  • Every dessert lover should once in their lifetime travel to Paris.
    Would you like to buy me a coffee?
    www.buymeacoff...
    And that’s precisely what I did. Here is my list of the best French desserts and bakeries you should definitely visit on your trip to Paris.
    Article with the map: www.timetodess...
    Choux à la crème at Popelini (2.4€) - Popelini opened in 2011, and it took its name after the Popelini the Italian pastry chef who worked for the queen Catherine de Medicis and invented the choux pastry. Rich with flavor and made with handcrafted ingredients. It changed my life forever!
    Chocolate Brioche at Aux Merveilleux de Fred (3.6€) - When you enter the Aux Merveilleux de Fred you instantly know that you are at the right place. The smell is just fantastic. These giant brioches are so fluffy and delicious that I wish they start making pillows like this soon.
    Croissant & Pain au chocolat at La Maison d’Isabelle (1€ and 1.2€) - La Maison d’Isabelle is the winner of Best Croissant in Paris 2018, and there is a reason for that. The best croissant and pain au chocolate I ever had! Just listen to that crunch!
    Mille-feuille at Carl Marletti (7€) - Carl Marletti was a long walk from my Airbnb but well worth it. You tell just from peeking through the window that these people take their desserts seriously. The specialty is the Vanilla Mille-feuille (‘thousand-leaf’), and it was spectacular.
    Chocolate-Pistachio Escargot at Du Pain et Des Idées (3.6€) - is a spiral pastry often eaten for breakfast in France. Its name translates as the snail. It is a member of the pâtisserie viennoiserie family of baked foods. The bakery is run by a passionate baker, Christophe Vasseur who went from fashion industry sales executive to THE Baker. The bakery is famous not only for its excellent bread and pastries but for its exquisite interior from 1889 as well.
    Paris-Brest at Jacques genin (12€) - This was one of the most expensive desserts I tried in Paris, but it was also one of the best Paris-Brest’s I ever tried. There are no desserts on display. You can order from the menu, and they will be freshly-prepared for you on order. Excellent.
    Eclairs at L’Eclair de Genie (5.9€) - You can’t visit Paris and not try Eclairs. One of the best places in Paris to get your eclairs is L’Eclair de Genie or ‘Genius eclair’. They are opened since 2012 and have now 4 shops around central Paris.
    Macarons at Ladurée (2.1€) - And last but not least you need to try some macarons. One of the best places to try macaron Is Ladurée. Ladurée is the world’s best-known premier seller of macarons. They have a 157-year history and sell over 15000 macarons every day.

      @@HarryPotter-pl2xu 😂 I'm sure it would have happened at some stage!
      Some of my fav were usually the boulangeries-patisseries types, where you're sure to get both bread, sandwiches, pastry (croissant, pain au chocolat, etc...) AND 'gourmandises' such as éclairs au chocolat, Paris-Brest, macarons and other naughty goodies :)
      This type of website seems to give some more details about it (sorry I haven't read the article, just trying to help a little): cooking-ez.com/difference-between-bakery-and-patisserie.php

      You have plenty around each corner. You have to try by yourself, some are better than others but you don't need to go the most expensive ones. Or once, to compare.
      There are about 12 boulangeries/patisseries at 5 minutes around my house. 2 make fantastic bread, 3 or 4 make fantastic pastries, all for affordable prices, and the other are really average. So, you have plenty of choice.

      Thank you. Yes, this is how I have understood how the French stay so slim. Compared say with the typical American diet.
      I love the fact the
      French don't deprive themselves having treats and they aren't avoiding fruit and vegetables or following keto diet which is so popular right now. I have no idea why more people don't look to the French way of eating/living rather than these quick fix weight loss diets, where you can't eat fruit or have carbs or milk and bread etc.

    • @coco6612
      @coco6612 5 років тому +32

      Beach Girlie yes definitely. we usually don’t follow specific diets, and the gym is not the most popular place to move! A balanced diet which includes fruits, veggies and bread is key! I am noticing how the Japanese diet is the same, including lots of fresh fish, rice instead of bread and plenty of veggies!

    • @elineplantier
      @elineplantier 3 роки тому +4

      @@crashcox Hello! As a french person, I can tell you we dont usually eat that, but it depends on your family, for some people, eating croissants on sunday mornings can be some kind of tradition! As for baguettes (bread in general), I know that when im at parents place during holidays or weekends, they usually buy it everyday (especially when my grandmother is around) but I almost never eat it on my own (but I absolutely LOVE it). As for the patisseries, its mostly a pleasure we like to have from time to time, and it can be because there is a birthday, you’re invited to a friend’s place for dinner so you’re bringing dessert (or inviting them at your place), family meeting or just because they are so damn good and you want to enjoy them😂

    • @elineplantier
      @elineplantier 3 роки тому +5

      @@crashcox Oh and for breakfast nowadays people are pretty basic, it could be bread (or toast) with butter, jam or something else like nutella, lots of people eat cereals as well, some like to have a savory breakfast, some just dont eat any breakfast, there is no food rule on that, but the culture is that usually breakfast is about having something sweet. I personally dont really eat breakfast, but I enjoy both sweet and savory, but if I have time or want a breakfast, its probably be more savory than sweet.

    Just a precision: The Ladurée macarons you mention are now made in Switzerland and imported from there to France since 2018. It is a very recent invention which managed to become a fashion copied by almost all and every pastry shop. The real, traditional macaron is this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaron#/media/File:Macaron.jpg, made with almonds, sugar and egg whites, a crunchy, chewy and better tasting biscuit than the other, colourful disks. I definitely prefer the traditional one.

    This was a great video, informative but brief - thank you! Especially enjoyed seeing your different honest reactions to the food - not exaggerated for the camera like some other more established channels:) Would love to see the same for savoury snacks (eg. Delicatessen food, sandwiches, bistro food, cheese, etc), and maybe even meals at different price points.

    Going to Le merveilleux de Fred and eat a brioche, seams strange to me. That brand is well known for their "Merveilleux" (their speciality) which is a pastry made from meringue and whipped cream coated with chocolate flakes... You can find brioches in many places as their are (like croissants and pains au chocolat) one of the french specialities...
    Your videos are mouth-watering. Hope you had great time in Paris...

    I can attest to the beautiful shops in Paris. Each offering is presented with perfection and unbelievable richness and decadence. Those establishments that have achieved certification for perfection are the best ones to frequent. However, there are plenty of wonderful bakeries in France to delight even the most discerning taste buds.
