I just discovered Mr. Inbetween last week, and finished watching the last episode last night. Nearly every episode was a 10/10. No filler, no throwaway scenes or characters. Just perfect little episodes that flew by so quickly. My emotions were all over the place, in the best possible way. I think Scott Ryan would make a fantastic Joker, with that devious grin of his. I went to his IMDB page in the middle of watching the series, and I was baffled by the fact that he has only been in Mr. Inbetween and The Magician. Scott Ryan needs to be in everything.
He’s been shopping around a new, completed script. Apparently Tarantino and Bruckheimer have seen it. Helen Mirren signed him to her agent. Industry people know about Scott Ryan. There’s an excellent long form interview in the SMH. Searching “He was driving taxis in Echuca. Now Hollywood’s hailing Scott ‘Mr Inbetween’ Ryan” will bring it up.
God, I cannot begin to explain or describe how good the show is. Its even better as a native aussie. Its so authentic in how we talk to each other, the slang etc. The attention to detail is on another level. *** SPOILERS *** The farmhouse shootout for example was one of the best shootouts i have seen in a tv show. The fact that everyone wore bulletproof vests, given this they aimed at the shoulders and neck to injure/kill each other. If you look closely some bullets actually hit Ray's vest and the bullet fragments stay in the vest that can be seen. When some of them get shot its not an instant kill. And there is no stormtrooper aim. Almost all the bullets either hit the individuals or kills them. The way they handle the guns, the reloading. All of it top notch, so well done you just rewatch the scene multiple times. And if anyone else here. (Americans) want to watch more aussie crime dramas either films or tv shows. I highly recommend: - Underbelly (tv show) - Based on true events. Each season focuses on different time periods and based on different criminal organisations and gangsters. - Brothers in arms: Bikie wars (mini series) - Based on true events - Chopper (Film) - Based on true events - Animal Kingdom (Film) - Based on true events - Wentworth (womens prison drama tv show) Romper Stomper (film) Bonus: Wolf creek (film) - Based on true events of a serial killer and killings inspired by Ivan Milat The snowtown murders (film) - Based on a true story of a series of murders.
Yeah, fellow aussie here. How great was Ian Roberts performance. and the performance from guy that played dennis denuto in the castle. both brought a tear to my eye.

Mr Inbetween is the best show no one watched. It's perfect from start to finish and got to me in ways very few shows ever have. A+ podcast and thanks for putting a spotlight on the talented Mr. Ryan and all involved in the show.
There were far too many great shows so far to make statements like this. I mean this podcast is hosted by actors who played in one of the best shows ever. That said Mr Inbetween is definitely up there. Extremely unique, well played, fantastic writing...I'm really curious what we'll see next from Scott Ryan but I do expect a lot from him now.
As a fan of this show since it aired I want to thank you guys for getting it the attention it deserves! I have been moderating a fan page for it since season 2 completed. He is an absolute genius and deserves ALL the recognition he can get for this show!
It’s bizarre to me how many Australians haven’t heard of this show. I love nothing more than informing the locally uninitiated seeking the next good watch, then discussing the show after each episode (the feedback is always the same… mind blown). I couldn’t be happier that this show translated so well to international audiences. Everything about it sits true to the heart of every Australian. I stumbled onto this show a while back randomly through a reddit thread. Someone had posted the clip of Ray throwing that dude through the glass window and the comments mentioned the name of the show. I added it to a list and forgot about it. About 2 weeks ago I decided to finally watch it. I thought it would be some silly quirky Aussy show. I thought it would be my background show at the office. Nope. I ended up binging this show. At the office I ended up not getting any work done. I binged this whole show and it is EASILY one of my favorite shows now. I have to say, it is so well written and it ended so beautifully that if it didnt comeback, thats fine. But I welcome the ideas though for a potential future. Would love for him to take the footage of “The Magician” and combine that with original work to create a feature film.
Love Mr. In Between! Wish Scott would bring Ray Shoesmith back. Loved the way you brought realism to all aspects of the character. The weapons handling was superb and that Sterling was a great touch!
Just stumbled across this podcast. Great interview of Scott Ryan. You all did an amazing job of active listening and allowing each other including Scott to speak. So often interviewers are interrupting the speaker.I appreciate you so much for being gracious. Mr. In between was suggested to me because I’m currently watching The Old Man on Hulu. After watching the first episode of Mr. Inbetween I was hooked. I too love his face. It’s something about him thats dark, almost sinister yet loving and kind. His performance was amazing. When he would give off that sinister smile you knew what was coming lol! I also agree and thought to myself every actor on the show including the little girl were so believable. From the moment I started watching I wanted to go back to that world. I hope he is giving more opportunities to share his work. I love his humility. He seems so down to earth and grounded. He definitely is a gem I would love to meet one day.
