I replayed back in July 2021 on the xbox series S in 1440p and the game still holds up fantastically and is a real blast to play. Absolutely give it a go again. Especially because with any luck, playground games will show off the brand new fable this year.
The game was my summer of 2010. I spent the whole summer playing this game and getting all the achievements. Best summer of my life in terms of gaming!
the fable series is a typical example of developers trying to fix what isnt broken, Netherealm studios are going through the same thing right now with mortal kombat, the constant rewriting of their lore and lack of legacy fighting mechanics is hurting their brand but still they feel the need to reinvent the wheel every sequel - in regards to fable, each sequel got progressively worse after the first, I still remember the impact the first game had on me as a child, I had never played a choice based adventure game like that before where my actions shaped the character, world and its people and I have never been able reach that level of immersion again all 20 years later, games like Red Dead Redemption, Elder Scrolls Oblivion and recently Cyberpunk 2077 game close because of their unique experiences but Fable was like nothing I had ever played before, it blew me away and still to this day no game has come remotely close to doing fantasy adventure choice based RPG as well other than Baldurs Gate 3but BG3 is more of an MMO than RPG
Played Fable Anniversary and instantly bought Fable 2. Haven’t gotten around to cracking it open with all of the recent game releases but MAN this has me excited lmao
This game blew my mind when I was a kid. So much to do, your decisions had long lasting impact on the world, the lore was interesting and unique! I even liked the 3rd fable lol very excited for the new game whenever it may come

Fable II is one of my favorite games and holds a special place in my heart. The exploration, the secrets, the music... it made me fall in love with gaming.
I hope they gave fable 1 a good playthrough, and understand what people want out of a fable game. I feel like the series got worse with both sequels, and I hope that trend doesn't continue.
Fable 2 is so fantastic. I want a port of it on PC so badly man. One of those cases where I am here willing to throw money at microsfot if it was just on Steam but they just are still not that great at PC support no matter how much they talk. I am really hoping they they remaster the trilogy and give it some love in time for Playgrounds Fable
I've seen people on the Fable reddit (I'm weird, I know) running Fable II on PC. I think if you buy Gamepass Ultimate you can use their cloud gaming shit to play it on a PC. Though, I too am praying for a remaster. I desperately want Fable 3 to get a remaster. Everyone hates it, but I can't help but love the game. Genuinely the only steampunk-esque RPG I've ever played, and I adored it.
@@rookiedrifter4273 Fable 3 would benefit greatly from a remaster. You don't need to tweak anything too major to solve some of the issues in the game (add in a health bar, warning before the 121 days skips to day of the attack, etc) and maybe up the saturation on the colors too because Fable 3 looks so washed out at times.
I really hope Playground embraces that Dickensian Christmas Carol art style that the older games had. It would suffer from a photorealistic reimagining. Keep that style, open the world and release around Xmas and it should do well.
Fable 2 was the first gaming experience I remember. I can see it now. Me sitting by my older cousin watching him play, and eventually letting me try. About a year later, i got my own 360 and it was the first game i asked for. Not long after that fable 3 came out. And i got to experience that on my own. Man those were the days!!
This was the first game I played when we bought an Xbox 360 (which also was my first console when I got 12 yo, used to play a few games on my parents' computer before). I'm really attached to it and although I guess nostalgia plays out, thus disregarding some of its bad aspects, I really love that game. I've been going back to it from time to time when I get hold of my 360 and it's always pure pleasure. There's something really appealing about Albion's universe which really is the definition of fantasy, with its haunting music and visuals (the lighting in this game) along with the very british humour. I really hope I can get back that feeling if they actually do a game in the next few years, I was sad to hear that lionhead went bankrupt back then.
