I think at this point the band needs to be invited to perform for the jury so they can better understand the evening at the bar.

So this 30 year career police officer has a house he leaves unlocked, a German Shepherd (mix) that doesn't bark at an hour's worth of commotion outside his bedroom window, children and a wife that don't notice fire trucks, police cars and two ambulances outside the front door and NOT ONE of them hears an hysterical woman screaming at the top of lungs?
And the Best Friend who rolls up to the house doesn't go straight to the front door and start banging to get assistance? They have to wait for a patrol car?!
Oh I forgot to mention, according to his wife, their sons are too careless or lazy or distracted about hanging onto house keys and that constantly changing locks too expensive so that’s the intelligent reason they used to simply not lock the front doors.
Also, no surveillance cameras anywhere. Man, THAT is one secure man. He knows no one in that STATE is going to mess with this family.
Oh yeah, ETA, his ATF friend comes in last according to one person present, but gets there first and shovels the driveway with his big truck. Well, which is it? You know, for having been a snowstorm or blizzard conditions that night, there wasn’t that much snow on top of John’ vehicle or the SUVs in the driveway the next morning. For all the mentioning of how awful they expected it be and experienced during the collecting of evidence at 6:45 - 8 am, the photos taken later that day and the driveway video shows not much snow accumulation.

@@nicoljane3083 you might think this happened but the Man of the Castle said in court he took Chloe outside to pee and returned her to their bedroom upstairs. He ALSO testified that he escorted his good friend, the ATF Brian, UPSTAIRS to look at a photograph of their son in the Service. You know, where the dog who doesn't care for strangers was except she was safely locked up in his bedroom. Not the basement.

At the end of week 2 here's what stands out: Apparently the prosecution thinks this case rests on if it was snowing that night, when it started snowing, how much it was snowing, and what type of snow was falling. Apparently the commonwealth also thinks a leaf blower is a valid forensic tool, a neighbors red solo cups are forensically stable evidence containers, and a rolled up paper Stop & Shop bag in a vehicle bay counts as a secure evidence storage. As someone who knew nothing about this case and has only watched your coverage if I were a juror I'm not sure the prosecution can overcome the above issues to get a conviction but we will see...

The train noise regarding the dog was an interesting point, but... my dogs know the difference between a car just driving by/one of us pulling up in the carport(a word I'm now dying to hear one of these MA people say)/the Amazon delivery truck. They know what the neighbor's kids sound like when they're playing in the front yard vs someone walking by talking loudly on their phone. They know approx what time the mailman comes by and puts mail through the mail slot on the front door every day (though they still haven't figured out he's not comin on Sunday). ALSO, mine will grumble and sometimes bark when they see the flashy lights coming through the edges of the curtains at night (we live in a neighborhood with a lot of very old people currently. IYK,YK. check up on your neighbors please! even if it's just makin sure you see the kitchen light turned on/off every evening or whatever.). But some GSDs can be super chill. They don't always allow you to access your court notes during down time, mine were kept from me unless I was in the court room. The parties still have a long way to go one way or the other to prove either side to a jury, but the entire family rubs me the wrong way and the more they testified, the more likely it became that they could have been involved.
"no injuries ~at that time~" was an ODD way to phrase it. It was an unnecessary clarification that raises the question of "ok, when DID you see injuries"
The defensiveness and evasive answers about the dog

You can tell that the clan that was at the house the night Officer O’Keefe was murdered has rehearsed their story and rehearsed it. They are all repeating the same thing word for word and that’s not normal. For example like when they automatically went into detail why Julie drove over there in a supposedly blizzard condition.
Another part is I’m not believing that both the Alberts just slept through it all. Chloe would have alerted them. I mean who’s dog no matter what size or breed doesn’t alert them when the mail truck parks down the street, or that there’s a ups truck a few houses away?
It’s amazing watching the defense expose the liars who have taken the stand thus far. They wouldn’t be struggling on the stand if they were telling the truth because the truth is so easy to remember!

I don't believe the stuff about how long the nephew was there and when he left either.
And I don't think john had a problem with the kid's parents (sorry, I am forgetting names lol) but that doesn't mean the teen didn't have a problem with him.

They both seemed so uncomfortable with questions about the dog. If I had to rehome my dog to a place where they could have a better life without so many guests bc they have hurt other animals or people (referring to the documented bites) I would be so devastated. I would never refer to them as “the dog” or “it”. In this case it would be she or Chloe. I just can’t imagine talking about a family pet like this.

I wish I started watching you on day 1. You give fantastically helpful insights! I've been so frustrated with Lally and the Judge and now I'll know if my frustration is warranted or not.

If you have a reactive German shepherd, you don’t invite a rowdy group over to continue drinking 🤷🏼‍♀️

Not reactive to people…she clearly said other dogs

BUT, Chloe got put in the bedroom upstairs. So Brian says. And a super well trained dog can be absolutely fine unless someone in the family gets attacked, depending on the training

Still confused why she got locked up if she’s reactive to dogs but not people?

I don't understand why Lally keeps on and on about the waterfall - it seems to me it helps the defense.

Pausing at 3:24 to say that I didn’t even put it together that the dog was allegedly in the bedroom. Even with the fan I have running so I don’t hear outside noises, my dogs can still hear sirens on the street. My neighbor had an ambulance called for him and my dogs woke me up scratching at the bedroom door and barking and my bedroom is at the back of my house! Good catch by my fellow Law Nerd!
Edit: After looking at the photos of the house, my question is why, if Karen was dropping John off, would she have not dropped him off in front of the driveway? If there was no sidewalk, he would have to slog through snow to get to the door of the house and that makes no sense to me. Hopefully that gets answered at some point.
It seems to me that the judge would rather do sidebars with the attorneys than have what they discuss in open court for everyone to hear. That bothers me because it gives the impression that they have something to hide. First time I have ever seen that discussions with the attorneys aren’t in open court unless they are sidebars for objections.

The sirens didn't need to be on in deserted streets. Snow deadens noise

@@007nadineL snow dampens noise a little. Not that much. Seriously.