Another just found it person. Blown away. Devoured it and bullied my most discerning viewing friends to watch it. Thank you for taking the time and effort to create this. Gratitude! Hope you find a good working balance and it that ends up letting us enjoy some more of your work we’re here for it.
Im really happy you got this interview. I dont know what it is about the show Mr Inbetween. There's just something about it and whatever IT is. Mr Inbetween has IT. 100% one of the best produced work on screen Ive seen.
this series was epic and scott ryan shopped this thing around for years but no one wanted him to star in the show as the lead but without him it wouldnt have been as good as it turned out!!! total master piece
I was just talking about I wish there was a season 4 of Mr. in between a few months ago. I was upset when season 3 ended. No it's time to rewatch the entire series. Great interview!
The love and reverence you three have for Scott is absolutely unbelievable. Great podcast. The warmth and welcoming made for a great show. I hope you have seen the film The Magician to see how the seed of Mr Inbetween came about. I've bought it four times, as it's a DVD you loan but never get back. Love your chat with Scott and your podcast.
Thanks so much for shouting out a terrific show. As an Australian ive been waiting for us to produce a show on the level of breaking bad, the wire, dare is say the Sopranos, and Mr inbetween finally delivered. Dim sims arent as bad as he made them out to be. They are great to pick up after a night on the town. And in terms of processed meat they're no worse than a hot dog.
I’ve watched all of those shows and Mr. Inbetween was the best. To me, personally. I was lucky to catch it when it first aired because I got to recommending immediately.
I am a late comer to this show, but it is so amazing. I have been bugging everyone I know about watching it. I binged it in a couple of days, and have rewatched it once already. I'm so bummed that my ride along with Ray has come to an end. Keeping my fingers crossed that as more people discover and fall in love with this show, that we will get a revival.
It took me like, actually a half hour to realize this is Anthony and Meadow soprano interviewing Mr Inbetween. I had just finished the show and this popped up in my reccomended, so i started listening, didnt pay too much attention to the video aspect, then i started to watch more intently, and i dont think gears have ever turned more slowly in my head. Finally put it together though, insane.
Thank you so much for interviewing Scott! This was great. I discovered Mr Inbetween a little late to the game, but thoroughly enjoyed all three seasons. Just got done watching it all again and you pick up new things, subtleties when you watch it multiple times. Again, thanks for doing this. I haven;t found many interviews with him and glad I found this.
I only just finished it myself. Wow. I can't wait to watch it again, especially to see if there's any tells in a certain scene in a cafe eating dimmis....
Thank you so much pajama pants ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️I will po Box an extra copy of his OG the magician movie from before the show! I'm happy in years TY TY😱😱my favourite pod & my favourite TV show MINDBLOWN🤯🤯

You know, If I hit somebody they Generally got it coming." #ABitOfThisaBitofThat #IDontAnswerQuestions #MrInBetween #ScottRyan
This is my new all-time favourite show. Only became aware of it recently, watched the pilot then binged the entire 3 seasons in 2 days. Meticulously written, ultra natural dialogue, every cast member is spot on and the stories are just brilliant. The fact that Scott Ryan is such an unassuming nice bloke, just made it a whole lot better. Top man!
Dimmy's are DIm SIm - just fyi lol. Awesome podcast ep, thanks so much for acknowledging such an amazing show (my favorite of all time). Well done Scotty, onya bloke!
This is awesome just started watching the show FINALLY last night. Now I’m on the last two episodes. This show is great. Run time is little short but when you’re binge watching it’s great!
as an australian i can safely say this is the best media to ever come out of our country mr inbetween is a 10/10 show lightning in a bottle and as sad as i am that its over and may never have a continuation im happy with how amazing those 3 seasons we got are.
Scott is a legit legend for creating this movie/show and specifically this character. Loved how down to earth he is, the humility is clear and present, especially when he was quietly fan-boying over coming on the podcast with Soprano cast members. I only just found Mr In-between but have since watched all 3 seasons as well as the feature length film. Absolutely phenomenal work!
As an Aussie I really appreciate you giving Scott some of the recognition he deserves, love your show. Have seen Mr In Between at least twice and Sopranos more again. Both incredible productions and a credit to all involved.
Mr Inbetween (the series) blew my mind. I saw one show and then had to get the DVD to bing-watched the rest. It's a show like no other. Serious heavy duty stuff yet too funny. Totally Australian in it's nuttiness, grit and logic. Brilliantly written, directed and acted. I laughed, I cried, I was on the edge with anticipation. I loved it. I worked in and around Kings Cross/ Darlinghurst (Sydney's under-world playground) in the 1970's for nearly a decade. I was an observer as a city council motorcycle ranger; and hey PJ Pants, it's hard to offend a genuine Aussie. Real Aussies are more thick skinned and openhearted than your average bear, so "no worries mate".