Im surprised you didn’t delve more into the music, honestly this game was the height for the music, the battle themes slapped, the ambient tracks were so distinct and whimsical
I was a little surprised the guns didn't get a mention in this review. They were a real game changer for me. I wasn't impressed when I heard they'd be coming, but they were beautiful, deadly & really fun to use thanks to the detailed aiming mechanic. Plus, they had the best sound of any game of that era. The way they'd crack & echo thru the mountains & reverberate in dungeons & caverns was so sweet. Also, you didn't have to max out all your skills if you didn't want to. This not only changed your individual play style, but radically changed your character's physical appearance. My gunslinger build was a leggy, elegant femme-fatale & my mage looked like a being of pure light. One reason dogs are so omni-present in modern games is because of Fable 2. My dog was my best friend in that game, for good reason. My whiney wives & cherubs never stood a chance. ;)
Randomly had the urge to play this game after last playing it in 2008/9 and I was 10 years old. 23 now and this game is stands the test of time! My favorite in the series
I remember playing Fable 2 when my 360 Red Ringed on me. Great game and franchise though. I'm glad MS has since gotten their act together with their hardware.
I love so much about Fable 2. I think my favorite part is that, somewhere, you get to read thar the guild master from Fable was found dead with the words "Your health is low" carved into his skin.
To be honest, Fable 2 was my first fable and it was amazing! Beautiful and peaceful! When I was a young teenager I often get scared at the Hollowmen but then I remember it was in the game. I love it even tho it's an old game! Great video tho, keep up the amazing work! You should play the DLC for this game and fable 3! Highly recommend it!
Sorry that I don't comment enough but love these reviews where you go back on cool games, replay them and review them again. Agree with you on Fable 2. Great gameplay with not so great story choices but a really cool and for me addictive economy system taking over Albion
Fable 2 is SOOOOO good, I talk about it more than I probably should but I want more people to appreciate it. I bought a Series S just to play it again.
Fable 2 didn't have a pc port. So the physics and everything was tied to the 30fps frame cap. People on emulators have tried to run it at higher framerates and it just completely breaks the game.
Fable 2 is a game ive completed many times and still play to this day. I love visiting my Serenity Homestead and Bower lake. Ive given Millions away to new starters along side some mission items like Regal Purple dye or Crucible nuts. Its simply amazing game. In comparison i completed Fable 3 once.
I started playing these games at Fable 2 and I loved the game I still re play it once a year now in 2023 but in highschool someone said to me the first one is miles better so I bought fable tlc and not wrong that is one of my all-time favourite games even better then a game I loved so much I non stop played these games for years every choice bad or good until I got to fable 3 and it wasn't a bad game but it wasn't really good for me didn't enjoy the industrial age of fable the story and the enemies just didn't feel the same but still a great trilogy of games
fable 1 and 2 changed the game, glad i played 1 before 2 dropped so i could truly appreciate how crazy it is to deliver that much with that many expectations
Loved this back on the Xbox360 days. I really hoped to see the Fable Anniversary Collection rumored to come out soon (twitter thing about 🐔). But anyways I'll just play the backcompat version 😁
I love fable 2, it was great and the gameplay is unmatched. But it's insane how the last part of the game wasn't a boss fight and as epic as Jack of Blades was. Fable 1 will forever be my favorite.
There is certainly NOT a game like Fable…likely ever. Fable is such a unique and long loved experience that I feel like it’s hard to replicate. Something about the soundtrack of Fable 2 instantly transports me into the best kind of happy nostalgia. I’m so so so nervous for the new Fable because I fear it won’t be anything like the original 🥲
To me as somebody who grew up on fable 1 The hype leading up to fable 2 was amazing, Granted PM lied and promised a game 30 yrs ahead of its time, he infact delivered a game 15 years ahead of its time It's fantastic, if you dig deep you really can do anything
I tried fable 1 when I was younger and it was a clunky ass x and y spam sim If I give the the series another shot and it sucks (with me, having more experience and struggling way less with objectives) I will come back and sauté your balls.
@@Medroizz LMAO like a year ago I went to try Fable Anniversary and then in the beginning of the game I beat that guy in a race after trying like 30 times and then the game didn't save so I quit and vowed to never play it again because my beloved Fable 2 would never do that to me 😂😤
Excellent video, truly. Started watching when you were pissed about Elden ring not being released 😂 we are the same age and have played the same games as kids lol
Fable 2 is my favorite fable game..but yes it has a few over sight..the co-op exp oversight basically allows you to max out your character after 1 min of play...it's ridiculous It sucks this isn't natively on PC..I would buy a fable 1 2 and 3 bundle on steam ASAP.
