The Foyle Showband are up and running again. They sound FANTASTIC. saw the in May, they closed the derry jazz & blues festival @ the city hotel, keep an eye out for them
I don't expect many people on here will remember the hay-days of the brothers Albert (yep, that Albert) and Jim Reynolds... I was an apprentice electrician in those far off days... and worked on the erection of all their ????land chain of ballrooms! from the 'Roseland' in Moate via 'the Dreamland' in Athy, The 'Jetland' in limerick... The 'Rockland' in Borris in Ossary... the Fairyland in Roscommon, back to the Longford Arms hotel... and several points in between... I slaved for 30 bob a week! and loved it! I managed to meet the Irish 'greats' back stage on all the opening nights... Clipper Carlton, Brendan Bowyer, etc. And all of that before I left Ireland at 20 years of age.
+john price How could they not remember. The Reynold family were just great and wonderful people for Ireland and the music business when there was nothing out there for the young people to enjoy or communicate with each other.
