Thanks I figured it wasn't good enough for like taking body temp or anything. Bought to measure the temp of my transmission pan for future fluid changes. Thanks for covering the basics and setting a good idea of what to expect.

Thanks. What does the 12:1 ratio refer to as they also sell a 20:1 model?

it refers to the size of the measurement and the distance from the object, if you are 12 inches away, it measures a 1 inch circle (rough shape), if 24 inches away away, it measures a 2 inch circle, at 144 inches(12 ft) away, a 12 inch circle, so the higher the first number, the smaller the area being sampled, so a 20:1 at 144 inches(12 ft) away measures a 7.2 inch circle, Thanks for subscribing!

Temperature of boiling and cooking things… Making yogurt- candies- candy thermometer that doesn’t fit the container- frustration! At a specific temperature something must get done… This is perfect… Don’t have to worry finding a thermometer that fits…

Can I check how cold is my car a/c?

you can point it at the air vents and get a close idea, I do this in my house to check how the AC is working - it will work just as well in the car - let it run for a few minutes as the laser has to hit something, and you're just as likely taking the temperature of the vent itself, thanks for subscribing!
