“You actually mean that, don’t you?” That is where we see Trent completely thrown for a loop.
The greatest hair ever to grace the screen!
It was fabulous. As a woman, I was envious of that glorious mane.
Second only to Danny Rojas of course ;-)
hes gonna have to fight captain christopher pike for that one.
And voice too!
Can bet it's just shampoo, conditioner, and a hair dryer.
Great character. So well-written. He evolves a bit over the course of the series, but our understanding of him evolves even more.
Well put
Very well said
And even then he still feels like the same person. Great writing
Agree he was great
the episode where Trent follows Ted around for the day might be my favorite of the whole three seasons.
I think the ending part of that episode is where I really started loving the show.
Such a great character!
“I love our little chats” moves from sarcastic to sincere, and that shows his progression across the series. His dorkiness and excitement in season three doesn’t come from nowhere-he just covered it by playing the coolly cynical reporter, something he had been doing since the beginning of his career, apparently, as evidenced by what he wrote about the rookie Roy Kent. Being cut loose from The Independent and then soaking himself thoroughly in Ted’s influence allowed his true self to emerge. What Colin said about wanting his two separate lives to be one life also applies to Trent, but his separate lives weren’t about his being gay, but about his being a passionate person, not a hard-boiled cynic. His season spent following AFC Richmond allows that home life persona and professional life persona to merge. He becomes part of The Richmond Way, not just its recorder.
This was beautifully written!! I love it!
Great summary of the evolution "Trent Grimm" ! Your example with Colin being Gay was spot on, yes it was part of the storyline but represented a larger point that can apply to many different things in life. The show was great and cleverly written to deliver larger picture messages through evolution of each character's story: Issac becoming a leader and Roy gives him Captain armband, Sam realizing his status as a PL player can be used to address real things in life starting with protest and calls Nigeria Govt. corrupt plus his romance story, the Arc of Nate/Jamie/ Roy were all main storylines through all 3 seasons delivering many important messages, and Coach Ted Lasso himself hustling Rupert in Darts (Never judge a Book by its Cover or however you interpreted that) to addressing the important issue of Mental Health to name a few. Ted's philosophy "Its not about Winning and Losing, its making the players the best they can be on & Off the field" being said by Pep to Ted! The best Cameo in the show!
* I read they contacted Jose before he took Roma Job: It Would've been funny to see him come to give the team his trademark "You are to Nice, You need to be Assholes on field..." speech, Ted being shocked as its opposite of the Lasso-Way, but the writers could have made it really funny!
Ted?? Is that you??
Trent treats Ted as his dad after a bit, and he just wants to impress him. It's adorable
I know this video is about Trent Crimm
But the way Ted says " let em know coach " after beard yells " STRAIGHTEN OUT THOSE LINES " is objectively the most coach thing I've ever heard
Trent Crim, greatest head of hair in the history of fictional journalism.
Trent was the first person Ted won over in England
the scene with Roy and Trent making peace is one that stuck with me... the whole show was so well-written, and Trent developing was simply another element of it... Americans writing in the British subtle manner...
I seriously think they need to write Trent's book, but also make it a memorabilia item for us die-hard fans. When Ang Lee directed Sense and Sensibility, they wrote a book about the filiming, with all kinds of pictures and stuff. I wish they would do that with The Richmond Way. They could even title it The Lasso Way, since it would be about the show.
My favourite scene is the press conference after Sam's protest against Dubai Air. Once Trent understands what Sam is trying to accomplish, he asks a straight up question, seemingly setting him up, and Sam's simple "yes" gets the slightest of smirks out of Trent. It shows that despite his journalistic side that wants to dig for dirt, Trent also has a good heart. He's not really asking Sam if he thinks the Nigerian government is corrupt (he knows this already by reading in between the lines), he's saying "I'm on your side, if you go on record, I can help make real change."
My favorite Trent moment is the Sam presser. When Trent realizes what Sam is doing, he follows up to allow him to say exactly what he's going to say, knows it's important, and when Sam says that, yes, the Nigerian government is corrupt, he punctuates it. He knows Sam is going to get what he needed. Sam is going to get his platform to say what he needs to say. Not just from him, but from everyone covering Richmond.
The brilliance of this show was the evolution of every character. Ted’s summation to Trent to change the title because “it’s not about me, it never was” is so poignant. It was always about the players and about them being the best they could be, both on the pitch, as well as off.
