@@RevengeAvenger Bra boys are thugs from the suburb Maroubra (hence the 'bra') who deal in drugs heavily, but many individuals are known for their violence to the extent that it's likely that they engage in a decent amount of small-time non-drug related criminal activity. If someone associated with them vouches for you they can be really friendly and generous (with their drugs mainly; surplus coke, weed), in a very typically Australian way which you don't see too much of anymore, but you shouldn't let this fool you about them though; to outsiders their behavior can be morally abhorrent. I would get sickened hearing some of their stories when they were hanging out with my mate (the one connected) while I was.
Best Aussie series ever . Season 2 is even better than the first .... Ep 4 in season 2 delves more into the dark side .....with little humour ( about a man hiring Ray to find out what happened to his daughter who disappeared years ago). This episode is a masterpiece ....it stays with you long after it's finished & has you thinking ...as a parent how far would you go to find out what happened
What an episode ! Darren did you notice who the father was ? Tiriel Mora. Martin deStasio from Frontline. Darryl Kerrigans lawyer from The Castle. "Ahh its the vibe ... it s Mabo ... yeah but its mainly the vibe ... "
You got that right left an impression on me I'll never forget. Help get me off drugs when I was going through some hard times life better now but why did I have to take good shows like this away?
The ending was one of the most dramatic and emotional scenes in any movie or TV show I've ever seen. At first I wondered why it end there. Then I thought what would I have done.... yeah, you can't put that on a screen of any size. On the other hand The kitchen sink scene had me cracking up. Picture yourself walking the dog some night, and you go by the house of the known sex offender in the neighborhood and see that.... I'd stand and watch while letting the dog shit in his yard, _AGAIN._
It amazes me how much story and character they can push into 25 minutes but keep the pacing up to where you don’t realize how short it is. “Socks are important” felt like movie length, forgot I was watching a short ep.
Mr Inbetween was the best series I've seen in years, each show was packed with exciting moments and not knowing what is coming next. Sadly enough it was cancelled after the second episode. All of my friends and relatives also liked this show "BRING IT BACK Now".
Thanks for the clip. It was thanks to UTube that I found out about this gem and then got Disney+ for 6 months and watched the lot. brilliant. Coincidence of coincidences, I was out in Aus (Melbourne) back in March visiting my son and on the second day there. walking in a Garden south of St Kilda, saw Scott walking through the garden. Having shouted out "Its the magician" which seemed to please his companion, if not Scott, he looked at me, smiled with all those teeth and put his finger to his lips. Just as scary as in the show. Magic. Made my visit.
Man, I discovered this show the same way: seeing ads for it on UA-cam and whatnot. Decided I’d try it out, cause the concept is interesting enough, albeit not wholly unique. But holey moley, I’m so glad I made that decision. I binged every episode up to 3.07 in just over a week. I cannot recommend this show enough. From the acting, to the writing, and everything else, it’s as good a show as I’ve seen in ages. That’s not to say it’s perfect, but it’s quickly become one of my favorite all-time shows. The worst is when you find a show you love dearly, but have no one to talk about it with, because barely anyone’s heard of it. I’m glad to see everyone who has seen it rave about it, cause it’s definitely deserving.
couldn't have asked for a more fun ending. from the song choice, to the smile, and the looking at the camera for the first time, like he knew we'd been following him through the show. fucking amazing.
My number 1 series ever. It has everything. You will laugh, and you will sob like some Grandmother at points. Great action to boot. Plus, lessons in loyalty and principle. Just incredible. It gets better when you start to research Scott Ryan.
I don't care what people say. The actor/director basicly made a story about either his own life or some of his friends life. This whole thing is too real and genuine.
HE ACTUALLY WENT TO FILM SCHOOL AND DEVELOPED HIS OWN SCRIPT FOR HIS LOW BUDGET MOVIE THE MAGICIAN. IT WAS FILMED ON BY ONE OTHER STUDENT WHO ALSO PLAYS A PART IN THE FILM FOLLOWING AN EX SOLDIOER AROUND AS HE PLIED HIS TRADE AS A HIT A HITMAN AND A STAND OVER MAN IN NEW SOUTH WALES AUSTRALIA. THIS LATER BECAME WHAT YOU SEE HERE A MULTI SEASON HIT SHOW THAT LITERALLY TAKES YOU BY SUPRISE ON A CULTURAL AND SOCIOLOGICAL LEVEL WITH PLENTY OF ACTION ONE WOULD EXPECT FROM A GENRE AS SUBJECTIVE AS THIS. Just realised i had caps on.
AMAZING show ... watched, so far, seven times. Just something about it that captures you and keeps you holding on. A day in the life of... Such a brilliant show and best ending. HA! Ranks up there with Breaking Bad. Well done.
The second season, ugh. I teared up a lot. I want nice things for Ray and the shit just hit the fan this season. I hope he has a better year next season.
This is my favorite show of all time. I’ve rewatched it probably 3 or 4 times. It’s so authentic feeling and nothing ridiculous happens just to push it along it’s just realistic almost to a point. The soundtrack is stellar as well.
One of the best and classiest series finales of all time. So refreshing to not feel like the writers got bored at the end. Looking at you game of thrones, lost, dexter!
It is the best show I’ve seen in decades. I learned from this video that Scott Ryan waited 10 years to do it right and refused compromise - and it was absolutely worth it.
This show is pure gold. My brother took a chance on it out of boredom and recommended it to me. Now I’m the one who can’t recommend it strongly enough.
Brit here, clocked some clips on UA-cam, gave it a go on Disney+. By far the best thing I’ve seen a long time, just about to finish season 3, the stories are so compelling ( Brucey, dealing with anger management classes, his dad, coping with entitled dipsh*ts, relationships etc) you are rooting for what socially is regarded as bad man but know he truly believes what he is doing is the correct course of action. Sad to see it end, will have to hunt out The Magician. Thank you for doing this synopsis, made me grin seeing rays way of doing things again!