1:00:00 Dimmies (Dim Sims) were invented by a Chinese dude who emigrated to Australia and wanted something easy to make and easy to sell in his shop. It's based on an authentic Chinese dish but I don't recall what it is. AFAIK it's an Australian thing only but regarded as "Chinese food" in Australia.
41:00 Here's a plot for Season 4 ....."Ray quits his life of crime and hooks up again with ex-gf Ally who actually gave birth to HIS kid. (She lied to Ray when saying how many weeks on she was). The series premise would then be him resisting his old cronies and protecting his family. Got to find something for Gaz to do but we can't have him as an antagonist."
He appears to be struggling with the pressure of scripting everything himself so I think your instinct is great. Imagine if he threw the whole thing open and had the fans write the fourth season. Takes submissions from everywhere and everyone and then just strings the best of it together. It would work, it's just a matter of whether he'd be happy with that. It would be revolutionary television.
hm I know guys like ray (hard men not killers) and this seems a bit too perfect; it makes sense him and ally never worked in the end, she was not from that world and he was too much gone (too old to change his violent ways) as scott says in this interview him going abroad makes sense, he would eventually maybe flee his restrictive surrounding. but he could run into ally randomly as her new family vacations in th US for example. i like your idea of the kid being his, he probably lost touch with his daughter from the show having moved so this would be a new opportunity to connect to a kid. so the new season or the movie could be ray saving ally and her family or at least her and his kid from an accidental run in with local US crime gangs... likely screwing up whatever life he's build over there in the meantime.
I get recommended shows all the time and frankly, dont have the time, nor care about most of them. But Mr Inbetween sounds right up my alley. Considering my other favs are Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, first 2 seasons of Fargo and so on.
Ya man it is up your alley. I love that stuff. I’m trying to get my frigging brother and dad who love that stuff. The industry is so saturated that people don’t listen to Recommendations any more.
Every episode will leave you wanting more. Partly due to the fact of the relatively short runtime of each one, but mostly because of how good it was. It really is all killer no filler. Even the quieter moments are leading the character somewhere. The sense of dread and wonder of where it could go, given who he is and the things he's done, it's just brilliantly done.
I'm Australian and had never known about Mr In Between. Thanks for the heads up. Scott Mentioned Chopper Read, they made a movie about him called Chopper.
I’ve just finished watching it for the first time and I’m gob smacked. What great tv. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of it. This is one for the ages and Scott Ryan is a genius. I’m looking forward to seeing what he’s going to do next.

I love this show. It's my comfort show. (I know). I've even watched this interview multiple times. I wish you guys asked him about what happend to him in real life with the cab thing. Seemed like he was willing to offer up that information though it's kind of personal.

The magician is a feature film
@@sweendog52 It is a guerilla style film. Not a feature film.
Love Mr.
Just finished Mr.Inbetween. Gotta be one of my top 5 shows i've ever seen.
Simply incredible. Scott Ryan is so good.
This makes me so happy! One of our Aussie badasses :D
I love this! 2 castmembers of my all time favourite show talking with the creator of my current favourite show. Perfect.
Loved this show, last episode makes me so happy when they pan to his face.
You know he’s about to fuck some people up😂 great show, I just finished it🤟
Mr Scott Ryan I cannot express the magnitude of my gratitude for sharing your art with us. All best to you Sir I salute you
I absolutely loved Mr. Inbetween and really hope to see more from Scott Ryan.
Had a dimmy with my fish and chips tonight and it was delightful!
Looks like there's alot of us aussie pj pants lovers, so good to see Scott on here. Now we podd'n 👌🏼
Another just found it person. Blown away. Devoured it and bullied my most discerning viewing friends to watch it.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to create this. Gratitude!
Hope you find a good working balance and it that ends up letting us enjoy some more of your work we’re here for it.
Wrote it, Directed it, Stared in it, Produced it. What a guy! It's amazing you guys got him on!
Great episode. Scott is the coolest and Mr Inbetween is one of my absolute favorite series. Right up there with The Sopranos. Well done.
Exactly.. What do the "experts" know.. Look at Rocky also.. can you imagine anyone else being Rocky?
I was just talking about I wish there was a season 4 of Mr. in between a few months ago. I was upset when season 3 ended. No it's time to rewatch the entire series. Great interview!
The love and reverence you three have for Scott is absolutely unbelievable. Great podcast. The warmth and welcoming made for a great show. I hope you have seen the film The Magician to see how the seed of Mr Inbetween came about. I've bought it four times, as it's a DVD you loan but never get back.
Love your chat with Scott and your podcast.
