So Im guilty of playing with a pick mostly, but man you are really inspiring me to start developing my my finger style, your covers and technique is just insane! You deserve a lot more subs man, hope you get there \m/ And a 30min medley, awesome work!
Thanks very much man. I appreciate that. Sounds awesome that you’re going to develop your finger style. Extending your dynamics and techniques can never hurt. Also if you ever accidentally drop a pick at a gig at least you’ll be able to tear it up with your fingers!!
Dusty Jackal it can be tricky, especially when it comes to switching between the two techniques. I find I have to compromise on certain aspects of tone to find a middle ground where both pick and finger sound good. But you’re right, I think you’ll get it down. Experimenting with your hands placement when plucking the strings finger style can really help get some more clarity. I find there are different sweet spots on various bass guitars depending on the positioning and style of the pickups.
nice new fortress man (if that is indeed new haha). hope you make a video on how you setup your bass for those sounds. its too gnarly for fingerstyle it's almost pick like without the harsh high end. really interesting.
7sloth you ever try out the Thumb bass? Your style reminds me of Ryan Martinie. I’m sure you know that’s the model he uses. Was curious to get your take on it if you have ever tried it out
illdude696 I have played quite a few thumb basses. I own the Thumb Bo Ltd 2006 which I really like. I find the Warwick fortress more comfortable and balanced for live purposes, and an amazing fit for aggressive music. The sound and tone from the thumb bass is so unique and superb for recording though. I think thumbs have an insanely wide range of dynamics.
Beautiful bass my man...I was waiting for that pick to come out lol! I was getting nervous you were gonna try Sober without one! Your finger style is beast...but you just cannot play tool without a pick, it's that attack.
@@DANnuclearrabbitDAN I disagree my friend...I told him he's a beast, I love him. But I was glad he picked on this one. You cannot play that D across all the strings like that with your fingers and get that sound...MAYBE if you had some crazy flamenco finger nails or something. There's a reason he picked it when he fingers almost everything else.
Hey man, I've been following for some time now! Your playing has gotten fucking fantastic, despite always being that way. If it's not too much, do you think you'd ever have an interest in covering a Soften the Glare track? Cluck is the coolest one imo
It’s a different beast. I’m really happy with it. Still wearing it in a bit. A much different character in comparison to my original fortress. I’ve yet to set this one up to my preferences as far as action and strings. This one has lovely clarity and note definition, but the other fortress is awesome for gritty attack and presence. Very excited to add some more variety to my arsenal and explore more possibilities with this bass.
Thank you. I usually use Ernie ball . I just got the bass the other day and it came strung already. I’m not 100% sure what they used. I basically pulled it out the box, tuned up and recorded this.
@@7sloth They appear to be on the thin side. Do you prefer lighter strings or the increased string tension of a heavier gauge? I am kind of stuck between the ease of the left hand with a lighter gauge and the ease of the right hand with a heavier gauge. Any tips? Keep it up, I watch every video of yours. You're an inspiration to a fellow finger style bassist.

A 30 minute Tool bass video, i couldn't ask for more.⭐
Have you even seen any of their songs? They're pretty much 30 minutes as is
(Kidding)
Appreciating the love for Paul D’amor. Justin is great but Paul seems to not get the credit he should for the sound on tool’s early work.
Exactly!!! He coined this style and tone but every one acts like his wasn’t the original bassist for the band
didn't know fingerstyle tool bass covers could rip so hard, keep tearing it up bro!!
watta GGreat sound! Such juicy and clean...BRAVO!
I need to change my undies after watching this... Absolutely incredible
Please do a full vicarious cover like that!
The amount of work on it is unbelievable. Probably the best bass medley on YT. Great sound, great transitions between songs. Damn this is good.

@@7sloth For sure! My problem is just I cant get the clarity out compared to what you sound like for example. But Im sure Ill get there with practice

@@7sloth Awesome advice man, thanks for the reply! I really need to work on where to find that middle ground
You should not feel guilty for playing with a pick. These songs are meant to be played with a pick.
New fortress !!
Damn I’m late af on this, amazing shit
You have to request your own Warwick Fortress Signature man~
(When you play, Rockbass becomes beyond its quality. Awesome as always~lml)
Man, I'm absolutely amazed!! this video literally made my anxiety go away tonight... thank you!
Dude you really inspire me. You have a unique playing

That tone will always be fucking king dude! 🤘😄

These medleys are so sick lol beautiful transitions
I like how it all sounds, very tasty.
Jeez look at your fingers at 23:54 ! That's cool
I have no idea why but I got real excited when you grabbed that pick hahaha
This is so mesmerasing I literally felt entranced for 30 minutes straight
Jessica Hyde That’s awesome, thank you!
i wasn't expecting Intolerance as an intro, cool!
what's that song after the ænema outro?
@@nicholasgrijalva Third Eye
Nick That next song is called Third Eye. Last track on the same album.

amazing playing, tone, and skill as usual
Sos una bestia loco! muy bueno che
man i've never heard that bass part on aenema because the bass is so low in the mix, i wish it wasn't because that's a super cool lick
I love you, man!

Aaron S there’s so much attack coming from his technique, strings and bass choice come on man, no pick needed here

So if you are not using many effects here, what are your EQ settings?
Epic gritty sound and playing!

Holy shit, 30 minutes?! Thanks man! Sounds incredible as always, is that a new fortress?
Thanks very much man. Yeah, it is a new bass. It’s the Warwick Fortress Rock Bass. Stoked with it.
@@7sloth it looks sick man! Suits you. Keep up the great work!
🤯
Your tone is badass.
Which pedal do you use?
Nice vídeo! What strings do you use here? And what gauge?

Seems about right.
И кислотно-щелочной баланс головного мозга восстановлен. И яйца прочнее становятся.
Yeah everyone says it, but you’re done crushes. Are you running an Ampeg DI box or something?
Thanks man. Yeah, that’s the one. Running the ampeg SCRDI.
Think I'm gonna benchmark my new subwoofer with this vid instead
Update: bassey as shit, thank you for this vid
New bass???
That’s right man, very happy with it!
New bass?
You got it man!! Warwick Fortress Rock Bass!
How good did it feel playing this ? Too Good!
It was pretty scary towards the end lol, a lot of pressure not to mess up that far in to the medley.
why am I having so much difficulty with the chords he's using for Sober
