Faces lot of issues in Cheese Cake factory here in Dubai with Traulsen Stand Chiller / Freezers and Cold Rooms but you are right they long last and easy peasy to maintain

I worked on some Traulsen's like that, once the control board relay for the compressor burned a big hole in the board.
If you can find those Traulsen control boards available to buy most of the time they are expensive.
I ended getting rid of the board and installing an emerson dixel universal control, and wired it to a 120v coil 120 v relays for the compressor and defrost.
Yeah the display on the Traulsen has a 12v harness to the control board and the control board sends power to defrost and compressor relay for the low temp ones.
They are okay, better than most, pretty sturdy, not bad to work on. I think the True reach ins from around that same time are better and easier to work on.

Start components were fine. You can hear the compressor start at 6:26 and how did you miss that giant chunk of ice on the suction return of the compressor when you first opened it up? The sensor was the real problem.
Yea, you might be right. that was a very quiet compressor. ice blob @ 3:55 tells u compressor was running & either over charged or evap frozen over.

Hey Dave, long time no comment. 1) Why leave that eventually, if not all ready, leaking line piercing valve on the system? Braze in some schrader valves at least. 2) I never leave a 3-In-1 kit on a system, always change it out with original start components. If it relies on a hard-start-kit to run, then the compressor is on it's way out. If the coil is frozen, I use hot water in a sprayer so as not to overheat the aluminum tubing and a wet/dry vac on the drain to capture the melt off. Just an FYI, the new Traulsen probes are the same as the old ones, but have different connectors. Also, the blue and green probes are interchangable, the only difference is the color of the wires. So, in a pinch, you can wrap a blue wired probe with green tape or visa versa to get the customer going. Just my opinion.

every time i take off those evap cover bolts from a traulsen i spray them with WD40 or PB blaster...they always rust out and then wont come off or strip out.
