all learn. You're a true master
Thanks so much! I love being able to showcase the beauty of the natural wood. So happy I was able to recover!
I'm most impressed by your ability and skills in the shop. The beautiful veneer work was well executed and I love that you didnt compromise your vision in the process. Your vision is truly unique :)
Thanks so much! I had fun with this one
Beautiful guitar, I love its shape, overall very pleasing looking guitar, one of my favorites so far.
Nicely done on the Great Guitar Build-Off and the amount raised!
Thanks so much! So awesome to be a part of it all
Very nice job on the guitar! Just found your channel and look forward to watching many more. Your videoing method is very informative and gets right to the point without dragging on. Thanks for the nice work👍
Awesome to hear. Thanks!
Wow...great job. That was a gutsy move to correct the pattern. Beautifully finished.
I had to fix it. Ha
The fact that you made the repair speaks volumes about you and your work ethic. I'm highly impressed! You earned a subscriber. I don't subscribe lightly... for what that's worth.
Really appreciate that ☺️☺️
Well, on one hand, I got your auction into 4-digit territory. One the other hand, it's now beyond my reach :) GREAT job, Tamar! This build has a very elegant design. Can't wait to see what the final bid is!
Thats awesome for the charity! Not so much for you. Ha! Thanks so much! I was just happy to be a part of all this
That turned out fantastic!..Even more so when your kid said that it looks like the sun is exploding!!! Job well done! Now make one for yourself! I hope you had as much fun building it as I did watching it come to life!
Thanks so much!! I loved that she said that! Gave me energy to keep going! Ha! Loads of fun
Great build Tamar! Thanks for sharing your bloopers and your triumphs. There’s always something to learn and some inspiration to take from your videos.
Glad you like it! Thanks so much!
I love that you went for Classy and not Crazy! Between all the the other guys burning and cutting up their guitars, you stand out by turning yours into a Stradivarius! Supremely well-done!!!
Thanks so much! I wanted to make a guitar that would actually be played and enjoyed by somebody. ☺️
I know this video is older but damn! This is a beautiful guitar!! Great work! And those tones are *chef’s kiss*!!!
This guitar is BEAUTIFUL! Good luck in the competition.
Thanks so much!
It looks fricking great.
You're very skilled at building this stuff.
That logo in the fretboard is really intricate to do and you did it perfectly.
Thanks! But I didn’t do the logo on the fretboard. Crimson did that part
This looks and sounds beautiful! Good luck in the auction! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much!
You Rock Tamar. Glad to see I am not the only one that will not sleep ever again if I don't fix something that I had in mind. Also the countersunk holes for neck screws made me think of my first guitar build. Thought that was an great add to the guitar. Awesome job as always. Keep on rocking it.
Yeah.... that would have bugged me for life!!!
"i know who i want to take me home." lol. nice.
that's a beautiful top. watching you fix that mistake was definitely a highlight to this build. no doubt someone would have noticed that like a week after they got it and never been able to unsee it. that was a great patch.
Haha it had to be done.
This is by far the most beautiful that I have seen.
So awesome to hear! Thanks!!
I think that's the most beautiful looking guitar out of the lot. Absolutely gorgeous!
Thanks so much! Appreciate that!
Your spouse has to be the luckiest person in the world, woodworking and music...total package! Nicely done.
I’m pretty lucky too ☺️
The control cavity cover that matches the top of the guitar... A+
I thought that was a fun little touch 🤘☺️
Fantastic video and what a lovely looking guitar, it shows a great attention to detail throughout the whole of the build, and I can see how justifiably proud you are in completing it.
Thanks so much! I had to say goodbye to it today... it was a very sad day
Great job Tamar! So much fun watching your process from scratch to finished product. Glad you picked the big ash block ;)
Thanks so much! Hah! It was so fun to create it
What a awesome job ! I wasn’t halfway through the video I had to share it with my daughter. you are very inspiring thank you.
That’s so awesome! Hope she liked it! 🤘☺️
I love the way it’s shaped watching these builds make me want to make a guitar
Thanks so much! Careful. It’s addicting.
simply beautiful ... of course no more than the Luthier who built it.
Brazil loves your videos
This is more than a guitar, it is a work of art. Great job!!!
Thanks so much! ☺️
Congratulations on a beautiful build! Your creativity--both in the design and the problem-solving--is so impressive. Hope you win!
Thanks so much! Appreciate that!
This is quite possibly the coolest woodworking DIY video I've ever watched. Amazing!
So awesome to hear. Thanks!
Hats off for actually taking the time and fixing that little mixup!
I would have probably just let it be and lived with this "happy little accident",
but you just put in the effort and did something about it,
plus, you did so efficiently!
I couldn’t leave it like that...
what a beautiful guitar, i'm just learning to make them but thanks to this i decided to join the community section of the GGBO 2023 (yknow, the chill, free part of the ggbo, I'm glad they added that). I hope you make one this year as well!
Awesome. Have fun! Wish I could join this year. Too much stuff going on with my new house
Really wanted to like Ben's the most, but yours is hands-down my favorite! Love the veneer pattern and the body shape. Well done!
So awesome to hear!! Thanks!!
Looks awesome I love the different types of woods. Different colours Add so much to the overall look
Thanks so much! So fun to create
