@ its not comparing. Bharatanatyam itself got diluted in later years in music so whoever composed was well within their limits but the ones before were all pure forms & compositions matched it. At the end of the day the songs i mentioned stands testimony still.
One film is periodical / mythical and another one based on Bharthanatyam and Naayanam ... Which the situation of the story itself demanded soulful Bharathanatyam numbers.. And the artists were so talented to exhibit the same ... (Who can forget the dance competition between Padmini and vyjayanthi mala in vanjikottai vaaliban ) Nowadays stories are not made that way, only money making commercial aspects are predominantly emphasized and hence current music directors don't have opportunities to exercise their talents in customary tunes or music. G Ramanathan, KVM, MSV, ilaiyaraja all have done everything in some thousands of films altogether - Perhaps all kinds of generes done and dusted and nothing new left for upcoming MDs ( besides there are many Hindi film composers from 50s 60s 70s 80s .. Have done superb magical compositions .. SD Burman, salilchowdry, op nayyar, Shankar jaikishan, Qayyam, Naushaad, Madan Mohan, laxmikanth pyarelal, kalyanji anandji, RD Burman ... ) ARR somehow raised a bar above but cannot be so prolific as he has to deeply scrutinize the possibility of composing new modern genres which were not composed before. Truly an uphill task ..

Whenever ARR is referred or mentioned for some praises - ilaiyaraja's ardent fans from nowhere interfere, and whenever ilaiyaraja mentioned for his uniqueness MSV's gold fans interfere - perhaps whenever MSV comes into limelight , GR KVM, Papnasam sivan (with his trumpcard singer MKT Bhagavathar ) all comes for discussion which cannot be averted such is the volume of fanbase and enthusiastic music lovers for every great composers .. we cannot compare eras .. People are quite different from time to time and they enjoy whatever they were exposed to and move on ..
Aadal kalaiye (Sri Raghavendrar) is 100x far superior / pleasant number than the ear sore Minsaara poove where both singers sing as though their toes were stubbed (such a high-decibel composition! Singers probably had to do their job!), with Jadhi composed by Sriram + inputs from both singers!! NONE of the 5 songs here can hold a candle light to IR's Top-25 including Salangai Oli (Sagara Sangamam) album, Aadal kalaiye, Therkondu sendravan (Vaalittezhudhiya), Vaidhegi Raman, Shivakara damaruka layamaai naadham (Malayalam) and Azhagu malar aada. Meettaadha oru veeNai can be added (if allowed in this 'classical dance' theme); those song's phrases were copy-pasted for Azhagaana raatchasiye! Kavidhai keLungal, Poo Malarndhida (fusion) - from IR alone. And then there are some more classics composed by the late legends.
@@TamilNostalgia Just called spade a spade without sugar-coating it. People love sugar. Comparison was inevitable because both songs' situation are SAME (Aadal kalaiye and Minsaara poove). The difference is of light vs day. You do not have to be musically sound to catch that. You could hear the pleasant calm nature of the former, versus dissonance in the latter. Happens a lot if songs are "compiled" rather than composed! Compiled ones are like pieces stuck together as in managing to finish a bungled-up jigsaw puzzle containing pieces from various puzzles! Ilayaraja has the complete song in mind. IR songs mentioned in my comment above might not be as popular as those 5 songs you mentioned, but one should / could not miss the elephant in the room.

Sorry about people who just think playing swaram and doing sound jimmicks is only music 😢😢😢 we have to go much long way in emotional musical appreciating to celebrate raja sir

Why should we always compare? No doubt those songs were great but for those who grew up with ARR songs these songs have a special meaning too.
