10:08 you need to sit the camera properly, it needs to be pushed forward until the aluminium spide is in the holder and the Lense is flush with the front of the mount (that will remove the circular shadow on the outer edges of the image), the camera shouldn't move up and down if seated correctly.

The Seal does not remember those ADAS changes between restarts of the car. I have to make the changes everytime I start the car. The salesman at the showroom demonstrating the Seal also got caught out by this so I assume he was used to the Atto 3 only.

@@BYD_Telsa Hopefully they will fix via an update soon. But the NCAP rating for the Seal is based on 2023 rules, which is probably stricter than the Atto 3 rating. IMO, none of the lane assist features even work on my car. And the few times I've tried to use autopilot, the car tried to drive me off the road, and I needed to do my own "manual" emergency assistance. The whole lane keeping/assist/pilot functionality is complete rubbish compared to my Tesla. To be fair, Telsa has had its own range of problems in the past that have been fixed by OTA updates. I am preparing a list of issues that can probably be fixed by OTA updates, which I will eventually pass onto BYD Australia...

Actually, just checked on a Seal, it definitely keeps the changes I suggested. Maybe either the one you looked at was in showroom mode or an older version.

The three key points in the video were:
Where to buy the camera (I’m assuming Ali Express but that was never mentioned)
How to actually take the cover of the radar/LiDAR unit. I’m assuming it’s easy but it was an annoying oversight.
How to properly ‘seat’ the camera in position; it did not appear to have been properly installed.

HI Thanks for the video. Do you or anyone else know whether the BYD Dolphins sold in Australia ( mine is 2023 version) come with the inbuilt dashcam wiring. I understand the UK version doesn't , the Malaysian version does but what about the Australian version? Looks a far easier installation if this wiring is in place. Also when you take off the plastic cover did you have to take the small back section(attached to the rear vision mirror) off separately or can it all come off in one piece.

    • @BYD_Telsa

Ian, you do some terrific work for people who are new to the BYD products; but.. please put further work on improving the video before posting on UA-cam. What you have to offer is valuable but it needs to be ‘as good’ production wise to get the hits and subscribers you are probably looking for.
BTW, it is very straightforward to swipe down and disable traffic sign recognition then, if you want the speed zone displayed, simply open the native mapping app and voila, the speed is displayed. You can put the map on a split screen if you want to use other apps at the same time…

I can never understand why many of Chinese cars have to put those annoying dings, they even have them in the electric busses.
If you ever catch one its constantly making dings and dans and thus completely defeats the reason for them in the first place.
It like those web sites that insist on really long passwords with special chars, so people have to write them down because the can remember them, thus defeating the reason for them in the first place.
Adding more security and warnings can just end up spamming people and undermine their effectiveness.

I've had my Seal for over a week and it won't save the lane assist changes nor the disabling the speed alert chime. Every review I've seen of the Seal is reporting the same issue. I understand the car's high voltage system is disconnected in showroom mode, so I'd say it's impossible to drive the car in this state.

    Hello everyone,
I'm from the UK. I have a Dolphin and I have bought a dash cam from AliExpress. When I removed the cover from behind the rear view mirror I found out that there is no cable for the dash cam there. Turns out UK models don't have the cable installed either. I bought the cable as well. But i can't find any information on where is that head unit is located in the Dolphin where I need to plug the other end of the cable into.
    Does anybody knows this?

    • @catherinegrimes2308
      @catherinegrimes2308 11 місяців тому +1

I don't know the answer to your question but may be able to help.
There is a video on UA-cam about somebody in Malaysia adding the camera to his Dolphin. The title of the video is "Installation of built-in Driving Recorder (Dashcam) for BYD Dolphin". In this video, the cable is in the unit above the mirror and it is covered in tape that has to be removed. On the UK eBay there is a seller that sells the camera and the price is converted from $AU and the Australian Dolphin is practically identical to the UK model and I think that the New Zealand model could be identical because it only has to confirm to the UK regulations. The Australian model must have an additional requirement that was introduced to protect the (now non-existent) motor industry.
Looking at a Malaysian Dolphin review video on UA-cam, the Dolphin looks like the Global version and as it is RHD, it could be the same as the Australian versions because only Standard and Premium trims are available in Malaysia.

I've sent this feedback to BYD on 20th Dec.
"Every time when I start the engine, the TSR is automatically on again."
This is the respond I got: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Part of the conditions for the 5 star ANCAP Safety Rating are that all of the available safety features including features such as PCW, BSD or RCTA be enabled for each time a vehicle is switched on. This is designed to ensure the BYD ATTO 3 remains compliant to ANCAP safety requirements.

If you wish to disable any of the features, these must be manually disabled after each startup.

At this point in time, the engineering team do not plan on implementing the functionality to permanently disable any of the safety features by user preference.
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
God damn it. No one is interested in "manually disabling it after each startup"!
If they don't change it, that means they care about ANCAP rating more than how the actual drivers feel about this car..