Can't say enough good about this Aussie series. I was lucky enough to stumble upon it years ago. Ray is a badass and a smart ass and flip the coin, a caring and concerned father to his daughter and his sickly brother. What a treasure this series is and it was a pity it was over so quickly. If I could grow another thumb it would be 3 thumbs up for Ray and Mr. Inbetween - lol
I live where a majority of the show is filmed like places ive been 1000s of times and its so damn cool to see such a good show take place where I grew up Really hope more people find it and it gets more seasons. I also suggest checking out Underbelly, its an aussie crime show similar to mr inbetween.
@@roccosiffredi8774 Underbelly stretches over several seasons and covers different states. It depends on which Underbelly you refer to. Personally, I thought the Melbourne series with the Morans was cheesy but I fkn LOVED Matt Newton as Mr Asia. That was a cracker of a season.
This is a banger, the lead actor is so authentic to his character it leaves chills down my spine. This is one of the best Australia production in a while, we want more pls
One of the best shows ever made. I got lucky and watched from the beginning and then went back to watch the short and then the Magician. Although it's over, I am eagerly awaiting Scott's other productions.
This show is so stupidly ignored, it's absolutely phenomenal, and I've never seen word 1 outside of searching for it, and it's one of the best shows currently on. It does this amazing thing where the violence is completely apathetic, it's just there, it happens, it's a part of life, it doesn't matter...then in one instant it switches around and makes it matter entirely ("Sorry. I gotta go".). And the lead actor is an absolute revelation as Ray Shoesmith, he knows all of his strengths, and delivers perfectly on every level possible, there's not a single moment where the screen belongs to anyone else. It's just captivating the way he reacts to the littlest things. If this show gets cancelled, it'll be one of the worst cancellations of all time.
I saw one article where it was mentioned. Back when it came out there was an article at the end of the year that was a "hit or miss first season shows" I believe was the name of the article, they said the show wasn't either a hit or a miss
@@stonerman2096 I would agree with this. I've watched a few episodes. It kind of just... exists. There's not much happening, it's pretty slow, but it's not a bad show 🤷♂️ so far
I caught this show late but damn it was really good and when I found it stopped after 3 seasons I was like, Whhhyyyy? lol all the best to Scott in the future.
A while back I watched Fargo, loved it, then Atlanta, loved it, and I started to give FX programming a very serious look. Mr. Inbetween piqued my interest after I finished season 2 of Atlanta, and I watched the whole first season in one sitting, staying up way, way too late. Season 2 of Mr. Inbetween was another all night session a couple days ago, ending with some puffy eyes. Its a fantastic show. On the surface, the show seems like it should hit all the standard antihero buttons, and it does, but it offers a little something extra along the way that sets it apart. For one, Scott Ryan is able to pull off intimidation scenes flawlessly, and the series uses it to great effect on several occasions. He doesn't have to do anything aside from give a guy that unhinged smile, unblinking stare and your skin starts to crawl in sympathy for his victim. See it once or 100 times, you know that stare, and it always means trouble. That person doesn't care at all if you live of die. You may as well be a bug, which is why that ladybug scene is significant. The bug is harmless and in need of help. The man has made horrible choices and hurt others. Ray holds equal weight for anything living, so what's the difference between a bug and a man? Are they not equally alive? He clearly has a moral code, doesn't kill for pleasure, and it's very possible an innocent bug with a few days to live, struggling to escape a drowning if worth a few seconds of his time, while a man burdened by a history of cheating and fraud is probably better left to rot.
JUST WANTED TO THANK YOU DAN... (incidentally now subscribed and 👍).. .. thank you for introducing me to this PHENOMENALLY written, acted and directed show. After watching this video back in February I watched more scenes on UA-cam then decided to start watching it on Prime.. and the fact that it's now over with all 3 Seasons fully ingested...I'm left wanting selfishly MORE as I feel like a family member or good friend is gone. Mr Inbetween was a trifecta: as it made me LAUGH.. WEEP.. CHEER. Rare for a show or film to have that kinda multiple impact. BUT MORE importantly it taught me certain aspects about life and what it means to be a man.. how to be a friend ...a good parent... and how to react when we fail at those endeavors. ALL THIS it taught me while never forgetting the fact what Ray did "for a living"... and how the kind of man it takes to do such vile things is formed WITHOUT blaming childhood events directly for this OWN evil acts. THUS his inner YING and YANG tussle... creating the conflict within him... i.e. THAT WHICH MAKES US ALL HUMAN. I can go on but I'll leave it to the modern Siskell and Ebert's to sing its praises better than I ever could. Thanks again Dan. I'll check your channel regularly, hopefully find some new gems. 🖖
This show is incredible. It gets way too many comparisons to Barry and Killing Eve but it stands on it's own unique ground. I really hope it gets a third season.
It's actually a great companion piece to Barry. That show is all about a man trying to escape his life as a hitman. On the other hand, Ray seems to actually enjoy his work.
Came across Mr Inbetween last week on Disney plus. I must say I'm really enjoying the journey with Ray and how he could get in trouble in an empty room. Well worth a look.
As an Aussie I have to chime in and say this is some of the best Aussie produced stuff I’ve ever watched and I am fussy about what I watch. I don’t just automatically like something because it is Australia. Scott Ryan makes it! That grin!
I'm American and I wish you guys made more gritty crime dramas like this, because you nail it a lot of the time. There's something very unique about your cinema and television that I love. Can't wait for season 3, which comes out on May 25 for you guys.

