Terry Kath’s soulful and passionate voice makes the song for me
@muriel2267 1000% !
Terry Kath sings lead vocals on this as well as guitar solo
This is my favorite Chicago song -- MY GOD, THE ENERGY!!!
Definitely need to drop back and watch Chicago 25 or 6 to 4, live at Tanglewood
More Cicago, "Introduction" first cut from first album...!
Oh, hell yes. And "Listen", and "Poem 58", and "Liberation", and "South California Purples"....whole album is a hit.
My fav Chicago song!!!!
This is part of a seven-movement suite titled "Ballet for a Girl in Buchannon", on Chicago's second album. The record label at the time of the release in 1970 joined together the opening and closing movements, "Make Me Smile" and "Now More Than Ever" (a reprise of "Make Me Smile") to release a single of "Make Me Smile" that sounded complete. You should listen to the entire suite, which also includes Terry Kath's lead vocal on "Colour My World".
Chicago and Blood, Sweat and Tears were my favorite bands when I was in high school, 68-71. Danny Seraphine (Chicago) and Bobby Colomby (BS&T) were my two favorite drummers.
My favorite Chicago song is “Saturday in the Park”.
Killer track! Love Chicago
Great reaction 😃 Love Chicago ❤and the late Terry Kath, Chicago is also a great live band, recommend "Beginnings" live at Tanglewood and "25 or 6 to 4" also at Tanglewood Thank you Peace! 🙏
Wow!! Nobody does it like Chicago!! I got to hear all their wonderful songs when they came out they really touched my heart it really touches your soul
If drumming can be called happy, this is it!
No coincidence back in the day, many marching bands, high school and college, performed Chicago's greatest hits at football games around the USA. And there is no musical technology that can recreate what live musicians were pouring out from their hearts and souls. Can't wait to see your reaction to a band called Blood, Sweat and Tears. They were contemporaries of Chicago, great horns and soulful vocals.
Too bad the US is so bad now. I had to get out...Mexico is fantastico! Specifically, Puerto Vallarta where I reside. It's everything the US is not ..cheap, so friendly, clean, beautiful beaches and people! I pay about $600/mo. for a beautiful place! So venture out you guys. Oh and very lil violence and homeless!
My dad was a junior high band director for many years and once had his marching band play "Saturday In The Park". Great memories! He loves Chicago.
So much to love about Chicago…. Dig deep!
Funny you should mention marching. When I was in Jr. High, I was in a Drum & Bugle Corp, and we did this song as our "Concert" song.
When I was about 10 years old, I would sit on the Arm rest of my mom's couch. An air drum, the song over and over.
My favorite song by Chicago ! Please do BEGINNINGS next ! by Chicago
I had this record growing up!!!
Saw them in Columbus in the mid 70's. So fun~You have been playing all of these oldies, and I still remember the words to the songs - wow the nostalgia is crazy!
I saw them in Columbus in the 70's as well. It was after the second album came out, might have been the same concert? I think it was at Vets Memorial.
VERY likely! How weird would that be? That's so cool.@@ohfour-seven6228
My favorite is "If you leave me now"
The legendary Danny Seraphine on drums, Terry Kath (RIP) on vocals!
Beautiful Music
Terry was inspired by Ray Charles.
Definitely check out Introduction, the first track from the first album. It's mind blowing!!!
Try their Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is or Beginnings. Highly recommended.
I think the ending needs to be in a cowboy movie where the hero gallops in the sunset!
One of the most talented groups or maybe the most talented group to hit the stage!
Skip over a Chicago song? No way. Terry Kath on vocals and guitar. r I p
So funny you saying it reminds you of marching.. I was 13 when I bought this album (around 1972). Then later in high school, I got to play this song in Marching band circa 1974. It was one of the bands favorite, esp. for the drum section, yeah, played drums. I don't love what Chicago became after the Chicago X album...
Bro you're over the Target, yet again .
Early Chicago= cannot miss during the Terry Kath Era (Albums 1-7 especially) .
Couple Rad suggestions for you :
1. Sing A Mean Tune Kid .
2. What's This World Coming To?
* Appreciate your insight .
I like musicianship in my music. When it’s computer and drum loops it seems like crap, to me. Being a boomer is a lonely place.
