Excellent Q&A! Was just visiting and your name came up when discussing the latest issue of Fine Woodworking Magazine and your adjustable router table fence article. I mentioned that I followed your channel and then spoke about the things that have struck me over the years. No heat in garage, amazing power lift router table, your problem solving skills and jig designs!!! Someone pondered why you would have such an expensive router setup but no heat, and I didn't have an answer, now I do:)! Most important tool that you couldn't live without, ALL-THINGS-ROUTER, infrastructure of shop not conducive to heat or running high powered machines, and you're willing to be patient to get what you want! Outstanding!!!

Just so you know, I appreciate when you show your mistakes because it makes me realize that it's ok to do that. Too often project builders were just show it as if it was a blink of an eye and done. I find it never works that way - ever. So thank you for taking the courage to do that and what you do. You humanize woodworking. That's why I love your channel - that and DIY Huntress because she also humanizes woodworking.

I'm so glad you didn't change the name of your channel. It's perfect! I wish you could teach me how to build a 6-string bass guitar for my daughter. I'm a working mom with more woodworking tools than time. But I don't have a jointer, planer, or CNC.

I really appreciate how that you leave at least some of your mistakes in your videos. It shows things to look out for and that it is a process that you are learning from. It also appears that you are confident in yourself enough that you don't have to try to make yourself look perfect. It's why I, and I think at least some others keep watching.

The transparency of this video was amazing. I told myself I would watch for 5 or 10 minutes but here I am 38 minutes later. You answered so many questions that I had about starting a channel. Thank you for all the hard work and sacrifices you make for your family. Your need for privacy is admirable. I've been a long time subscriber but this is my first time commenting. I can't wait for the next video!

@@3x3CustomTamar I’m really private too which made the whole video really relatable for me. 38 minutes felt like 10. I could watch you talk about wood for an hour easily. Lol. I know it’s weekend hours so have fun with the family. I really wasn’t expecting you to respond so quickly 7 months later

Thanks for all you do. Appreciate the transparency in your videos and your problem solving approach to working thru a project. I, too, have moved on from frustration with mistakes to dealing with them as just a part of the process. I had a college professor say once that “confusion [read mistakes] is the state of learning”. I didn’t really grasp this at first, but I do appreciate that and it’s the challenge and problem solving part of woodworking in addition to the creativity outlet I enjoy the most.

The other night I was talking to my daughter and our conversation was around tools... she is her fathers daughter... she is doing over her kitchen all new cabinets, knocked down a wall and expanding the kitchen. Then we got into where to buy tools... and which ones are the most important to have, the biggest bang for your buck tools... it was a very interesting conversation! Also, she has 9 kids, full time job and home schools and she has more energy... I put her on to your videos. I found this very interesting how you got started, now... I understand why your videos are so well put together, probably why you're one of my favorite woodworkers! Great job, keep up the good work... another morning coffee video for me! :)

Thank You, your video was very refreshing to see and hear. The fact that you value your family and their privacy was priceless. People tend to forget that even content creators are not perfect in what they do. I did some professional work in video a number of years back, and when I thought abour recording some woodworking projects for youtube, the amount of planning and time involved to do so was tremendous compared to the actual build. I respect your honesty and transparency with your process, and I have learned alot from what you do. Blessings to you

I really appreciate your thoughtful approach to social media and family. It's important to establish professional boundaries, especially when your profession is so personality-driven. My wife and I are also 100% of the same thinking as you, with regards to kids on the Internet--we don't put our daughter's face out there and won't until she's old enough to understand what that means and make decisions for herself.
You're a great inspiration to all of us!

And the primary reason I started watching, and continue to watch is the fact that you're using tools that are accessible and affordable for most of us who might be on a limited budget. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and also for the candid nature of this particular video.

About failures: Yes, I love it when youtube woodworkers (and others) show their failures. BECAUSE I want so see how they deal with it / fix it / make it work. Shit happens to me all the time and I learn most from other peoples oopses and their fixes. Please keep showing these.