The demon doors were my favorite thing about this game. Winter lodge was creepy and beautiful. "oh, I wonder if I can own this cabin!? FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF"
I remember Fable 2 being fun af. I tried playing a bit of it late last year. Times were simpler and I guess I was more lenient back in 2009 when I first played it 😅 I can still find enjoyment in however. Can't wait for your thoughts on 3, played that to completion last year as well and had some good fun. Not as much as I did back in 2010, but I was mostly coasting on nostalgia in that playthrough.
Cool review. Definitely looking forward to the new Fable. They should have used you on the cover of AC Valhalla. Never would have guessed you'd behave like Paulie in Goodfellas. Good for you. Lol, multiple wives and they can fight each other? That's hysterical. Also, that theme you showcased from the score, very magical. Looking forward to your Fable 3 review. Awesome video dude. Loved that theme.
I played Fable 2 and 3. I don't think I ever played the first. Fable 3 was ahead of its time. You could buy and sell property, the reputation system was amazing, the music was really good, you could start a family, etc.
i've never actually played the original Fable, but i really enjoyed Fable 2, Fable 3 had some nice things about it, but Fable 2, overall, was still better, though i agree about things like the story and ending being weak or potentially better. looking forward to your review of Fable 3 Matty :)
Questa trilogia e soprattutto questo secondo capitolo rimarranno per sempre nel mio cuore, è personalmente parlando tra i migliori giochi a cui abbia mai giocato in tutta la mia vita
This game introduced me to storytelling on videogames. This game impacted on gaming and more and I dream on it for a PC port. No remaster or anything, just want to play it again.
fable was and is in my top 5 favourite games I’ve played. And since I was playing just on pc I didn’t played fable 2, but now I just buy it an xbox series s and I can’t wait to play this beautiful game. Anyway I cant wait to be released fable 4
Fable 2 is one of my top 5 I've played it a dozen times or more. It's a masterpiece. Fable and Fable 3 are wonderful of course, I think Fable 3 gets a lot of undue hate, (perhaps some due) but Fable 2 is just so good.
That reminds me, I need to collect my rent from half of Albion. I wonder how much money I'll be getting after about three years.... My noblewoman wife might be happy to see me too, lol.
I dont know how young I was but I was young as shit I bought it cause I didnt have enough for fable 3 at the time and I loved it spent days playing when I didnt have to go to school
Xbox 360 was the last great Xbox console. I was never able to get into fable 2 because my Xbox got the red ring right after I got it and then the game kept freezing on my new xbox 360. Hopefully the platinum hits version ironed out most of the bugs because I just purchased it.
Great game for it's time. Great memories. Sadly, the fps and ice skating feeling while running makes it a hard replay in 2022 for me. I'd love to see it remasters and get the polish it deserves while waiting on fable 4.
As much as I absolutely love Fable 1, Fable 2 is my jam. I find it a bit more Unique in its setting than Fable 1. Or more like it actually evolved and grew the setting to be something more than just 'another medieval fantasy setting'. The kind of 15th-18th century vibe where you have Guns as well as Sword and Sorcery was really cool and something you didn't see that much back then. Fable 1 still has the best story and the best villain. But Fable 2 has the best setting. And the best gameplay. Fable 3 did not do it for me at all.
They truly don’t make games like this anymore fable 2 was a amazing so many memories

Something about the soundtrack of Fable 2 instantly transports me into the best kind of happy nostalgia. I’m so so so nervous for the new Fable because I fear it won’t be anything like the original 🥲
Ahh fable 2 brings back good memories
I replayed fable 2 12x the first year it was out. I was mildly obsessed
To me as somebody who grew up on fable 1
The hype leading up to fable 2 was amazing, Granted PM lied and promised a game 30 yrs ahead of its time, he infact delivered a game 15 years ahead of its time
It's fantastic, if you dig deep you really can do anything
I tried fable 1 when I was younger and it was a clunky ass x and y spam sim
If I give the the series another shot and it sucks (with me, having more experience and struggling way less with objectives) I will come back and sauté your balls.