One of the best shows in television history. Well done Scott 👏
It's such a shame more people haven't seen Mr Inbetween, but it's cool that we found it.
This episode made me smile. Very Authentic 💜
Your New Zealand accents are great! 🙂
I knew it was AJ, but I didn’t recognise it was Meadow until I read this
Omg
Thank you so much for interviewing Scott! This was great. I discovered Mr Inbetween a little late to the game, but thoroughly enjoyed all three seasons. Just got done watching it all again and you pick up new things, subtleties when you watch it multiple times. Again, thanks for doing this. I haven;t found many interviews with him and glad I found this.
I only just finished it myself.
Wow.
I can't wait to watch it again, especially to see if there's any tells in a certain scene in a cafe eating dimmis....
Best series ever 👏 thank you Scott for this , really fresh , clever and funny
Mr inbetween is the best series ive ever watched, i cant get enough. Ill watch it again and again
Dave Chapelle of Australia is a perfect description. 😂😂😂
thank you
Your a winner max!
Thank you so much pajama pants ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️I will po Box an extra copy of his OG the magician movie from before the show! I'm happy in years TY TY😱😱my favourite pod & my favourite TV show MINDBLOWN🤯🤯
How these two individuals played siblings will always and forever baffle me also Mr Inbetween was a show and a half.
Scott Ryan rocks. Mr. InBetween was an awesome show.
One of the most fascinating, talented actors out there.
This show is amazing. Seriously one of the best I’ve seen.
I only found Mr Inbetween two weeks ago and have already finished all 3 seasons. Love it and I wish there was more. “yeah well I guarantee ya…they’ll fucking remember you now” "I wouldn't say I enjoy hitting people. You know, If I hit somebody they Generally got it coming." #ABitOfThisaBitofThat #IDontAnswerQuestions #MrInBetween #ScottRyan
Best Pod so far guys... I love Mr. Inbetween! Kudos!!!
Brilliant - cannot wait to watch! watching Station 11 because of you crazy kids. Thanks
Please, we need another season. I think the character of Ray Shoesmith is finally getting the recognition it deserves.
Top man!
Your best pod ever 👍🏻two of my favourite shows meeting up thank you
The world needs more Mr Inbetween !! Very few quality Aussie shows on tv, Scott Ryan is top draw, utter class 😎
This made me start watching the show and I’m loving it ! 🥺
Dimmy's are DIm SIm - just fyi lol. Awesome podcast ep, thanks so much for acknowledging such an amazing show (my favorite of all time). Well done Scotty, onya bloke!
Mr Inbetween was absolutely brilliant - absolutely fantastic! in all ways.
Best duo ever Ray and Gaz !!!
Mr Inbetween is the greatest show to come out of Australia 🇦🇺
Absolutely phenomenal show, can't wait to more or less forget about it so i can watch it again. Scott Ryan deserves to be a star.
I get recommended shows all the time and frankly, dont have the time, nor care about most of them. But Mr Inbetween sounds right up my alley. Considering my other favs are Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, first 2 seasons of Fargo and so on.
You're gonna love it.
It is literally the best show you will have ever watched. Give it the time you won’t regret it!
@@BigBaumer23Calm down, he just mentioned 5 of the best shows ever.
I'm Australian and had never known about Mr In Between. Thanks for the heads up. Scott Mentioned Chopper Read, they made a movie about him called Chopper.
Hey only just found it by accident. Totally agree fucking awesome seriously
We know
Chopper is referenced at least once in the show
@@ReanimatorsMutilations they were watching it at some point at his house
@@ConnorMcCartney95 oh yea the episode starts with audio from chopper and I was so confused
I’ve just finished watching it for the first time and I’m gob smacked. What great tv. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of it. This is one for the ages and Scott Ryan is a genius. I’m looking forward to seeing what he’s going to do next.
Dude Mr Inbetween is such a good show. Can’t wait for more from Scott Ryan’s future projects!
And I just found Pajama Pants because I was such a fan of Mr. Inbetween. Thank you so much for this interview. Loved it. Love you. Love everyone, lol

Great interview team, humble guest who made an amazing show
Love Mr Inbetween. Watched it 4 times already
As an Aussie, all I can tell you is that in the show is really how we talk to each other here.
I love this show. It's my comfort show. (I know). I've even watched this interview multiple times. I wish you guys asked him about what happend to him in real life with the cab thing. Seemed like he was willing to offer up that information though it's kind of personal.
Awesome interview with the elusive Mr Inbetween. Well done.
Sure I know well that Mr.Inbetween is a fiction caracter, but if this guy came towards me with that smile, I would back the f_ck off, LOL..!!
Barry reminds me of Mr Inbetween. Both are some of the best shows in the last decade