I am in Asia and saw snippets of this show on You tube and it caught my fancy. I ended up binge watching all 3 seasons ! It sure is a hidden gem of a series and Ray's character is awesome and the dude who plays the character brings so much to the character !
One of the best shows out there. Right now it's my favorite. Hate the fact I missed the first few episodes. Love the character Ray. He is so good to watch. Wonder how that stupid acting coach feels now. Everyone LIKE every UA-cam Clip about MR.INBETWEEN. I know their tracking how many ppl watch but let's do all we can to get another season. I haven't looked forward to Thursday night this much since Friends was running.
Weirdly I’ve only just watched it 2024. How I hadn’t heard of it before when it’s so damned good I don’t know. He’s as cold as ice, a ruthless merciless killer and yet you can’t help liking him. He’s a hit man yet he’s so relatable. It’s the little things mostly , everyday observations, the relationships, god you could rave all day about it. That mad smile, it’s up there with Jack Nicholson crazy grin. I love the guy and want to see more of him so spread the word to everyone you know!

I just finished season 3 and wondered if this was the case. I'm heartbroken but respect that they finished on a high note
He tied up the character arc really well. Impressive bit of writing.
While I appreciate ending the show on a high note, I can't help but feel a bit empty knowing there won't be anymore coming...

After watching season 1, read your comment in aussie.
I would have liked several more seasons but respect that we got the 3.
@@deanlaffan2390 Mora absolutely nailed his performance,
when he was telling Ray about the case, omg i couldn't breathe, So good.
@@rooster4429 The casting dept in MRIB has excelled themselves.
On the other hand
The kitchen sink scene had me cracking up. Picture yourself walking the dog some night, and you go by the house of the known sex offender in the neighborhood and see that.... I'd stand and watch while letting the dog shit in his yard, _AGAIN._
A brilliant show, smart, intelligent dialogue and a sympathetic protagonist. I genuinely can't find fault in it, brilliant!!!
It amazes me how much story and character they can push into 25 minutes but keep the pacing up to where you don’t realize how short it is. “Socks are important” felt like movie length, forgot I was watching a short ep.
This is one of the best series on TV right now. Great all around show.
This is the best show I've watched in the past years.
I was instantly hooked. "Socks Are Important" was intense.
Non-stop hold your breath tension! Best episode yet!