This is really weird. I was just playing Fable 2 a couple hours ago for the first time in a year and then this video shows up. What a coincidence.
Fable 2 is my favorite fable game..but yes it has a few over sight..the co-op exp oversight basically allows you to max out your character after 1 min of play...it's ridiculous
It sucks this isn't natively on PC..I would buy a fable 1 2 and 3 bundle on steam ASAP.
Forever love Fable
The demon doors were my favorite thing about this game. Winter lodge was creepy and beautiful. "oh, I wonder if I can own this cabin!? FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF"
I need to go back and replay all the fable games before 4
I remember Fable 2 being fun af.
I just finished all 3 since January first. I hear nothing good about 2 or 3, but I've loved them. Easier than I remember, but fun!
@@EdwardLuce175I think the people who hate 2 probably loved the first and got over hyped for 2.
@@Thebossatmserfgsd probably. I loved the first and was initially disappointed in the 2nd until my 2nd playthrough
Dude I just love your channel
Best Fable.
I'd buy it again if it were made available on PC.
Imagine this title on PC with mods
Great video. When will the triangle strategy review be out?
the new vegas cameo was absolutely fantastic 😂
I played Fable 2 and 3. I don't think I ever played the first. Fable 3 was ahead of its time. You could buy and sell property, the reputation system was amazing, the music was really good, you could start a family, etc.
I loved playing this game when it came out, I really liked using the chicken outfit in the game.
What I love about fable is the Color. So much beauty
i've never actually played the original Fable, but i really enjoyed Fable 2, Fable 3 had some nice things about it, but Fable 2, overall, was still better, though i agree about things like the story and ending being weak or potentially better. looking forward to your review of Fable 3 Matty :)
Questa trilogia e soprattutto questo secondo capitolo rimarranno per sempre nel mio cuore, è personalmente parlando tra i migliori giochi a cui abbia mai giocato in tutta la mia vita
Fable 2 is still my favorite game been playing sense it's release!
About to download it now on gamepass
This game introduced me to storytelling on videogames. This game impacted on gaming and more and I dream on it for a PC port. No remaster or anything, just want to play it again.
You can play it with Xbox Gamepass on PC as a Cloud-Stream.
fable was and is in my top 5 favourite games I’ve played. And since I was playing just on pc I didn’t played fable 2, but now I just buy it an xbox series s and I can’t wait to play this beautiful game. Anyway I cant wait to be released fable 4
Fable 2 is one of my top 5
I've played it a dozen times or more.
It's better than 3 so you got lucky
Fable 2 brings back good memories.
Mrmatty is a class in fable
Great review, Matty!
I remember buying Fable 2 but didn’t play much cuz I was still in Fallout 3 world and then went over to Wrath of the Lich King release
Fav game in series
What the hell Microsoft. Remake, remaster, rerelease this series. It’s your final fantasy for goodness sake
Loved that opening lol.
This game will always be one of my top 5 games
Xbox 360 was the last great Xbox console. I was never able to get into fable 2 because my Xbox got the red ring right after I got it and then the game kept freezing on my new xbox 360. Hopefully the platinum hits version ironed out most of the bugs because I just purchased it.
Yep that intro hits different, but I know why I love it so much, it’s basically the same as new Vegas
Fable 2 is a masterpiece imo 💕🥰 can't wait to play it again getting a Xbox series S soon 💯
This was the game I was playing when my 360 RROD'd.
Replayed 2 not long ago and enjoyed my time with it. Definitely felt rushed towards the end of the game but was still fun despite that.
The game has lots to offer. Certian chain quests continue after the main story is done.
First game I had on 360. Currently just re download it
I really hope the original Fable Trilogy gets remastered
I hope so just so I can actually get all of the achievements. In the 360 versions I can't get anything that requires multiplayer.
I am currently playing outer worlds and refreshed my love for rpgs
I remember getting close to unlocking all the achievements in Fable 2/3 but now that I’m older I can’t remember anything else about them.
