I make Toad in A hole once a year at St Patrick’s day when Trader Joe’s has Irish sausage. I make mine in a small mini bread loaf pan so that we each have individual toads…
Hi Ali I'm the photographer you purchased the cards from Martin Burke. I am so glad you enjoyed them and thanks for posting on your vlog. I wondered why I kept getting friend requests. You have inspired me to put more onto Instagram now. Just for the record the correct way to say it is photos are us but I don't care what you call me. A follower of yours in New Romney has already asked for a couple of copies of Midley church.
I remember my grandfather making Yorkshire pud and toad-in-the-hole. In later years he knew exactly when the pan was hot enough as the fat would be smoking so much it would set off his smoke detector. He also made pork pies from scratch. A taste of his home, given he had moved to the other side of the world. I miss that gentleman more than I can put into words.
What wonderful memories, food can conjure up the warmest of feelings ❤️

I'm still catching up with vlogmas. My husband loves Dungerness it's his go to place. He awas born near Maidstone and goes back when ever he can. We both like travelling on the RH&D railway. I will look up the photographer and see if there's a photo I can surprise him with.

I actually saw the “man” first in the photo and thought it was strange that you purchased it.😜. Then I realized it wasn’t a photo of an actual man! So cool.😊
I eat the cauliflower core & never thought of broccoli I like mine sliced thinly & tossed in French dressing with salad

I’ve been eating the inner broccoli stalk for decades, I throw it in the steamer with the florets! I’ve never heard of it being eaten raw though - will be trying that later bc Rob has just brought some! 😂
Couldn’t see anything except the sun shining through the middle haha. I’ve also been eating the stalk of broccoli for a long time and love it too…I felt the same sense of amazement when I discovered it too!
my family likes to chop up broccoli and cauliflour stalks and steam them with the florets, but I've never had them raw, I'll have to give it a go

I didnt know dungeness was a desert.... Romney Marsh is gorgeous, I never saw the ghost in person though haha, those prints are lovely!

We had to redecorate our downstairs loo after my husband said the floral pattern looked like hundreds of ‘Yosemite Sams‘! Once seen I just couldn’t see anything else, and that wasn’t a good thing 😂

This is what my Mum used to do with cabbage, brocolli and cauliflower stalks and left them in a bowl on the table for us to snack on. Love them! I did them for my children who also loved them when they were little until they got 'fussy' over vegetables! Lol. I saw the ghost straight away after you read the note but didn't see it the first time you showed us the photo! They're beautiful photos. The toad in the hole looked really scrummy 😋
That's a corker of a toad in the hole!😊. Took about 30 secs but saw the vicar! Love Dungie too 🤗. The paper traditional advent takes me back to my childhood - amazing how we got excited over what the window would reveal!

Another great video/vlog thingy, lol. I spotted the "Vicar" straight away, lovely photo. Love veg, especially Savoy cabbage, broccoli, cauli. Love the cabbage water and one of my fave things is cold cabbage butties with plenty of salt and pepper. Mmmmm. Dad used to grow all our veg, so mum just had to go up the garden, pick whatever veg we were having and also used to pick the mint for home made mint sauce, ( as a kid I didn't know you could buy it, lol). Keep saying I'll plant a veg garden but seeing as I've over 600 bulbs to plant, think they need attention 1st. 😬😄🙄 Lovely to see Mia checking you're vlogging correctly. Oh I saw the “man” when you first showed the photo. Wow!!! Fabulous getting a new tree. I think it was during lockdown we ordered our first “ pretend” tree and are still delighted the “ finding the right tree” is no more. Loving spending this time with you and the family.🎄🎄
I am not a fan of toad in the hole either but the rest of my family love it. I think I will try getting some tasty veg to have with it.
Also love Dungeness - my husbands uncle has a caravan in Romney Sands & we get the little train up ❤

Our Christmas tree is over 30 years old & cost about £30 at the time. It's travelled over 10,000 miles as we took it to Florida with us when we moved there & back to Scotland 16 years later . Getting our money's worth 😅

I've never been to Dungeness but it's on my wishlist of places I really want to visit. I love to take photos and Dungeness is the most amazing place for photography. I loved the photo you showed us and I would absolutely love it if you did a vlog there. It's such an interesting and unique landscape and there's nothing else like it in the UK. I have a book about Derek Jarman's house and I believe his garden is still as it was when he was alive. He decorated it with bits and pieces he found on the beach. It's quite quirky. I'm pleading with you to do a vlog xx 🙏🏻😄

Exciting getting a new tree. I love the Dungeness estate it’s stunning there. We are hoping to head to St Mary’s Bay with the dogs tomorrow if it’s not too wet and will probably go for a drive along the estate road. Thank you for sharing your day ❤

I saw the ghost before you mentioned it. I thought there was a person standing there😁. I have heard of Toad in A Hole but didn’t know what recipe consisted of. It looks delicious. I’ve also heard of Bubble & Squeak, but don’t remember what is in it. In case you haven’t guessed I’m an American & those aren’t dishes we have here. 😉
