Oh, dear Ali! I've never seen any Vlogmasses before - yours is the first. I've watched a couple of others today, but none of them are as cozy, natural, low key, family-like, homey and lovely like yours. Love it!

Once our kids got into their teens Christmas lost some of its excitement so I had to get inventive. One year I used no tags and wrapped each persons gifts in different coloured papers . The kids had no idea what was going on so were excited to find out what gifts were theirs. Since they were now giving me lists it was just boring , no excitement, but now they wouldn’t know what gifts they were actually getting until the day.
Another year I switched the tags so none of the things they wanted matched the gifts with their name on them so they were very curious until the day when I told them which persons tags were their actual gifts.
Another year I wrapped a smaller, jewelry type box and inside was a little tag telling them where they could look to find their big gift. Once bigger gifts were requested they would know immediately what a big box held, so now they were very curious.
Another year there was a treasure hunt left by Santa, gifts tags were numbered so they would be in order and gifts were left in crazy places, even the neighbours yard.
It just got them being excited about the day again, they would try to figure out what trick Santa was pulling on them that year.

Just catching up on a few days of vlogmas. Hours and a couple others that I follow, and then one or two others that catch my eye. I love seeing everyone open their knitting and crafting advent calendars.I'm definitely going to get at least one next year

Love your Christmas vlogmases Ali! My granddaughter used to love strawberry shortcake and her fruit friends. So lovely seeing your Mum and all of you at her house, I'm rather envious of her sofa! I may have. missed it but another of my favorite vlogmas is Stitching the High Notes. But yours is the first one I watch everyday.
swooping in late with some vlogmas and book recs. One of my two favorite vlogmas-es (along with this one) is Corner of Craft, and I'm loving Engineering Knits' craftmas, she is doing a crafty activity and documenting it every second day up to christmas, I think you would especially enjoy the second video Ali, where she documents herself learning to spin in a very candid way.
For books I think you'd love The Garden Jungle by Dave Goulson which is a non-fiction look into the wildlife in UK gardens, and how gardening can help heal the planet.

Of course, your Vlogmas is my favorite, but I’m also enjoying Knitty Natty. (Oh, to be young and traveling around the country in a van, visiting yarn shops as you go!) I watch enough of Bumblebee Acres to see the yarn and jam advents. It’s fun to see all three Vlogmases (?) because some of your advents are the same. 😊 This is my first year with an advent and, in fact, I somehow have four! (Saving two 12 day versions for after Christmas.)
I’d like to make the Innsbruck Scarf pattern from Bumblebee. But, as a learning knitter, I’m really struggling. 😢

I have been listening to Agatha Christie Collection. It is $1.25 on audible and over 37 hours long. It is a collection of stories written in the style of Agatha Christie, but I don't think all of them are actually written by her. Anyways, I don't recognize the stories I have heard so far. The narrator is the same throughout and is very good. Glad for your special friendship. I don't believe in chance. I believe things happen for a reason. Your friendship was meant to be.
