if you whip the butter in the tub with a knife (I just cut it up criss-cross) before spreading it, it makes it easier to spread and ensures the bread doesnt rip easily when preparing

Isn't the entire point of air fryers that you can fry things without fat or oil? It seems to defeat the object to then drench your food in ungodly amounts of butter!
I experimented with grilled cheese sandwiches in my air-fryer but found the bread too toasty…I prefer buttery crisp pan fried (greasier fried crunch) - my next experiment will be Elvis’s fried peanut butter & banana sandwich.
I checked it after a minute and the top bread flew around. Lucky I had a food pick so popped one in and it worked fine. Had to flip it half way tho as top was cooking more than bottom. (using a new air fryer) Note to self: keep picks handy. Lol

Not everybody uses airfryers (which are just mini convection ovens with fast fans) to reduce fat, so no, it is not "the point" for everybody. I find it annoying that manufacturers also presume anybody making french fries in an oven wants them to be low in fat.

Many people will pan fry a sandwich, they want to replicate it in an airfryer. Not everybody thinks of an airfryer as some sort of low fat tool for cooking.

Whenever I do cheese toasted in air fryer I will put it on a piece of bake paper. Keeps the AF clean and ensures no cheese escapes.
I read this three times until I realized you use "AF" different than us millennials.

Well, the first try was okay. A bit too short, 5 mins in my airfryer (Princess XXL). Second one is being made, put the clock at 8 minutes.
How was it after 8 mins?

I put grated cheese on one slice bread but the air blew the bred on its side scatting the grated cheeseall round the fry. How to anchor it down??
Try to use the butter or mayonnaise in between to bond the slices of bread together
Buttering both sides is not necessary. Just do the outside.

I spread light layer of mayonnaise inside and out instead of butter.

How come the top slice of bread doesn't fly off in your air fryer? I have to put tooth picks in mine to keep it together