I saw this 2 years ago and was completely amazed.
I binged the whole 3 seasons a couple of weeks ago. I haven't done that since Breaking Bad.
Mr Inbetween is that good. 😊
The last minute of the last episode was hands-down my most favourite bit of television in a looooooong time.
100% 🔥
Mr Inbetween was the best series I've seen in years, each show was packed with exciting moments
and not knowing what is coming next. Sadly enough it was cancelled after the second episode.
All of my friends and relatives also liked this show "BRING IT BACK Now".
i hope ya didnt kick tha bucket m8 after ep 2
How was it cancelled after the second episode?
It wasn't cancelled..
I’m glad to see everyone who has seen it rave about it, cause it’s definitely deserving.
ep 9 tha grin at the end
Im doing a slow binge of this series. REALLY good.
One of my favorite shows. I recommend it all the time
couldn't have asked for a more fun ending. from the song choice, to the smile, and the looking at the camera for the first time, like he knew we'd been following him through the show. fucking amazing.
I have literally binge watched all 3 seasons like 5 times each! BEST Australian show ever.
I binged this show in like 2-3 days and I'm already hyped for a season 3. Such an amazing show I was hooked
I did watches the whole series in one night
Can re watch this show often and it never gets old. The best show to ever be produced in Australia.
My number 1 series ever. It has everything. You will laugh, and you will sob like some Grandmother at points. Great action to boot. Plus, lessons in loyalty and principle. Just incredible. It gets better when you start to research Scott Ryan.
A fellow WKUK fan! You’re a rare find. I’ve loved that show for decades!
It's one of my favorite shows ever. It's dark, hilarious, and human. Scott Ryan should be internationally famous.
Great recommendation, after seeing this video I decided to give it a shot- binged it hard and it became one of my fav shows.
Thank you!
This is the best show on TV right now. I hope it gets renewed for a 3rd season
My mate recommended this the other day. Guy is a real movie buff even has a degree in film production so what he recommends is often top notch.
I can't believe this Aussie show wasn't on TV and on fox , damn...
I don't care what people say. The actor/director basicly made a story about either his own life or some of his friends life. This whole thing is too real and genuine.
I was thinking the same thing lol Big fan
ALL I WANNA DO IS WATCH MR INBETWEEN.
I plan my work lunch schedules around airtime.

The second season, ugh. I teared up a lot. I want nice things for Ray and the shit just hit the fan this season. I hope he has a better year next season.
Yeah the last episode, his life just went arse up.
This is my favorite show of all time. I’ve rewatched it probably 3 or 4 times. It’s so authentic feeling and nothing ridiculous happens just to push it along it’s just realistic almost to a point. The soundtrack is stellar as well.
The last 2 seconds is the best ending of anything ever. Brilliant.

I watched all 3 seasons in a weekend. An incredible show and tour de force. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Needed to get to a comment section after binge watching two seasons. Such an amazing show. So glad to find other people who love it
One of the best and classiest series finales of all time. So refreshing to not feel like the writers got bored at the end. Looking at you game of thrones, lost, dexter!
It’s a bloody great show. So underrated.
It is the best show I’ve seen in decades. I learned from this video that Scott Ryan waited 10 years to do it right and refused compromise - and it was absolutely worth it.
Thanks for this, I'd seen it on the list of shows but never gave it a chance.
Great fucking show.
Mr Inbetween is one of the best, most interesting and original shows I've seen in the last 20 years. No exaggeration, so underrated, so good.
This show is pure gold. My brother took a chance on it out of boredom and recommended it to me. Now I’m the one who can’t recommend it strongly enough.
I've literally just watched The Magician, and I thought it was pretty sick. I MUST watch this series asap
Thanks for posting this is a fabulous series
Ray is fkn hilarious and criminally underrated. Amazing show.
I watched the hole series---For gods sake bring it back !
Only got put onto this show by a mate, never heard of it before, best series I've ever seen.
I live where a majority of the show is filmed like places ive been 1000s of times and its so damn cool to see such a good show take place where I grew up
Really hope more people find it and it gets more seasons.
I also suggest checking out Underbelly, its an aussie crime show similar to mr inbetween.

Is it Sydney or Melbourne?

Underbelly is cheesy
@@roccosiffredi8774 Underbelly stretches over several seasons and covers different states. It depends on which Underbelly you refer to. Personally, I thought the Melbourne series with the Morans was cheesy but I fkn LOVED Matt Newton as Mr Asia. That was a cracker of a season.
Excellent show. Highly recommended.
What made me subscribe was the "So the bees are dying. that sucks." LMFAO
It kind of just... exists.

Best show on TV today.
Yeah, this show is magic. One of the rare shows I have to watch every week.
Funny you call it magic.... have you seen it's predecessor? The Magician?

Hard agree.
I caught this show late but damn it was really good and when I found it stopped after 3 seasons I was like, Whhhyyyy? lol all the best to Scott in the future.
This was one of the best shows ever made. Absolutely love his character 👍
Waited every Friday night to watch this show can't believe how good it is. Please have season 3
🖖
wow THANK YOU!

That grin!
