This show deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Breaking Bad or Barry. Actors are all amazing, writing is flawless, directing is superb and editing pacing is immaculate. It’s a travesty that Nicholas Cassim didn’t win let alone nominated for an Emmy for his performance as Bruce. You literally see the subtle degeneration of someone suffering from MND each time he appears in a scene. This is as close to a perfect show as I’ve ever seen and each season just keeps getting better.
@@woodforthetrees3496 Fr just seen it last night pissed me off. Not because it ended but because it just felt forced on top of a good episode it just cut to the end
@@woodforthetrees3496 Mr Inbetween definitely has an ending and it's perfect! He moves away when the pain of losing loved ones finally gets to him. Then it ends with his infamous smile and we realize..... you can take the dog out of the fight, but you can't take the fight out of the dog.
I've only just discovered this person... I am absolutely GUTTED that Scott has ended the series. I am bereft :) Scott... if you're watching this... you re a genius. Thanks very much mate for the GREAT work. You should be REALLY proud.
With producers trying to squeeze out every last penny, so many shows are ridden into the ground. It's refreshing to see a creator willing to bow out while still at the top of their game.
I was disappointed to find out Mr Inbetween is coming to an end but season 3 so far is my favorite. Hope to see Scott Ryan in other films/tv. I can't really picture him playing a goody two shoes pacifist though hahahaha
One of the most brilliant shows of all time. I’m going to miss ray shoesmith. Can’t wait to see what Scott Ryan pulls out of his bag of tricks next and it could t come soon enough.
Just finished episode 8 and JUST WOW. I’ve been following this show since it’s conception. It’s so good that I was certain it was going to blow up, but it just flew under the radar. This has got to be the most underrated show on air right now. Anyways, I’ve always respected Scott Ryan as a great actor, but dam, after episode 8, my respect for his skills grew even more for being able to make a grown man cry.
I watch very little TV these days, but I've gotta say Mr. Inbetween is [IMO] the best thing I've seen, in all my 74 years. Even the way the ending leaves you thinking WTF happens next.
Scott, great guy, humble, talented and tenacious. Mr inbetween, Incredible series up there with Breaking Bad, you should be really proud of your achievement and I really hope to see what you do next.
Honestly. I watched the first 2 seasons in one sitting. Last season next day. Was best piece of writting and Acting from Scott. Best crime series to come out of our Country. Ray Shoesmith needs to be running our country.Proud be Aussie when you see brilliant pieces of writting like this.🇦🇺🇦🇺💯💯💯
Binged seasons 1 and 2 in the last two days - just a fantastic show and everyone involved deserves the highest accolades. Thanks Scott Ryan for giving us such a beautiful thing.
I seen a clip of this and thought I'd give it a watch and I'm currently on S1 E4 and it's fantastic. One of the best shows I seen in a long time in from England and have to say this is a great show.
its the hemmingway brevity of writing that makes this so superb. So much is shown and expressed with no exposition. Really smart. Natural conversation. A lot is shown emotionally in a tidy half-hour or so.
I feel quite pained that this is finished? I loved this series so much. Watched it all in two days. Scott Ryan you are an amazingly talented man. The whole cast and crew were just brilliant. I look forward to seeing where you go from here. Thank you Scott.
One of my favorite and often overlooked elements of Mr Inbetween is the dynamic use of "I'm sorry". It plays such a huge emotional role throughout the show.
The best show ever! Incredible and powerful, deep . English dont have enought words to descripe how great it IS. Cant wait to see new work! Please, dont make us wait too long.
How cool is this? Yeah it's some years later, I get that, but people supporting & spreading the word of an amazing show, the creator / lead guy totally engaged, and the whole thing just brilliant. Best wishes to all involved, going forward.
What an excellent interview/podcast. Another suoerfan here from Australia. We’re very proud of him and having heaps of great conversations with the American fans via Facebook. THE best show ever produced in Australia. Again, great interview. You asked the Q we all want to ask him. 👍👍
He literally just named 4 of my top 10 movies and ones that changed the way I see cinema. Pulp fiction, resivoir dogs, goodfellas and casino. They had a profound effect on my life and I reference them in my mind or audibly on a regular basis.
Just got up to zombie's being mentioned and I was fortunate enough to help film Wyrmwood, which was an absolute delight. The passion and effort from everyone involved was inspiring enough to get me to start my own career in video production. In saying that, Mr. Inbetween is hands down the best piece of Aussie cinema I've witnessed, and joins the top with Ritchie and Scorsese. The sticking point is the raw reality of every situation. I was left with the inspiring feeling that I could go out and film this with next to no budget. As long as you have a good plot with reasonable twists and development, provoking dialogue, and willing actors, you can make cinema history. PS I bawled my fucking eyes out at the S02 finally. Nicholas Cassim's performance was beyond incredible; relatable, real, raw. Just perfection!
I think the show ended perfectly and I commend Scott's discipline as a creator to know exactly when to put his baby to sleep. I have just binge watched the show for the first time, it certainly will find it's audience, this is a cult classic in the making. Much love form Celladoor in the UK. I shall be watching 'The Magician'. :)

I couldn't watch the finale in time due to exams but just finished it and boy am I going to miss Ray and everyone in that world. I really feel empty and don't think anything else would be as good as this show for a long time. There are great stories out there, but I feel like I have to dumb myself down a bit to believe that they are real and not just a story. A lot of the times it feels like there is some omnipresent God that is twisting the course of events just so something ends up happening in a poetic way or satisfies some trope. I mean, I haven't come across any other show that is as "real" as this one, where it's actually unpredictable what happens next and subverting expectations doesn't become an expectation. I haven't watched a lot of the popular shows, but will be starting with Boardwalk Empire next (which I saw on a reddit post where Scott recommended it to a fan in an Instagram dm), if anyone has any recommendations for shows that aren't very "tropey" and feel real, do let me know :) I kinda went off there and might be wrong about a few things but anyways, really glad to have found this interview.