This show will always be on my Mount Rushmore of TV shows.
12:01 Jamie (Phil Dunster) doing his absolute best to not break is so gd funny.
I think it’s pretty in character for Jamie 🤣
I love how the book at the end says "with a very brief foreword by roy kent"
that Mercedes is definitely Trent’s style. Fucking sick.
These characters are all so well written, besides 'Trent Crimm, Independent' that absolutely needs a spin-off, we may also have these: 'Dr. Fieldstone, Psy', 'Histories from The Crown & The Anchor' (Mae's Pub), 'The Higgins', and 'Akufo'...just to name a few...
One of the greatest characters ever put to screen.
The apology to Roy kills me every time ❤
Oh go on then!
I’ll rewatch Ted Lasso again….
Trent Crimm, independent. I always thought that the show was based on the book 😊
Great character and great actor. He was great!
That’s an interesting idea. I may need to watch again with that thought in mind.
Very clever of them to insert an ad break immediately after Roy screams "oy, listen up!"
One of the best characters in a perfect show!
I want trent to play Snape in the tv show
Well ... looks like I will be watching this series for the 5+ time.
we demand a spin-off series of "Trent Crimm, The Independent" :D
Jamie was embarrassed when Roy called him "such a child"
Trent has the greatest looking head of hair ever on tv
Roy popping off the balloon while Trent was trying to talk on the phone 😂
I really love this. It fills me with so much joy and hope that I can wish away the crap of the world as it is.
Great segment on Trent, my favorite character!
I love the car of Trent💪🤩
He did the one thing Ted brought up. He changed the title. 😭😭
I could do a whole show just Trent being Trent
I miss this show.
This would be such a great spin off series!
An independent series you could say
I would watch the heck out of it!
I like how Dad paid it forward to Trent when he was fired from his newspaper job. And he came to his work to do a book about Ted. Basically Trent sacrificed his lifestyle so Ted couldn't not help him and support him in his dream
Trent Crimm is pretty much the Harriet Jones of Ted Lasso
Best hair on television
its just such a brilliant show
Points for using Leonard Cohen 's Everybody Knows. Yay for Canadian content. The song was also used in the film Exotica.
And War Dogs...
Very cool, it was also in pump up the volume.
Father and son by Cat Steven's was a good choice too
And ZS’s Justice League
@@Qrown Been lsitening to it ever since that movie came out 🔥
Off topic but love that Danny's just the Whinnie the Pooh of people. He was already a goldfish before that mentality came up in the show
Always loved the coach beard stand-in at 16:55 too, so unnecessarily defines the show. Even through some heavy emotional stuff, you can always crack a smile. "Mucho, mucho joy"
He is such a great actor
Coach Beard finally let's go at the dance club, after an epic bad day.
Asking Trent what he loves hits so much harder after Season 3. Now we know why Trent hesitated to answer.
love the series
damn. i love this show so much. :)
Trent is great 😌
Worked his way up from that travel tavern. Well done Ben.
I’d read that book if it came out 😊
Love how at 12:00 you see Jaime trying to hold back a laugh.
He was great in a little show with Stephen Fry called Absolute Power
May a young Robert Redford portray you in a film..
I never hear a word that guy says , I’m too distracted by his barnet.
+1 for the slang ;)
I so loved this series. Why did it have to end?
I loved this show too. I’m just glad it went off before the quality went down. I didn’t want to be disappointed with staying to long at the trough.
"I just want you to like it"
A hint that there’s going to be a season 4 ???
FACT: James Lance is a hottie with hair full of body.
To my Ted Lasso fans across the pond "Gay Talese" is a sports writer in the states and openly a huge supporter of the Alabama Crimson Tide... And in hindsight it was foreshadowing to Ted's sexual orientation...
I looked them up after seeing the episode
Im confused, what does Gay Talese have to do with Ted's sexual orientation?
@@TheRealKSmith nothing I guess ?
How do you leave out the Julie Andrews conversation?
The unnamed Daily Planet reporter from My Adventures with Superman!
Didnt know starkiller drinks vanilla vodka
Bravi Butei!!
Its too bad Trent was not at the dart game.
The first season was so good, its a shame what they did after that...
Asshat
